Scam Alert: MBA Aspirants duped for Money! A bogus college allegedly cheated 30 aspiring managers and extorter nearly INR 4.5 Lakh. The extortion took place in the name of taking admission to a management institute named PIBS for the academic year 2023-24. According to TOI, a complaint has been filed by students at Uttamnagar police station. The students alleged paying INR 4.5 lakh as admission fee in exchange of a receipt for INR 65,000 only, according to a senior police officer.
An FIR has been filed and the police has commenced the inquiry. The students also informed that while they were supposed to be taking admission to an institute named PIBS, a different name was mentioned on the admission letter. The students also claimed that they were told both colleges are affiliated to the same group.
Students failed without any explanation
However, in their complaint the students mentioned that the college whose name was mentioned on the admission letter was constantly demanding money. They also stated that the college did bogus and illogical marking and failed them in some internal subjects in the first semester exams held in March. After checking the marking, the students found out that the marking was done without logic. The College also denied to give answers to their query.
When the students decided to approach the parent college, it did not acknowledge them and that is when they decided to go to the police. The students also said that they would organise a strike in Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).
PIBS not under SPPU
Meanwhile, SPPU official has confirmed that no college named PIBS is affiliated to Pune University. However, the name mentioned on the admission letter is affiliated to SPPU. The varsity has now asked the students to file a complaint letter and assured that it will conduct an inquiry into the college affiliated to them.
