THE World Reputation Rankings 2023: IISc Bengaluru Leads, IITs Make Strong Presence
The IISc Bengaluru has been ranked among the 125 universities in the world, it is followed by IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi ranked between 150- 175.
Four Indian universities have featured in the THE World Reputation Rankings 2023 announced today, with the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru leading the table from India. The other three universities are Indian Institutes of Technology.
The IISc Bengaluru has been ranked among the 125 universities in the world, it is followed by IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi ranked between 150- 175. The other institute from India is IIT Madras ranked between 175 and 200.
The Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings, based on the world's largest invitation-only opinion survey of senior, published academics, provide a comprehensive assessment of academic prestige and excellence across the globe. Harvard University maintains its supremacy, topping the rankings for the 13th consecutive year, while the United States retains its dominance with 52 institutions featured, albeit with a slight decrease from the previous year.
The UK follows suit as the second most represented country, boasting 20 institutions in the rankings, led by the University of Oxford in fourth place. China and Germany also make notable contributions, with 15 and 14 universities respectively, showcasing their growing influence in the global academic landscape.
Noteworthy is the rise of universities from the Middle East, with seven institutions from the region making their mark in this year's rankings. Representing countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, these institutions signify the region's emergence as a significant player in higher education.
Overall, the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings encompass universities from 31 countries, reflecting the diverse and dynamic nature of global academia. The rankings, based on academic opinion surveys targeting experienced, published scholars, serve as a barometer of excellence in research and teaching worldwide.
India's remarkable performance in THE World Reputation Rankings 2023 underscores the nation's commitment to fostering academic excellence and innovation, further solidifying its position as a formidable force in the realm of higher education on the global stage.
