AMU Entrance Exam for BA LLB and CLAT both are the two most sought-after law entrance exams of the country. While both tests serve the law aspirants, there are a few factors that make them different from each other. CLAT offers admission to 25 National Universities that participate in this test. On the other hand, AMU Entrance Exam has just one participating institute, and that is the Aligarh Muslim University. On the basis of level of competition, in CLAT, more than 50,000 students appear for nearly 4000 seats in all the national law  universities under it. On the other hand, AMU Entrance Exam has 120 seats under it (for all the courses combined).

Cracking the AMU Entrance Exam is not very difficult provided you are disciplined enough. Step1- have faith in yourself, plan out your study, mark your weaknesses, and have a leisure time as well. Step2-Read more and practice more. Reading is a must. Newspaper, Law, English and then read more. Step3 -Practice maths and reasoning. step 4- Go through past year's papers and mock tests. Step 5- Revise whatever you read. Make a schedule of revising whatever you read throughout the week. Step 6 -Sit back and relax. Step 7- Cover the topics and then revise 10 days prior to exam. Step8- The d day, be confident, attempt more, take risks and don't be overconfident.

AMU 2025 entrance exam: Know the exam pattern and syllabus

Candidates should be aware of the question paper features such as subjects, type of questions, test medium and other details before appearing for the entrance exam. Moreover, the exam pattern and syllabus prove to be helpful in the exam preparation to a great extent. The exam pattern of AMU entrance exam for all papers will have some common features as under: 

Exam mode: Offline mode i.e. paper-based test 

Exam duration: Two hours

Exam medium: English (subject language incase of language papers)

Type of questions: Objective-type of questions

Total questions: 100 questions 

Total marks: 100 marks

Negative marking: Yes, 0.25 marks to be deducted in case of each wrong answer.

Yes, NCERT books are sufficient to complete the AMU Entrance Exam syllabus. A number of past years' AMU Entrance Exam toppers have claimed that they referred only to NCERT books for preparation. NCERT text books act as the base to complete the syllabus and develop conceptual clarity and understanding of the topics and chapters. However, for practice purposes, students may refer to other books and resources as well. It is advised that while starting the AMU Entrance Exam preparation, candidates refer to the NCERT books and move towards other books and advance resources after that.

Q:   What is the AMU Departmental Test?

The university offers admissions to various courses such as MA (foreign languages), BFA, MFA, MIRM, MHRM, MSc, BVoc, PGD Business Management, MCom, etc. through Departmental Tests i.e. candidates have to apply and appear for the test conducted by the concerned faculty. In some of the courses offered by the faculty members of AMU, there will be no admission test/ departmental test. The admissions for these courses will be based solely on qualifying examinations. The concerned department/faculty will share the qualifying examination and admission criteria with the applicants only.

AMUEE 2025 Preparation Tips

For better preparation, candidates should follow the tips mentioned below for their subjects:

Make a preparation schedule - Candidates should first make a timetable for AMUEE 2025 preparation wherein, they divide equal time for each subject. Moreover, there should be a day-wise timetable for preparation for AMU entrance exam. Devote at least 6-8 hours for overall preparation and, 2 hours each depending on the subejcts. Candidates should also take frequent breaks as and when required to avoid straining eyes and mind. 

Section-wise preparation - To score well in the overall paper of AMU entrance exam, candidates should target scoring good in each section of the paper. Therefore, a section-wise strategy should be made and, prepare accordingly. Write down strengths and weaknesses from each subject and, attempt to clarify the concepts. Candidates should make notes with pointers and diagrams to understand the concepts from each subject easily. 

Cover the syllabus - Candidates should check the syllabus of AMU entrance exam and list out topics not covered. Then, work on covering the missed out topics to score well.  

Practice mock test papers - Candidates should practice questions based on the subjects of AMU entrance exam to improve their scores and test-taking skills. Some experts recommended books also have sample papers that candidates can practice to improve their speed and accuracy. 

Do a preparation analysis - Before ending the preparation plan, candidates should analyze their preparation. They should check the improvement areas in each subject so that they can practice and improve their skills. 

Revise thoroughly - In the last weeks remaining for the examination, candidates should revise each subject thoroughly. No need to start with any new topic, let go of the topics that couldn't be prepared. Revise the topics prepared sufficiently with the help of prep notes and, practice mock questions as well.

However, it is of elementary standard and does not require special knowledge. If you did well in Math in class X, you have an edge. Only section that needs special preparation is legal aptitude.
