JEE Advanced 2023: IIT aspirants have written to Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighting their issues. Students are allowed only two consecutive attempts, one in the year they pass their Class XII and the other right after.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) aspirants are flooding Twitter with the hashtag #FairAttemptJeeAdv2023 asking for an extra attempt at Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. They have written to Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighting their concerns. Students are allowed only two consecutive attempts, one in the year they pass their Class XII and the other right after. Students have requested the Education Minister to reconsider the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2023 so that students get an extra attempt.

All 23 IITs admit students to engineering courses based on their JEE Advanced scores. For JEE Advanced 2022, an additional attempt was announced for students who were eligible to take the exam in 2020 and 2021 but could not do so. Amid pandemic, this was applicable to students of the Class XII 2020 batch, who could not take the exam even once. The students are questioning if a similar relaxation was made in 2022 for the 2020 students so why don’t the 2021 Class 12 pass-out batch deserve an additional attempt?

Students took to Twitter to highlight their demand. One Twitter user wrote, β€œOn growing demands of JEE ADV 2021 Aspirants for an Extra Attempt in 2023; today written to our honourable @dpradhanbjp Ji highlighting their concerns. Already our team with support of students approaching officials for positive outcome. #FairAttemptjeeadv2023,” while another tweeted, β€œ#FairAttemptJEEAdv23 #JEEAdvanced2022 #jeeadvanced2023 #jeemains2022 @IITGuwahati We have been preparing for this prestigious exam since 3 years. We are investing time in this exam again.”
