A verified Twitter account named 'The World Ranking' recently tweeted a list of the 'Top Toughest Exams in the World', based on which the Gaokao Exam of China dominated the list. IIT JEE Exam, that is JEE Advanced, was ranked at number 2, followed by UPSC Exam at number 3 and the GATE exam at number 8.

Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of Mahindra Group, retweeted the tweet stating “After seeing #12thFail I checked around and spoke to a number of young people about the relative difficulty of our entrance exams. One of them was a graduate of IIT who is involved in a business startup but who had also taken the UPSC exam. He stated EMPHATICALLY that UPSC is much tougher than the IIT JEE. I wonder if this is a commonly held perception, in which case this ranking needs to change!”

Several netizens also shared their opinions on this retweet. According to some, the UPSC exam is more challenging than the JEE Advanced exam as the syllabus is vast, and there are two levels of the exam followed by interview rounds. On the other hand, some feel that JEE Advanced is tougher as the number of attempts is less than UPSC, and IIT JEE judges the candidates based on their scientific knowledge.

Moreover, netizens also believe that UPSC has higher competition than JEE Advanced, as the seats in UPSC are very few compared to the seats offered by the IITs.

Furthermore, some of the commenters feel that the CA exams should also be included in the list of the top toughest exams in the world.

JEE Advanced 2024 exam is scheduled to be held on May 26. The registrations will start on April 21. To be eligible for JEE Advanced, candidates have to first appear in JEE Mains and qualify the cutoff or the JEE Advanced exam for admission to the IITs.
