IIM Indore hosts Inaugural International Partners’ Day- SETU: Bridging Academic Excellence

Through SETU: Bridging Academic Excellence, IIM Indore has established a benchmark for international academic engagement. The event not only facilitated academic discussions but also celebrated global unity and cultural exchange.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore hosted its inaugural International Partners’ Day—SETU: Bridging Academic Excellence. The event brought together esteemed international academicians and thought leaders from seven countries, including the USA, UK, Russia, France, Germany, Belgium, and India, to enhance institutional alliances and explore the future of global education.

Emphasizing Transformative Collaborations

In his welcome address, Professor Himanshu Rai, Director of IIM Indore, underscored the importance of international collaborations in advancing academic excellence. He explained that the term "SETU," which means ‘bridge’ in Sanskrit, encapsulates IIM Indore’s efforts to foster robust connections with 58 premier institutions across 23 countries. These partnerships aim to create bridges of knowledge and shared growth while addressing global challenges through joint research, faculty exchanges, and collaborative academic initiatives.

Professor Rai highlighted key initiatives aimed at tackling pressing urban and rural challenges, mitigating environmental issues, and encouraging entrepreneurship, stressing that IIM Indore’s programmes are designed to create leaders equipped to confront these critical issues.

Engaging Discussions and Insights

The day-long event featured dynamic panel discussions, interactive presentations, and strategic dialogues. A prominent panel on “The Future of Internationalization” included insights from:

- Dr. Uttiyo Raychaudhuri, Vice Provost for Internationalization at the University of Denver

- Dr. Belgin Somerville, Senior Lecturer at Adam Smith Business School

- Professor Andrea Sianesi, Dean at MIP Politecnico di Milano Graduate School of Business

Moderated by Professor Srihari Sohani, the panel explored the evolving role of international partnerships, emphasizing how academic institutions can become global citizens and create inclusive ecosystems that extend beyond transactional engagements.

The event also included presentations on IIM Indore’s distinctive programmes aimed at community empowerment and sustainable development:

Executive Education

Professor Subin Sudhir presented IIM Indore’s approach to executive education, highlighting its wide range of programmes designed to equip professionals for today’s complex global business environment. He noted that over 20,000 professionals have been trained, with a strong alumni presence across the UAE and GCC, showcasing the institute's expanding global influence.

Q:   Am I going to get a BBA and MBA degree after IIM Indore's integrated programme?

A:

Launched by IIM Indore in 2011, the five-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM) is the first of its kind in India. Theprogrammehas been accredited by the Association of MBAs, AMBA London (4th and 5th Year). 

This five-year managementprogrammeis a combination of both undergraduate (BBA) and postgraduate (MBA). 

All Iims and universities like Alliance University, NICMAR University, Pune, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, NALSAR, NIRMA and Indian Institute of Management Ranchi through IPMAT and JIPMAT scores. 

Many other universities are introducing integratedprogrammein management.  

Q:   What is IIM Indore integrated course?

A:
Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) was launched by IIM Indore in 2011. The programme is one of a kind in India. It is a five year Integrated Programme in Management accredited by the Association of MBAs, AMBA London. Aimed at students who have completed their Class 12 from a recognised board in India, the last two years of the programme are at the PG level. During that duration, IPM students are mixed with the students of the PGP programme and they go through the same set of courses as the PGP students. At the end of the five years, students are awarded a BA (Foundation in Management) and an MBA degree. IIM Indore has adopted a multi-stage selection process for admission to its Integrated Programme in Management. Eligible students are required to appear for IPM Aptitude Test (IPM AT). shortlisted candidates are called for a Personal Interview (PI) round for final selection. Candidates seeking admission to the five-year IPM of IIM Indore must apply via the official website.

Yes, IIM Indore is a good option for pursuing an executive MBA degree. IIM Indore E-PGP course is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) London (UK) and is especially designed for experienced professionals to enhance their knowledge, skills, and capabilities. Additionally, on paying a total tuition fee of INR 17.6 lakh, a student can get an average salary up to INR 27.80 LPA as per the placement report 2023. Professor Srinivas Gunta emphasized the REP's role in nurturing entrepreneurial talent in rural areas through immersive fieldwork, fostering sustainable development and bridging the rural-urban divide.

Cultural Exchanges and Global Unity

The day concluded with enriching cultural exchanges, celebrating the diversity of participating institutions. The event was a reaffirmation of IIM Indore’s commitment to global partnerships, fostering shared success and meaningful impact.

Participants enjoyed a yoga session led by Professor Rai, embracing wellness amid academic discourse. They also visited the historic town of Maheshwar, experiencing its rich cultural heritage, and participated in the vibrant Dhunuchi Pooja during the Navratri celebrations.
