JEE Advanced 2024 Result OUT: Cutoff Highest in 6 Years, Number of Qualifying Candidates Rise

JEE Advanced result was announced today, June 9 at 10 am. With the JEE Advanced 2024 result, IIT Madras has also informed the qualifying cutoff of the exam. The minimum marks needed to pass the JEE Advanced exam to be eligible for IIT admission vary across categories. This year the cutoff marks across categories have jumped to several digits as expected, and is the highest in the past 6 years, since 2018.
This year the number of candidates registering and qualifying the exam is also the highest in the past 6 years. Although the registration numbers have gradually been rising for JEE Advanced 2024 since 2016, the cutoff has not peaked above 30% until this year since 2018. The cutoff has taken flight this year across all categories.

This year the JEE Advanced cutoff of the common rank list is 30.34%; 27.30% for the GEN-EWS rank list and OBC-NCL rank list; 15.17% for SC, ST, and PwD rank lists across all categories; and 7.58% for Preparatory course rank lists. Last year the cutoff for inclusion in the CRL was 23.89%; 21.50% for GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL rank list; 11.95% for SC, ST and PWD rank list across categories; and 5.98% for the preparatory course rank lists.
Talking about the number of candidates qualifying the exam this year, a total of 48248 candidates qualified the exam out of the 180200 candidates who appeared for the exam. The total number of candidates who registered for the exam this year was 186,584.
The number of registered, appearing and qualifying candidates has also risen this year by quite a good margin. Last year, the number of candidates who registered for the exam was 1,89,487 and of them 1,80,372 took the exam and 43,769 qualified.
JEE Advanced 2024 qualifying cutoff marks from the past 6 years
JEE Advanced qualifying marks for inclusion in the common rank list in 2013 were 35%; 31% in 2014; 24.4% in 2015; 20% in 2016; 35% in 2017; 25% in 2018 and 2019; 17.5% in 2020 and 2021; 25.5% in 2022; and 23.89% in 2023.
