JEE Advanced 2024 Registration Numbers Break Past 11 Year Record; Over 1.91 Lakh Apply
More than 1.91 lakh candidates have reportedly registered to participate in one of the world’s toughest exams. The race for around 17000 BTech seats offered by 23 IITs is set to start on May 26.
JEE Advanced 2024 is set to witness the highest number of registrations in past 11 years. More than 1.91 lakh students have completed registration for the country's most prestigious entrance examination, JEE Advanced, by the evening of May 7. JEE Advanced 2024 application process was open until May 7, 11:30 pm. Admit cards are scheduled to be issued on May 17, 2024. The examination will take place on May 26, conducted in two shifts, from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Last year saw 1.89 lakh registrations, which have now risen to 1.91 lakh, with expectations for further increase. This figure marks the highest in the past 11 years of JEE Advanced records. The trend shows 126,749 registrations in 2013; 126,995 in 2014; 124,741 in 2015; 155,797 in 2016; 171,814 in 2017; 165,656 in 2018; 174,432 in 2019; 160,838 in 2020; 151,193 in 2021; 160,038 in 2022 and 189,744 in 2023. Until Tuesday evening, JEE Advanced 2024 had over 1.91 lakh registrations, as per reports.

45 BTech Seats Were Unoccupied last Year
IIT Madras is organising the examination for admission in BTech seats across 23 IITs in the country. The number of seats is as per last year and this number can rise this this year. Last year, 17,340 candidates were allotted seats in the 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) after six rounds of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process, including 3,422 female candidates. The total number of available seats in IITs was 17,385, leaving 45 seats vacant, which is the first in the past five years.
