How to get enrolled with State Bar Councils?
The online registrations for AIBE XVIII exam began on August 16, 2023. Qualifying AIBE is mandatory for law graduates to earn the right to practice in a court of law in India. Qualified candidates are issued the Certificate of Practice (CoP). But to apply for the AIBE 18 exam 2023, the candidate needs to be registered as an advocate with their respective state bar councils.
Since the registration process is done at a state-level, the mode of registration may vary. For example, advocates in the state of Chattisgarh have to go to the Bar Council Office in person and get registered. However, the bar councils of Karnataka, Maharashtra and a few other states have online registration options available for advocates.

Is there any fee concession provided to reserved categories for AIBE 18 (XVIII) 2023-24 application form?
Yes, the reserved categories I. e. Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, PWD candidates of SC/ ST category will get a concession of INR 1,000 on the application fee I. e. they only need to pay INR 2,500 as the application fee. Whereas, the candidates from unreserved categories need to pay INR 3,500. Apart from this, candidates will not be exempted from paying AIBE 2023 application fee under any circumstances.

AIBE 18 Registrations 2023-24: AIBE 18 (XVIII) Exemptions
BCI has also set eligibility criteria for candidates exempted for AIBE exam as mentioned below:
- Law graduates who have passed the three-year LLB or five-year LLB degree before 2009-2010, don't need to take the AIBE exam.
- These candidates can thus practice law in India without the CoP.
- Those who graduated in 2008 or earlier, and enrolled later (irrespective of year of enrollment), are also exempted from AIBE.
Note: For candidates graduating from academic year 2009-10 onwards, the AIBE exam is compulsory for practicing law in India.
