The IIM Kozhikode Women Leadership Programme is designed to equip women with vital skills in negotiation, decision-making, and strategic thinking. With a core focus on leading high-performing teams, the programme aims to empower women leaders to make a lasting impact in India's dynamic corporate landscape.
Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has launched 10-month Women Leadership Programme in partnership with Emeritus. This initiative is aimed at bridging the gender gap in leadership positions across corporate India by empowering women with essential leadership skills, strategic insights, and the confidence to excel in C-suite and board-level roles.
Need for Gender-Inclusive Leadership
The KPMG Women Leadership in Corporate India Report 2024 highlights a glaring disparity in leadership roles, with women holding only 23.2% of leadership positions in Indian corporates. Furthermore, less than 12% occupy CXO roles, and just 1.6% hold leadership positions in Fortune 500 companies in India. With fewer than 30% of women in entry-level roles advancing to senior leadership positions, it is clear that systemic biases and workplace barriers must be addressed to foster inclusivity.
Fostering Resilience and Ethical Leadership
IIM Kozhikode’s Women Leadership Programme is specifically designed for mid and senior-level women professionals. The programme emphasizes building resilience, ethical leadership, and high-performance team dynamics. It combines live interactive sessions with IIM Kozhikode faculty, workshops on strategic negotiation, design thinking, digital transformation, and capstone projects, providing participants with real-world learning experiences. These elements are tailored to address the unique challenges faced by women in leadership roles.
Professor Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode, explained, “Leadership is about breaking barriers and reshaping narratives. Through this programme, we aim to empower women to bring their unique perspectives to leadership roles, enabling transformative changes across industries and organisations.”
Avnish Singhal, Executive Vice President (India & APAC) at Emeritus, shared his thoughts on the collaboration: “This partnership with IIM Kozhikode recognizes the growing number of women eager to pursue leadership roles and the need to equip them with the right skills. At Emeritus, we are taking a significant step towards making this vision a reality, fostering a generation of women leaders who are poised to reshape the corporate landscape.”
