In order to meet the growing demands of hand sanitizers after the novel coronavirus outbreak, the IIT Kharagpur researchers have come out with two different alcohol-based hand sanitizers. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has announced that its researchers have now come out with two different alcohol-based hand sanitizers, which are made following the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines amid the COVID-19 outbreak. 

A team of researchers from the School of Medical Science and Technology of the institute has manufactured a hand sanitizer containing isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, glycerol and water, the IIT Kharagpur spokesperson said in a statement.

This team comprises of Atul Kumar Ojha, Ayan Gope, Anurup Mukhopadhyay, Lopamudra Das, Akashlina Basu, a few of whom who have studied pharmaceutical technology from IIT Kharagpur, the statement added.

Another team which was head by Professor Prof Mihir Sarangi of the Department of Mechanical Engineering has developed a hand sanitizer based on 70% ethanol and 30 % aloe vera gel.

Both of these sanitizers are been made available to employees of the institute by the researchers. These employees are those who are providing essential services to the staff, teachers, and students on the campus. 
Responding on the same, Atul Kumar Ojha said that these hand sanitizers are been made only for non-commercial usage.
In order to meet the rising demands of hand sanitizers in the wake of coronavirus pandemic and to reduce its spread, many universities and colleges around the country are making their own hand sanitizers. 
Recently, Two students of IIT Roorkee have also prepared over 1500 bottles of herbal hand sanitizer which will be distributed free of cost.
