IIIT Delhi: Seven faculty members get featured in top 2% Most Influential Scientists by Stanford researchers

As many as seven faculty members of IIIT Delhi got featured as top 2% Most Influential Scientists in a study published by Stanford University researchers.

Seven faculty members of IIIT-Delhi were featured in the list of Top 2% Most Influential Scientists (Single Year) in 2023: Analysis of Indian Researchers, a study published by researchers at Stanford University.

The name of these faculties include Dr Angshul Majumdar, Prof. Anubha Gupta, Prof GPS Raghava, Dr Md Shad Akhtar, Dr Rajiv Ratn Shah, Dr Sanjit K. Kaul, and Dr. Tanmoy Chakraborty.

Recently, Prof. John PA Loannidis and his colleagues at Stanford University publish the list of 2% Most Influential Scientists for 2023. The list consists of researchers from different countries and research fields. The list includes more than 2 lakh researchers from all over the world. It includes more than 3500 Indian researchers.

About IIIT Delhi's featured Scientists

Angshul Majumdar completed his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in 2012; he finished his thesis in a record time of less than two years. His research interests are in algorithms and applications of sparse signal recovery and low rank matrix recovery. 
Prof. Anubha Gupta graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 2006. She did her bachelor's and master's in ECE from Delhi University in 1991 and 1997, respectively. She started her professional career with the position of Assistant Director at All India Radio (through Indian Engineering Services) in 1993 and worked there until Feb. 1999. 
Dr. G. P. S. Raghava received his M.Tech from IIT Delhi and PhD from Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh. He worked as Postdoctoral fellow at Oxford University UK (1996-98), Bioinformatics specialist at UAMS, USA (2002-3 & 2006) and visiting professor at POSTECH, South Korea (2004). 
Md. Shad Akhtar completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Patna in 2019. He received his M.Tech from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad in 2014, and BEng from JMI, New Delhi, in 2009. He also has industry experience of more than two years with HCL Technologies Ltd. 
Rajiv Ratn Shah received his Ph.D. in computer science from the National University of Singapore, Singapore. Prior completing his Ph.D., he received his M.Tech. and MCA degrees in computer applications from the Delhi Technological University, Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, respectively. 
Sanjit K. Kaul received the B.Tech. degree in electronics and communications engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, in 2000 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Rutgers University in 2011.
Dr. Tanmoy Chakraborty completed his Ph.D as a Google India Ph.D. fellow in the Dept. of CSE, IIT Kharagpur, India in Sept, 2015. Afterwards, he spent around one and half years at University of Maryland, College Park, USA as a postdoctoral researcher. His Ph.D. thesis has been recognized as the best Ph.D. thesis by Xerox Research India and IBM Research India.
