To meet the rising demand for innovative problem-solving, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has introduced its Certificate Programme in Design Thinking and Innovation. This five-month online course aims to empower professionals by blending established design thinking principles with creativity and frugal innovation skills. Designed to address the growing need for innovation-driven strategies, the programme equips participants with essential skills to remain competitive in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The Design Thinking and Innovation Programme is tailored for creative managers, product developers, entrepreneurs, business consultants, and senior executives responsible for driving innovation and delivering impactful, customer-centric solutions. Beyond the traditional design thinking process empathising, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing the programme incorporates two classes on Generative AI. This addition equips participants with tools to boost creativity, streamline processes, and produce faster, more effective solutions.
Participants will engage with a curriculum designed for today’s innovators, covering essential topics such as Human-Centred Design (HCD) for addressing real-world user needs, Iterative Design and Sustainability for continuous innovation, and Agile Design and Data-Driven Innovation for creative problem-solving. They will also master Prototyping and Ideation techniques, along with Storytelling and Visualization skills to effectively communicate their ideas. This comprehensive curriculum equips professionals with the skills necessary to drive innovation in a rapidly evolving landscape.

The programme spans five months of immersive online learning, beginning on December 20, 2024, and includes over 150 engaging video lectures, more than 15 innovative assignments, 10 quizzes, and a Capstone Adventure Project. Participants will benefit from Generative AI Masterclasses, which focus on AI-driven innovation, ethical AI usage, and product development.
Additionally, there is an optional campus immersion opportunity, allowing participants to attend two on-campus sessions at IIT Delhi for enhanced networking and direct faculty interactions. The programme culminates in a final capstone project, where participants can apply their design thinking skills to tackle complex real-world challenges.
