IIT Kanpur To Host Udghosh UNOSQ 2024

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) has announced to organise Udghosh National Open School Quiz (UNOSQ) 2024 as part of its annual sports festival, Udghosh. The quiz will take place in two phases on August 25 to September 1, 2024, and is open to students in grades 5 through 12 from across India. Udghosh National Open School Quiz registration is available until: August 28.

To register, students can visit at unosq.udghosh.org.in/individualregister. The winners will be announced and honoured at a ceremony on October 4, 2024, at the IITK campus. Prizes exceeding INR 50,000, along with various merchandise and goodies, will be awarded to the winners.

About National Open School Quiz (UNOSQ) 2024

Participants in UNOSQ 2024 will be categorised into four age groups: Little Champs (classes 5-6), Super Nova (classes 7-8), The Titans (classes 9-10), and Elite Explorers (classes 11-12). The top 100 students from the first phase, scheduled for August 25, 2024, will advance to the second round. This initial phase will feature a series of challenging questions designed to assess logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and general knowledge. The second phase will take place on September 1, 2024, featuring the top 100 students from the first round.

To help students better prepare for the quiz, a session with IAS Aditya Srivastava, AIR 1 holder in the 2023 UPSC CSE and an alumnus of IITK, was organized. This session provided attendees with insights into effective study techniques, time management, and the importance of perseverance.

Vanshika and Suraj, Heads of events and Competitions, at Team Udghosh, said, "We are enthused to see the interest of students in the Udghosh National Open School Quiz. Our intent is to provide young minds with a platform to interact with others and participate in healthy competition. This competition will test their mettle and knowledge. Participants will have an opportunity to display their logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and general knowledge. We are certain that this will be a valuable exercise for every participant."

Q:   Can I get admission in IIT Kanpur in BTech if my rank is between 0 and 5000?

A:

The cut off rank in Round 6 for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering is 238 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Kanpur - Indian Institute of Technology.

Q:   Which exam do I need to write to pursue BS from IIT Kanpur?

A:

Candidates seeking admission to BS at IIT Kanpur must have a valid score in JEE Main, JEE Advanced and go through JoSAA counselling for final admission. Admission is completely entrance exam-based and candidates seeking admission can not get into IIT Kanpur with only the scores of JEE Main. JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling is the mandatory requirement. Additionally, to be eligible for the BSc programme, students are required to have passed their Class 12 with at least 75% aggregate with Science subjects (i.e., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). 

Q:   Can I get admission for BTech at IIT Kanpur without JEE?

A:

Admission to the BTech programme at IIT Kanpur is entrance exam-based, i.e., based on JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced scores. Candidates seeking admission to BTech can not get admission to IIT Kanpur with only the scores of JEE Main. JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling is the final selection criteria followed by the institute. Qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2024 also, called qualifying percentile for JEE Mains 2024 will be announced by the NTA along with the session 2 result. Candidates must note that qualifying percentile for JEE Mains 2024 is the minimum percentile required to appear in JEE Advanced 2024. For admission to NIT or IIITs, there is no provision of qualifying marks in JEE Mains 2024 and admission is given based on All India Rank in JEE Mains exam. NTA will announce JEE Mains 2024 All India rank in April after session 2 exam results.
