The JEE Advanced paper difficulty level depends on the conducting IIT, a myth or fact? Let's get to a conclusion here.

Which IIT Sets the Toughest Paper for JEE Advanced

Which IIT Sets the Toughest Paper for JEE Advanced: Does Difficulty Level Depend on Conducting IIT; Know Here

The fact is, JEE Advanced exam papers are not created by a single IIT, but rather by a team of experts from various institutes. Thus, the difficulty level of JEE Advanced cannot be based on its conducting IIT. There can be no exact answer to the question “Which IIT Sets the Toughest Paper for JEE Advanced?”

For instance, The JEE Advanced paper for the year 2016 is considered to be the most challenging paper till date. IIT Guwahati conducted the exam and the paper that year was considered both difficult and controversial. However, when IIT Guwahati held JEE Advanced in 2023, no reports of an unusually tough paper surfaced. Consequently, it is not feasible to predict the level of difficulty of the JEE Advanced paper based on the conducting IIT.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, a prestigious engineering entrance exam in India, is conducted by one of the seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), namely IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Guwahati, in a round-robin rotation pattern. This pattern follows a rational order, wherein the 7 IITs take turns to conduct the exam, starting from the top of the list and then moving downwards until all the IITs have conducted the exam, after which the cycle starts again from the top. The Joint Admission Board (JAB) supervises and guides the exam.

If not the Conducting IIT, Then Who Sets the JEE Advanced Paper?

Myth: There exists a common misconception among students that the IIT responsible for conducting the JEE Advanced exam also sets the paper for that year. However, this is not the case as the responsibility of setting the paper is rotated among all the IITs. Additionally, the paper pattern and questions of the exam are determined by a panel of experts and are not influenced by the conducting IIT.

Fact: The organising IIT only handles the administrative part of the exam conduction process. For instance, IIT Madras is holding JEE Advanced 2024, so this IIT will be responsible for the application process, admit card issuance, answer key release, result calculation and other factors that lead to the smooth conduct of the exam. The decision about the JEE Advanced paper pattern, types of questions, total marks, marking scheme, and selection of questions will on the other hand depend on the premium panel of professors from all IITs. A panel is set up that consists of professors of the IITs and they set up the JEE Advanced paper.

Candidates must not worry about who sets the IIT JEE paper, rather they must focus on their preparation and let their results do the talking. All the best for JEE Advanced 2024!
