Universities don’t have to pay fees to adopt CUET: UGC Chairman
Universities can verify candidate's CUET scores against NTA data which will be made available to them.
Clearing air over various apprehensions around the adoption of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), the University Grants Commission Chairman has stated that universities are not required to pay any fees to the UGC or National Testing Agency (NTA) to adopt CUET.
The universities are also not required to sign an MoU with the NTA or UGC for the same. UGC Chairman, M Jagadesh Kumar clarifying the process for adoption of CUET wrote on Twitter: “Would like to clarify that when Universities adopt CUET for UG admissions, they only need to register on NTA website. Universities do not have to pay any fees to NTA/UGC and no need to sign an MoU with NTA/UGC.”
Kumar stated that when students submit their CUET scores during admission, universities can verify these scores against NTA data which will be made available to them. Universities can register at https://nta.ac.in/cuetexam.
This year all the 45 central universities, which include names like the University of Delhi (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), University of Hyderabad, Allahabad University will use CUET score to admit students in their undergraduate courses.
On Monday, April 4, Vice Chancellors of 25 state universities from Karnataka have agreed to use CUET for admissions in BA, BSc, BCom and similar programmes.
The registration process for the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) 2022, formerly known as CUCET will start on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, and will end on May 6. The registration process for admission to academic session 2022-23 was earlier scheduled to commence on April 2 but was later postponed to April 6.
Candidates from all over India can register themselves for CUET 2022 through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) nta.nic.in and cuet.samarth.ac.in.
