NIT Trichy PhD Admission 2025: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy has released the PhD admission form for various disciplines in the following categories: (a) Full-Time: (i) Half-time Research Assistantship (HTRA) (ii) Externally Funded (iii) Non-Stipendiary (b) Part-Time: In-Service (i) Internal and (ii) External; for the session starting in January 2025.
To apply for NIT Trichy PhD admission, applicants must have a minimum aggregate of 60% (GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL) or 55% (SC/ST/PwD) in both their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. A valid GATE or equivalent national-level test score is required for those applying in Architecture, Sciences, Computer Applications, Management, and Humanities & Social Sciences.
However, GATE scores are not mandatory for HTRA candidates in Engineering or for those applying under non-stipendiary, project, or part-time categories across all disciplines. Candidates without a valid GATE score must take the National Level Ph.D. Entrance Test conducted by NIT Trichy.

NIT Trichy PhD 2025 Selection Process
Candidates will be selected through an initial screening of their application, followed by a written test and performance in an interview or counselling round, which may be conducted either offline or online. They must submit proof of Research Publications, a Research Proposal, and a Statement of Purpose. Those selected for admission must present their original documents for verification during in-person reporting at NIT Trichy.

No, NIT Trichy does not offer admission to any of its courses directly. Admission is strictly entrance-based. For BTech, MTech, MSc, and MCA courses, national-level examinations such as JEE Main, GATE, IIT JAM, and NIMCET are accepted. Candidates shortlisted based on the exam scores further need to take part in the respective counselling procedures such as JoSAA for BTech, CCMT for MTech, and CCMN for MSc.

Candidates who pass Class 12 in Science stream wtih PCM/ PBM subjects are eligible to apply for this course.
