NEET PG 2023: SC issues notice on plea for extension of counselling to fill vacant seats

The bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra said that the matter will be considered after taking a note of the number of seats lying vacant throughout the country.

While hearing a plea seeking NEET PG stray vacancy round counselling 2023 to fill vacant seats, the apex court of India has issued a notice to the officials. 

The court was hearing a plea filed by Tamil Nadu Self-financing Medical Colleges Association. The petition sought directions for extension of NEET PG counselling to fill the unclaimed and vacant seats.

The association claimed that scores of NEET PG 2023 seats will remain vacant in medical colleges across the country if another stray round is not conducted, the Live Law reported. 

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) declared the NEET PG final stray vacancy round allotment result on October 16.

The matter will be next heard on November 24, 2023. This year, MCC has extended the NEET PG counselling 2023 several times. It already conducted four rounds of counselling. 

NBE has released the NEET PG 2024 exam schedule yesterday. The exam is scheduled to be held on March 3, 2024.

"The candidates are advised to check the exact dates of examinations from the Information Bulletins/ NBEMS website as the above dates are purely tentative and subject to approvals & confirmations," said the official notification.

Candidates need to register online to appear in the NEET PG 2024 exam. The registration should be done on the official website - nbe.edu.in.
