JMI also conducted test for Certificate in Yoga Studies programs, Vice Chancellor and Registrar visits examination centers to evaluate arrangements

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) conducted entrance tests for for B.Ed (Distance Mode), M.Tech (Environment Health and Risk Management) and Certificate in Yoga Studies programs. A total of 1,211 candidates submitted applications for the B.Ed. (Distance Mode) program, with 1,046 of them participating in the entrance examination today.

The Vice Chancellor and Registrar engaged with the candidates who participated in the entrance tests, addressing any questions they may have had. The efforts of the Office of the Controller of Examinations in successfully conducting the entrance tests were acknowledged, and officials were instructed to address any concerns related to the candidates.

A total of 1,211 candidates submitted applications for the B.Ed. (Distance Mode) program, with 1,046 of them participating in the entrance examination today. In the case of the M.Tech. (EHRM) program, 46 out of 54 applicants took part in the entrance test. Additionally, for the Certificate in Yoga Studies, 29 candidates out of 36 applicants appeared for the entrance examination today.

To evaluate arrangement, Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif, Officiating Registar Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi visited the examination centres created in Jamia Senior Secondary School and Syed Abid Husain Sr. School of the university. Prof.  (Dr.) Saroj Kumar Mahananda, Officiating Controller of Examinations, Dr. Ahteshamul Haque, Hony. Deputy Controller of Examinations, Prof. Mohammad Shahid Khan, Chief Proctor and other officers of the university accompanied them during the inspection.

Q: Β  Can I get into JMI for BA without CUET?

A:

As per the CUET UG website, students seeking admission to BA at Jamia Millia must appear for and qualify CUET exam. However, since some universities are also considering other components while giving admission to CUET-UG based courses, it could be a possibility of getting into JMI without CUET. But, this being said there is no official information on whether the university will only consider CUET UG scores or other components as well for admission, it is tough to give the right answer. Students are therefore advised to reach out to the admission office for more details. 

Q: Β  What is the reservation percentage for Muslim candidates at JMI?

A:

Jamia Millia Islamia offers seat reservations in almost all the courses based on the category of the students. Candidates seeking JMI admission under the reserved category can apply for reservation under one category only and are required to fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions of the course. More details regarding JMI reservation criteria are enlisted below:

  • 30% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for Muslim applicants. 10% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for women applicants
    who are Muslims and 10% of the total number of seats in each course shall be earmarked for (OBCs) and ST students who are Muslims.
  • 5% of seats in all the courses are reserved for physically challenged students.
  • 5% of seats in all courses must be filled by internal students of Jamia who have passed their qualifying exam from Jamia schools as regular students.

Q: Β  Does JMI accept CAT score for MBA admission?

A:

As per the official 2023 brochure of Jamia Millia Islamia, the university considers the scores of Jamia Entrance Test for admission to MBA. Interested students seeking admission are required to have completed their undergraduate degree from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate or equivalent grade. However, students who have a valid CAT score can reach out to the admission office to confirm if such special cases can be treated individually for admission to the MBA programme.
