Are CUET marks enough to get admission to the desired institute? Know how the scores are converted to percentile and normalised scores to ensure fairness. Know in detail the key differences between marks, percentile and normalised scores. Check the complete procedure here.
CUET marks and percentile are two different scores that assess a candidate’s performance in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). CUET marks or CUET score are the total number of marks that the candidate has scored in the exam following the exam marking scheme. Whereas, the CUET percentile is a relative score that indicates how well a candidate has performed compared to the candidates in similar and other sessions of the exam. CUET 2025 results will be declared after the release of the CUET UG final answer key. CUET 2025 exam will be scheduled tentatively in May/June 2025 in CBT mode.

Q: Â How is CUET UG cut off calculated?
The CUET UG cut off is determined by CUET participating universities seperately. Parameters on the basis of which CUET UG cut off is released are:
- Total number of candidates that appeared for the CUET UG exam
- The number of seats offered by the participating universities through CUET UG
- The difficulty level of the CUET exam
- Overall performance of the test takers (pass percentage/ score range, etc.)
CUET cut off is based on the percentile of the candidate. To calculate the CUET percentile following formula is applied:
100*Number of candidates appeared in the session with a raw score is equal to or less than a candidate/ total number of candidates appeared for CUET UG.

To learn about the differences between CUET marks Vs Percentile, refer to the table below to understand:
Feature |
CUET Marks |
Percentile |
---|---|---|
What is it? |
The raw scores that a candidate receives for each subject |
A measure of how a candidate's score compares to the scores of other candidates |
How is it calculated? |
The sum of the marks that a candidate scores in each subject |
The number of candidates who scored equal to or lower than a particular score divided by the total number of candidates who took the exam |
What does it indicate? |
A candidate's performance in each subject |
A candidate's performance relative to other candidates |
How is it used? |
Used to determine a candidate's eligibility for admission to a particular program |
Used to rank candidates for admission to a particular program |

CUET Marks Vs Percentile: How is CUET 2025 Percentile Calculated?
CUET percentile is calculated separately for each session. Refer to the steps below to know how CUET raw score is converted into percentile.
- Note the number of candidates who appeared for the exam. Let the number be N
- Filter all students in one shift and arrange them in decreasing order based on their CUET NTA score.
- Note the raw score of each candidate (T) and count the number of students whose raw scores are less than or equal to Denote this number as M
- Then the CUET percentile score is calculated as:
P= M*100/N
Both factors of CUET- score and percentile are important for admission committees when evaluating candidates for admission to Undergraduate programs. However, the percentile is considered a more important factor as it provides an accurate measure of how a candidate has performed. Check the table below to know the CUET expected percentile for the following marks range:
CUET Marks Range | Expected Percentile |
---|---|
250 - 235 | 100 |
234 - 213 | 99 |

CUET Marks Vs Percentile- Normalization Process
This year, CUET UG 2025 will use normalisation process as the exam will be held in CBT Mode. The CUET normalisation process apply for the CUET subjects which are held in multiple sessions. Since the question paper and subjects in different shifts are different, the difficulty level of the question paper may vary. Some students might attempt relatively tougher question papers while some may attempt an easy one. The candidates who attempted the comparatively tougher examination are likely to get lower marks as compared to those who attempted the easier one; the scores of the students across shifts are not directly comparable. There is a need for CUET normalising the marks across shifts to make them amenable to such comparisons.
Q: Â What are the factors affecting CUET cut off for DU?
Multiple factors affecting CUET cut off for DU, include:
CUET UG 2025 Normalised Score
Total number of seats available for admission
- Number of applicants
Category of the candidate

Type of course or college chosen by the candidate
- Difficulty Level of the CUET UG exam
Q: Â How can I access the CUET UG cut off list?
Students can access the CUET UG cut off list only after the cut offs are released by the CUET UG participating universities. The following steps should be followed to access the CUET cut off list of universities candidate is desirous to take admission in.

Q: Â What is the minimum cutoff for Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College CUET cutoff for BCom?
- B.Sc. (Hons.) Botany: 644 for general, 630 for OBC
- B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry: 665 for general, 651 for OBC
- B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science: 672 for general
Q: Â How is CUET normalized score calculated?
The CUET (Common University Entrance Test) normalised scores are derived through a systematic process that ensures fairness across different testing sessions. Here’s a detailed breakdown of how these scores are calculated:
Raw Marks Collection: Initially, each candidate's raw marks are collected after they complete the exam. These marks represent the number of correct answers each candidate achieved.
Percentile Calculation: For each candidate, their percentile is calculated based on how their raw marks compare to those of other candidates who took the exam in the same session. This percentile indicates the relative standing of a candidate among their peers within that specific session.
Session Equating: The process involves multiple testing sessions that may occur over several days for the same subject. The percentiles calculated for each session are then equated to ensure consistency in scoring across all sessions.
Normalisation Process: After equating the percentiles, they are converted into normalised marks. This step helps to standardise scores across varying exam conditions and candidate populations.
Handling Smaller Sessions: In instances where a session has a limited number of candidates, those scores are aggregated with larger sessions. This clubbing ensures that every candidate's performance is compared against a more substantial and diverse group, leading to a more reliable and equitable normalised score.
CUET Result: Process of Converting Raw Score to Normalized Score
Check the illustration below to know how the raw scores are normalized:
Suppose the examination was conducted in four phases as per the details provided below:
Calculation of Highest Raw Score and Percentile Score:
Calculation of Lowest Score and Percentile Score:
Convert Raw Score Into Percentile
The percentile for the above illustrated candidates will be calculated as:
Percentile score= 100*No. of candidates appeared from the session with raw score Equal to or Less than T score/ Total Number of candidates appeared in the session.
