IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi launches inaugural master programme
IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi was established following a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by IIT-Delhi and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in July.
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi), the international campus of IIT-Delhi, has introduced a new master's program in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS) at Zayed University.
IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi's ETS master's program is designed for the Abu Dhabi campus, aiming to provide professionals and scholars in the energy industry and related sectors with knowledge and skills to implement sustainable approaches and solutions. The course is starting in January 2024.
In line with the UAE National Energy Strategy 2050, the master's program seeks to cultivate graduates with an understanding of technology and policy frameworks to address challenges in energy transition. The launch of this program coincides with the UAE's hosting of COP28 and aligns with the country's Year of Sustainability in 2023.
The students with backgrounds in Science and Engineering will embark on a two year program at IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi's temporary campus.
Upon successfully completing the master’s program, ETS graduates will cultivate a high level of confidence and adaptability in working with peers from diverse disciplinary backgrounds, ensuring holistic knowledge foundations to begin their careers in fields related to the energy sector while contributing to their domain of expertise, as reported by Zawya.
Reacently, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the upcoming campus of IIT Delhi in Abu Dhabi will offer its first course in January 2024. “The IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus marks a significant stride in our efforts to internationalise India’s education. It will open up a plethora of opportunities for leveraging the power of knowledge for mutual prosperity and global well-being,” he said.
