Calcutta University Entrance Exam LLM 2022: Registrations, Dates, Eligibility, Result

Calcutta University conducts entrance tests for admission to various UG and PG courses offered by it and its affiliated colleges. The courses in which the entrance test is applicable for admission include BA LLB and LLM. The entrance exams for BA LLB and LLM course is held in offline mode. The CU entrance exams are held in selected centres of Kolkata city. However, the LLM entrance test is held at the university in the department of Law. Candidates who qualify in the entrance exam have to then appear for counselling.

The CU entrance exam application form 2023 is released online. Candidates need to use their own email id to fill out the online application form. Here are steps to apply for the Calcutta University entrance exam 2023:

1. Register by creating a new account on the official website of CU.
2. Login with username and password sent to the registered email id.
3. Do the OTP verification.
4. Fill out the online application form.
5.  Preview the form once before final submission.
6. Submit the form.
7. Print the submitted form and keep it with you, for reference. Do not send in the printed form to the University.

Note: Once the application is submitted candidate cannot change or edit or modify the information. Therefore candidates are advised to check the form carefully before final submission.

Documents to be uploaded in the CU entrance exam application form:

• Candidate’s Passport size photo – Size Max. 50 Kb
• Candidate’s Signature (In English) - Size Max. 30 Kb
• Self-attested copy of qualifying exam mark sheet - Size Max 200 Kb
• Self-attested copy of PWD Certificate – size maximum 200 kb (if applicable)
• Self-attested copy of SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B certificate from govt. of West Bengal only – size maximum 200 kb (if applicable)
• Self-attested copy of police person Identity Card – size maximum 200 kb (if applicable)

The admission process of Calcutta University for all courses is as follows:

1. Check the eligibility
2. Fill out the online application form
3. Appear fr the entrance exam (if applicable for the course applied for admission)
4. Check the result of the entrance test/merit list for admission
5. Appear for the counselling process

The candidates are allotted their entrance test centres for the Calcutta University entrance exam via the admit card.

• Test centres for Calcutta University BA LLB entrance exam 2023 will be in the city of Kolkata only.
• The test centre for Calcutta University LLM entrance exam 2023 will be Department of Law, 51/1, Hazra Road, Kolkata – 700019

For LLM entrance test: Syllabus of Calcutta University BA LLB course

The exam pattern of the Calcutta University entrance test for BA LLB and LLM course is as follows:

For BA LLB:

• Type of questions: MCQ only
• Total marks: 100
• Negative marking: None
• Time: 2.5 hours
• Mode: offline

For LLM course:

• Type of questions: MCQ and Subjective
• Total marks: 100 (60 marks for MCQ, and 40 marks for subjective test)
• Time: 1.5 hours
• Mode: offline

CU release the admit card for the Calcutta University entrance exam online on the official website. The candidates have to login to their account and download the admit card. The admit card is to e carried on the exam in printed format. The exam centre name, address, reporting time, and more instructions are mentioned on the CU entrance exam admit card itself.

No candidate is allowed inside the exam centre without the admit card with a valid photo ID proof and 2 copy coloured photos. If a candidate is taking the facility of scribe then they have to obtain a separate admit card for the scribe. The entrance test admit card must be kept safe even after the exam is over.

To be able to have a smooth experience at the Calcutta University entrance exam centre, candidates must follow some instructions, such as:

• You must sit for the test on the specified venue, date and time.
• You must bring with you blue/black ballpoint pen to mark the OMR (Optical Mark Reader) Answer Sheet. Pencils are not allowed and any marking using a pencil will lead to rejection of the candidature.
• You must report at the examination hall assigned to you positively 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam. You will not be allowed to enter the examination hall after 15 minutes of the commencement of the exam.
• You must not bring with you any Calculator, Slide Rule, Books, Mobile Phones / Pagers or any electronic gadgets inside the Examination Hall.
• No candidate can leave the examination hall before the completion of the examination.
• Candidates must hand over the question paper and OMR answer sheet after the exam is over and before leaving the exam hall.

Candidates must note that the CU entrance exam result shall be put up on the official website. To check the result candidates have to follow the result link on the website. The result shall be in the form of a merit list published at caluniv.ac.in.

The merit in the merit list shall be based on the marks secured by the candidates in the entrance test. Admission is purely based on the merit of the entrance test and college preference given at the time of application form submission.

After the publication of each phase of Calcutta University counselling, candidates have to check their own college allotment status through login id. Those who have been allotted any college have to download “Admission Slip” and they are given two to three working days to get admitted to the concerned college. So they have to make themselves prepare for the same with requisite fees and other necessary documents (10th Mark sheet & Admit Card, 10+2 Mark sheet & Admit, Entrance Admit Card, Admission Slip etc.).

College Preference can be reshuffled through login id only on 1st and 2nd Phase Admission Dates. The change of college preference can be done based on 2 cases as follows:

1. Those candidates allotted college first time in any particular phase may change their college preference after clicking on “click here to go to wait state” without getting admitted.
2. Those candidates not allotted any college also may change their college preference.
