Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for Undergraduate is approaching for admission to the academic year 2025-26. Candidates planning to appear for CUET 2025 must buckle up and devise effective preparation strategy to ace the examination. To prepare well for the exam candidates must be aware of the CUET exam pattern, syllabus and topper tips. The CUET 2025 exam will be held tentatively in third week of May 2025. CUET UG consists of 33 languages, 29 domain subjects and a general test.

CUET 2025 Preparation: Topper’s Tips
Here are the topper’s tips from the past year to ace the examination:
- Time management: Candidates must start preparing for CUET UG along with the board examination preparation. The syllabus for CUET and the class 12th board examination are similar. Practising the previous year's question paper will help gauge the time limit for each subject.
- Understanding CUET syllabus: Aspirants must understand the CUET syllabus for each subject, language and general test. The syllabus must broken down into daily goals to avoid last-minute rush.
- Focus on concepts: CUET toppers suggest that understanding the concepts of important topics is important. Cramming of formulas or concepts will never work. Candidates must refer to the NCERT books for conceptual clarity.
- Revise and take mock tests: Candidates must regularly take mock test to practice time management and difficulty level. Consistent revision is the key to acing the examination.

Q: What is the CUET marking scheme?
NTA prescribes the CUET UG marking scheme. Check below to know the CUET UG marking scheme 2025:
- Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
- Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
- Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
- If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
- If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
- If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.
Q: Can CUET normalisation reduce marks?
CUET normalisation procss refers to a process of adjusting scores to account for variations in difficulty between different sessions of CUET exam. The aim is to ensure fairness and equity among students who may have taken different sessions of the same exam.
The normalization process shouldn't inherently reduce marks for students. Instead, it aims to adjust scores in a way that maintains the integrity and validity of the assessment. CUET Normalization might involve scaling scores, adjusting grade boundaries, or applying statistical techniques to ensure that the difficulty level of the assessment doesn't disadvantage any particular group of students.
Q: Is there a negative marking in CUET?
Yes. There is a negative marking in the CUET exam. For each wrong answer, one mark is deducted. Negative marking will not be applicable in case of unattempted questions. The marking scheme as per NTA is given below.
