Anna University To Hire International Faculty; Announces 50 Percent Waiver in Course Fee

Encouraged by Anna University 383rd QS World University Ranking 2025, the university has planned to hire international faculty and a 50% waiver in course fees for international students in order to attract more foreign students to the university campus.

Anna University QS ranking 2025 stood at under the top 10 universities in the country and under 400 best universities globally. The rankings are calculated on several parameters like academic reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations per faculty, university reputation, international-faculty ratio, international student intake, research network, sustainability and placement records. The university has scored a perfect 100 scores in citations per faculty depicting the quality of research work offered by the university. Despite that, its scores in international student-to-faculty ratio is the lowest at 1.3 scores. 

Consequently, the university has planned to improve its international student-to-faculty ratio and infrastructure and facilities for foreign students. For that, Anna University has decided to reduce fees for international students, as reported by The New Indian Express.

Anna University Reduces Fees for International Students 

Anna University, in order to attract more foreign students, have decided 50% waiver of course fees for international students for all programmes other than BTech in computer Science, BTech in IT and BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Meanwhile, the authorities have planned to prote the university through Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) to attract foreign students. 

“As we are among the top 10 best universities in India as per QS ranking, more number of foreign students will opt for our institute. This year, we are expecting almost 600 to 700 international students on the campus,” R Velraj, Vice Chancellor of Anna University said. 

Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor has also notified that the their facultites are workign with may international faculties in universities across the globe. The varcity is reaching out to international faculty members to provide exposure to their students.
