‘JEE Advanced 2024 Cutoff will Skyrocket’, Experts
The JEE Advanced 2024 examination, conducted on May 26, has been perceived by students and experts as notably easier compared to previous years. Consequently, there is anticipation that the cutoff marks will experience an upward trend.
The JEE Advanced 2024 exam took place on May 26, and feedback from students and experts suggests that this year's paper was surprisingly easier compared to previous years. It did not meet the usual difficulty level expected from JEE Advanced exams. Experts predict that this year's cutoff marks may hover around 95 marks out of 360, approximately 27% for general candidates. If this estimation holds, it would mark a significant increase in cutoff marks of around 9 to 10 marks across categories. In 2023, there was already a notable rise in cutoff marks by 31 marks for general candidates.
The JEE Advanced cutoff denotes the minimum percentage of marks required for aspirants to be included in the JEE Advanced rank list. Only those who achieve the minimum prescribed marks in each subject and overall aggregate will be listed. These marks play an important role in determining a candidate’s admission to the prestigious IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology).
In terms of difficulty, this year's Paper 1 saw Mathematics and Physics at a moderate level, while Chemistry ranged from easy to moderate. Paper 2, on the other hand, presented tougher Physics, moderate Chemistry, and Mathematics ranging from moderate to tough. Although Paper 2 was considered more challenging than Paper 1, it was still perceived as easier compared to the previous year's JEE Advanced paper.

The speculated cutoff for JEE Advanced 2024 is based on the perceived difficulty of the exam. It's important to note that the cutoff is influenced by several factors, including the number of candidates who appeared for the exam, the total available seats for admission in each IIT and course, the difficulty level of the question paper, the trend in previous years' cutoffs, and overall student performance in the examination. These variables collectively determine the final cutoff for JEE Advanced 2024.
The final cutoff will be officially announced along with the JEE Advanced results on June 9. Before that, IIT Madras is scheduled to release the JEE Advanced 2024 answer key on June 2, while the candidate response sheet will be available on May 31. The question papers for the exam were uploaded by IIT Madras on May 26, accessible via jeeadv.ac.in.
