CUET BA LLB Syllabus 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) releases the CUET exam syllabus for different domain subjects in a PDF format. Admissions through CUET exam require candidates to choose a specific domain/subject mapped to the desired course. Typically, all universities offering BA LLB through CUET require the applicants to choose a language in Section-I among Hindi or English, and Legal Studies for Section-II. General Test, that is Section III of CUET remains optional in most of the universities offering BA LLB.

Q:   What is the syllabus of CUET?

A: 

Common Univeristy Entrance Test (CUET) result is released by National Testing Agency. CUET syllabus is divided into three sections viz., Languages, Domain Subject and General Test. CUET language section assesses candidate through reading comprehension (factual, literary, and narrative), literary aptitude and vocabulary. CUET syllabus second section- domain subject assesses the candidate's in depth knowledge on the subject he/she has opted for. CUET third section- general test includes general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, quantitative reasoning and logical and analytical reasoning. CUET syllabus is available now. Q:   Are NCERT books enough to cover CUET syllabus?

A: 

Since the CUET syllabus is in line with the Class 12 Board exam syllabus, it can be safely assumed that the NCERT books are enough to cover the syllabus of the exam. Candidates must note that, CUET exam tests students' understanding of the concepts and ability to apply them in various situations.

Therefore, to prepare well and get a good score, it is advised that students refer to other study materials and books designed for national level competitive entrance exams. The CUET UG syllabus is in tune with the Class 12 Board exam syllabus. The chapters and topics are similar to Class 12 syllabus. Unlike other UG entrance exams, CUET UG syllabus does not include Class 11 syllabus.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of the CUET exam?

A: 

The difficulty level of the CUET exam ranges from moderate to tough. Since the CUET UG exam is held for multiple subjects and slots, the difficulty level of the exam varies from subject to subject. Sometimes, the difficulty level may also vary for different slots. The difficulty level of exam is also relative and the same exam's level of difficulty may vary for different candidates. While for the well prepared candidates, the difficulty level will be low, for the underprepared students, the level of difficulty will be on the higher side.

Q:   Is CUET syllabus based on CBSE syllabus?

A: 

No, CUET syllabus is not based on CBSE syllabus as claimed by Education Ministry in Rajya Sabha on August 02, 2023. The CUET exam is designed to assess the general understandig of the candidate in subjects he/she has opted for. CUET UG is on of the biggest UG entrance exam carnival conducted for admission in cebtral, state, private and deemed universities.

Q:   Is CUET UG syllabus for Language section similar for all languages?

A: 

Yes, CUET UG syllabus for section 1 is same for all sections included. NTA suggests the syllabus for all the sections. The syllabus for CUET Language section will be inclusive of following topics, but are not limited to:

  • Reading comprehension (This will include three passagaes of maximum 300-350 words):
    • Factual
    • Narrative
    • Literary
  • Verbal ability
  • Rearranging the parts
  • Choosing the correct word
  • Synonyms and antonyms
  • Vocabulary

To prepare for the CUET UG section- 1 Languages candidates must solve CUET sample papers and take mock tests to become familar with the type of questions that will be asked in CUET UG. There are no specific topics for reading comprehension. Candidates are advised to read the newspaper on daily basis to improve the reading speed and comrehension.

As per the CUET exam pattern, the subjects are divided into three sections as:

Q:   What is the CUET marking scheme?

A: 

NTA prescribes the CUET UG marking scheme. Check below to know the CUET UG marking scheme 2025:

  • Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
  • Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
  • Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
  • If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
  • If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
  • If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

Q:   Which are the languages included in CUET UG?

A: 

CUET UG langauge section will now consist of 13 languages instead of 33 languages. The 13 langauges of CUET UG 2025 are: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Whereas, the languages which have been deleted are: Arabic, Bodo, Chinese, Dogri, French, German, Italian, Janpanese, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri, Nepali, Persian, Russian, Santhali, Sindhi, Spanish, Tibetan, Sanskrit.

Some universities may require the candidates to appear for either English or Hindi language in Section-I. While some CUET participating universities will want applicants to appear for English only or Hindi only as the subject mapping.

Q:   Does the CUET syllabus also include chapters from Class 11?

A: 

No, the CUET 2025 syllabus does not include the chapters or topics from Class 11 syllabus. The exam, which is conducted for multiple subjects and languages, has to be prepared by completing the Class 12 syllabus only. NTA has also released the subject-wise syllabus of the CUET UG 2025 exam, which will be held in third week of May in hybrod mode.

