NDA Last Minute Preparation Tips

NDA Last Minute Preparation Tips 2024: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be conducting NDA 2 2024 written exam on September 1, 2024. During the days leading to NDA exam, candidates should focus on revision. They should not touch any new topic as it can create confusion. Candidates should practice previous years’ NDA question papers to gain familiarity regarding the type of questions asked in the exam, as well as its difficulty level. To increase speed and accuracy, candidates should attempt mock tests. To boost up the confidence of candidates, we have provided last-minute preparation tips for NDA exam.

NDA Exam Pattern

NDA exam pattern constitutes two papers-Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). The mathematics part will be of 300 marks and GAT section will be of 600 marks. In the GAT section, questions are asked from physics, chemistry, general science, history and freedom movement, geography, and current events. All the questions will be objective-type MCQ questions. Both papers have to be completed within 2.5 hours.

A penalty of 1.33 marks is deducted for wrong answers in GAT and 0.83 marks are deducted for incorrect answers in Mathematics.

NDA Syllabus 2024

NDA syllabus for Maths and GAT is given in the table below:

Mathematics: Algebra, Calculus, Matrices and DeterminantsIntegral Calculus and Differential Equations, Trigonometry, Vector Algebra, Analytical Geometry Of Two and Three Dimension and Statistics and Probability

GAT: The GAT syllabus of NDA is divided into two parts. Part A comprises questions from English, while Part B carries questions from General Knowledge. Questions in English part are asked from Grammar and Usage, Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Cohesion. Questions in General Knowledge are asked from Physics, Chemistry, Social Studies, General Science, Geography, and Current Events.

Last Minute Preparation Tips to Crack NDA exam

Check below some useful last minute preparation tips for NDA exam:

Revision

Days before the exam, candidates need to revise what they have learned so far. For each of the topics in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, jot down all the important formulas and go through them during your free time. Formulas are the basis of calculations and help to solve questions easily. Forget all your doubts, there is no more room for any doubts at this stage. Candidates must concentrate on what they know and what they have learned until now and ace these topics.

Manage Time

Managing time efficiently is the most thing in the exam. Note that in Mathematics there will be 120 questions while in GAT there will be 150 questions. The total time allotted to each section is 2 ½ hours. Candidates need to have a strategy to complete all the questions in the available time. It becomes easier to manage time in the exam when candidates practice mock tests. Solve as many mock tests as possible to be able to manage time properly.

Plan for the exam day

Candidates should plan what they are going to do at the NDA exam centre. Make a blueprint of the exam day strategy and practice accordingly from now on. On the day of the exam, for the Mathematics section, screen the paper as soon as candidates get the NDA question paper and figure out which questions to attempt first. This or a similar type of technique can be used to attempt all the questions.

Analyse the trend

Analyse the previous years’ question papers and find out the chapters/topics from which most questions are asked. Note the chapters that are of high priority and focus on them.

Important topics for Maths

Candidates in this subject should practice Binary Systems of Numbers, Logarithms, Inequalities, Set Theory, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Sequence and Series, Permutation and Combination, Probability, Binomial theorem, and Matrices.

Important topics for GAT

In GAT, candidates should practice Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, Current Affairs, etc.

Effective Ways to Crack NDA Exam in First Attempt

The five effective ways to crack NDA exam in first attempt are given below:

  • Determine a fixed study time and make it a habit to sit with your books at the allotted time
  • Make a note of your daily progress 
  • Give more time to self-study during the last minute of preparation
  • Improve speed and accuracy of solving questions
  • Go through the current affair books during your free time
  • Take breaks between your studies
