IIT Mandi, NSDC & HPKVN collaborate to offer various training and learning programs

The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) at the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi in multiple collaborations with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC), and Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN) is all set to offer various training and learning programs by the end of June 2023.

Speaking about the potential outcomes of various programs being offered by the institute, Professor Tushar Jain, Head, Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), IIT Mandi, said, “CCE, IIT Mandi is offering new age courses sponsored by HPKVN, which are specifically designed for the youth of Himachal Pradesh. These courses provide an opportunity for the youth to enhance their skills and knowledge in domains such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics and Industrial Automation.”

These courses are residential, meaning that students have the option to stay on campus during the duration of the program. However, they also offer flexibility for students to join online if they prefer to pursue the courses remotely. This allows for greater accessibility and convenience for those who may not be able to attend in person.

Courses free for Himachali Youth

One notable aspect of these programs is that they are free of cost for Himachali youth. This means that the tuition fees for the courses are waived off, and additionally, the institute provides free boarding, lodging, and food for the duration of the program. This makes the courses highly accessible to the youth of Himachal Pradesh, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their participation.

Primary Objectives

The primary objective of these training programs is to equip the Himachali candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills that align with the latest industry standards. The aim is to make them job-ready and enhance their employability prospects. By focusing on cutting-edge fields like AI, ML, IoT, and Industrial Automation, the courses prepare the candidates to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Placement Opportunity

In a significant development, IIT Mandi has committed to providing placement opportunities for all the candidates upon successful completion of the courses to facilitate job placements for the students, enhancing their prospects for securing employment in relevant industries.

Certification in Data Science and Machine Learning Program offered in collaboration with NSDC

IIT Mandi is commencing a short-term certification program in Data Science and Machine Learning, open for STEM graduates, working professionals and final semester students. The duration of the program will be 6 months. The registration for this certificate program has already started. In this certification program, the student will learn Mathematical and Statistical Foundations, Computing and Data Science, Data Processing and Modeling, and Data Analytics tools like Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, and many more. This program will help aspiring Data Scientists to get a better understanding of both theories and application of Data Science models to transform complex data into business insights. The placements and internship opportunities will be provided to participants on successful completion of the certification program. The participants are also provided with the unique opportunity of campus immersion at IIT Mandi for a week.

Who can apply?

The courses are open to Engineering, BCA, MCA, ITI, Polytechnic, Teachers, Trainers and Working Professionals. The duration of the course will be 1-2 months. The registration for these free online/offline courses have already started and will continue till 15th June 2023.