However, students may refer to the Class 11 syllabus for better conceptual clarity and to make the base of the domain subjects stronger. But as far as the actual syllabus is concerned, it will only be based on Class 12 CBSE or NCERT syllabus.

Q:   Can I opt for several subjects in section II of CUET to apply for various courses?

A: 

Yes, an CUET applicant can opt for one or more combinations of the following:

  • Section I: Language Test
  • Section II: Domain subject test
  • Section III: General Aptitude Test

Candidates will be able to opt up to a maximum of five subjects in order to apply to different applicable courses that require these subjects for being eligible for admissions. Candidates can choose subjects irrresptive of subjects studied in 12th grade under their eligibility conditions for a particular programme.

Candidates are advised to check the University where the desired UG course is offered and check the eligibity test to appear for admission to the university. Follow the steps below to check the eligibility test:

CUET 2025 Exam Pattern

According to the CUET 2025 pattern, the exam is divided into three sections. In the first section, the Language Skills of candidates will be tested through Reading Comprehension passage questions. CUET UG total marks is 250 Marks for each subject. Candidates can choose up to five CUET subjects. Each subject's total marks will be 250 marks. Q:   When are CUET previous year question papers released?

A: 

CUET previous year question papers have been released for CUET 2024. National Testing Agency releases the CUET previous year question papers for all subjects and languages. Candidates preparing for CUET must download the previous year question papers to become familiar with the CUET exam pattern and the difficulty level of the question paper. NTA releases the CUET question papers for Languages, Domain subjects and General test seperately. No pre registrations are required to download the CUET previous year question papers.

Q:   What is a good score in CUET UG?

A: 

On analysing the CUET UG cut off for the academic year 2024-25, scoring above 700 marks can be considered a good score in CUET UG. Candidates scoring above 700 may fall in the category of 95+ percentile. Candidates can get admission to top universities like University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and other top central universities in the desired course. Given below is the range that is considered good for admission to top universities:

  • Very Good Score: 700 and above
  • Good Score: 650 and above

Score range between 400-649 is considered an average score. Admission on the basis of the average score can et into any decent college in India accepting CUET scores.

Q:   What is CUET UG passing marks?

A: 

There are no prescribed passing marks for CUET UG. In order to know if a candidate has passed the CUET 2025 exam or not or is eligible for admission to desired course and university, they are required to check the passing marks released by the colleges/university seperately. After the declaration of CUET result, all the colleges or universities will release the course-wise passing marks or CUET UG cutoff, which will be used for shortlisting candidates for admission to UG courses.

On the basis of the cut off released by the CUET participating universities and candidates meeting the criteria will be offered amdission to UG courses.

Q:   What is the CUET UG syllabus for general test?

A: 

CUET UG general test will cover the topics from the following:

  • General Knowledge, Current Affairs
  • General mental ability, Numerical ability
  • Reasoning (Simple application of basic Mathematical concepts, quantitative arithmetic, algebra geometry, mensuration and statistics)
  • Logical and analytical reasoning

Candidates preparing for the general test of CUET UG are advised to stay updated with the current affairs by reading the newspapers and magazines. Candidates must gather study materials to prepare for the syllabus of General test and practice ample questions to become familiar with the type of questions asked in this section. Q:   Is it compulsory to attempt all the sections of the CUET question paper?

A: 

CUET UG section I and section II, consisting of the language and domain-wise subjects are compulsory to attempt. On the other hand, the third section consisting of General Knowledge and aptitude questions is not compulsory to attempt unless it is the requirement of the programme the candidate has applied for. Candidates will have to choose the subjects while filling the CUET UG application form. In case candidates do not opt for the General Test, then they will be evaluated only based on their performance in Section 1 and Section 2 as per the requirement of the course and university that candidate has applied for. NTA will use the normalisation method to score candidates and universities will prepare the merit lists accordingly.

Q:   What type of questions are asked in the CUET exam?

A: 

The CUET questions are objective and carries multiple choices (MCQs). Each question will have four answer options. Candidates will have to choose the correct answer option and click on it with the help of mouse. Since CUET UG 2025 exam will be conducted in a CBT mode, test-takers will be able to mark only one answer option. In case it is the correct option, they will get full marks and in case of wrong answer, negative marking scheme will be applied. Hence, candidates must ensure the accuracy of the answer before selecting the answer. Before the final submission, they can change the answer option in case they realise that they have entered a wrong answer option earlier.
