Students who successfully complete the course and clear an examination that will be conducted on April 30, 2022, will get a certificate. Candidates will have to pay INR 1000 to take the examination.

IIT Kharagpur Admissions 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has introduced a free online course on ethical hacking this time on the SWAYAM NPTEL platform. The 12-week duration course aims at helping individuals and organisations safeguard their IT infrastructure by adopting safe practices. Students who successfully complete the course within the designated time will get three credit points. The course will be conducted from January 23 to April 14, 2023.

Professor Indranil Sengupta (BTech, MTech and PhD degrees in computer science and engineering from the University of Calcutta) will conduct the course. NPTEL says that the professor has over 28 years of teaching and research experience, and has guided 22 PhD students.

Students who successfully complete the course and clear an examination that will be conducted on April 30, 2022, will get a certificate. Candidates will have to pay INR 1000 to take the examination.

The course will begin with basic topics like networking, network security and cryptography, and then move into various attacks and vulnerabilities and ways to secure them. The course will cover topics such as Introduction to ethical hacking; Fundamentals of computer networking, TCP or IP protocol stack; IP addressing and routing; TCP and UDP; IP subnets; Routing protocols; IP version 6; Installation of attacker and victim system; Information gathering using advanced google search; Introduction to cryptography, private-key encryption, and public-key encryption among others.

IIT Kharagpur Free Online Course on Ethical Hacking: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with basic knowledge on programming and networking can opt this course. However, the course is best suited for students and professionals from domains such as Computer science and engineering; Information technology; Electronics and communication; Electrical engineering.
