Delhi University is all set to conduct the sports and ECA trials for candidates after a gap of two years. The officials confirmed that this year, all those candidates who are willing to take admission through ECA and sports quota will have the trials. Owing to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions imposed to contain it, the varsity has not conducted trials for the last two years.

DU Admissions 2022: ECA and Sports Quota

All those candidates seeking admission through ECA and Sports Quota must note that they do have to appear for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).

VC Yogesh Singh said that for admission through Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA), a candidate will have to appear for a performance-based test along with the CUET. Merit for this will be made on the basis of the combined score of CUET and performance-based test.

"This year, if the Covid situation remains fine and there is no increase in cases, we will conduct sports and ECA trials. While giving admissions to students, 25 per cent weightage will be given to CUET scores and 75 per cent to their performance in the trials," Delhi University Vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh told reporters, as reported by PTI.

The officials also said that there will be centrailsed trials by the Delhi University.

As per the present University's admission guidelines, the colleges have to admit up to five per cent of its students under the sports and ECA quota. DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh had released the DU Admission Policy for the academic year 2022-23 on April 5, 2022. While calling the new admission a landmark move, he said, DU Admissions 2022 will be done through CUET 2022 as directed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to all the central universities of India.

The VC also clarified that the DU UG Admissions through CUET 2022 will not be conducted for the School of Open Learning (SOL) and National Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB).

He further said, “it is mandatory for all the candidates to appear in CUET 2022, including those seeking admission to supernumerary seats."
