The college is good, average placements, good and decent infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: The placement is decent at our college; approximately 70% of students get placed every year. The average package of my course is 6-7 lacs per annum. Assam electrical board, i.e., APDCL, is the top recruiting company, along with other PSUs also. Many companies offered internships. Top roles are offered in the electrical board companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good their is Wi-Fi in all the classrooms and in the hostel. All the labs are well maintained and all equipment is the latest. Their is also a computer lab that consists of a supercomputer also. The library is also nice and well maintained. The food of the hostel is average and there is a lack of medical facilities but sports and games are good.
Faculty: The faculty are good and helpful and also very strict in the electrical department. The teaching quality is nice. The course curriculum is relevant but you have to give your extra effort and have to do other projects and internships from yourself other than college to be industry ready. The semester exams are nice and the level of the examination is moderate and 70% students pass the examination.
Other: Our college is the first engineering college in North East India, inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru ji in 1955. I chose electrical engineering because I love electrical technology and the best thing about the course is I can also go into the semiconductor industry, which is highly demanded nowadays. It is a very old course so it should be updated. In our college their is one cultural fest called pyrokynesis and one technical event. Our college is located in the Guwahati city itself. The campus is nice but it is an open campus and many people live near the college.

Cit Kokrajhar. Best for book lovers for the library.
Placements: Placement in my college is quite low; last year it was just 60%. The highest package was 9 Lacs per annum, and the average was 4.5 Lacs per annum. Infosys offers the most. The internship in our college is quite low too. Assistant Engineer was the highest post offered last year.
Infrastructure: The outer infrastructure is good, but a few classrooms are not as good as others. The library is the best thing here. The best. The hostel has the best facilities here: big, clean, Wi-Fi 24/7, and water 24/7. The mess is bad, but the canteen is good. The sports facilities are very bad. We don’t even have an indoor stadium, and sports equipment is not given regularly.
Faculty: The faculty is very good, very well-qualified, and they are very helpful in many aspects. The course directly can’t make anyone industry-ready, but it helps. The semester exams are hard, but it’s an engineering exam; it should be hard. But the passing percentage is good (80%).
Other: I was a computer nerd from my childhood, so choosing this stream was obvious. The campus surroundings are good as it is not crowded, and the place is very peaceful. Scholarships are offered here, but only for ST/SC students. Connectivity with the main town is poor, but we have 4 buses that run on time, so it is okay. The best thing is its fest, which is Techracy and Estascy.

    Faculty and hostel are good.
Placements: Placement is not good; internships are only conducted by Nielit. Not good so not all will get placed. The only student who is placed is on their own, not in college. The faculty is good. The environment is good for studying. All the facilities were good until it came to mess food.
Infrastructure: The library is a digital library and it is good for studying. All the books in the library are for students. The labs are good. Classrooms are good and larger. Sports areas are good, like football, tennis and volleyball. Everything is good but not the canteen, like the weekend is off.
Faculty: semester exam is good all the subject questions are as asked per class. All the questions comes from the class topic, which is studying in class. If anyone studies class notes, then he/she is able to do so. Wi-Fi is not available in classes. Only Wi-Fi is available in hostel.
    Other: Event is good .

A thorough review of Assam Engineering College.
Placements: More than 50% of students are placed in campus placement every year. This year, till now, 18 Lacs is the highest package offered, and talking about the average, it would be 50,000-60,000. Many PSUs and OIL companies come to our college. Students get internships as well.
Infrastructure: Hostels are well-structured comparatively, though the scope for improvement is definitely there. Wi-Fi is available in all the hostels. There is a separate hostel for the 1st-year students. Food is also decent in the hostel. Every month-end, a hostel fest is arranged, and various dishes are prepared that day. All the events, pujas, are celebrated in the hostels.
Faculty: The faculty members of AEC are well-qualified. They are available for the students always and help us throughout. The course is also made in a way that maximum outcome can be achieved. They conduct various presentations and public speaking programs to make us ready for our future work. Semester exams are moderate. One can pass the exam by covering the course outcome.

If you want to complete an engineering degree with minimal packages this college is for you.
Placements: 30 percent of students are placed. The highest package is 12 lacs, and the average package is around 2 to 3 lacs. Top recruiting companies are Wipro and TCS. On average, 30 to 40 percent of students get an internship at another company. So, college placement is average. But most students are able to qualify for off-campus placements.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available, but the speed is not very fast. Also, it has a proxy, so some mobile applications and games can't be run. Classrooms are decent, with AC facilities. The hostel fee is very low, only 3,000 rupees a year. Mess fees are not included in the hostel fee.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and well-qualified, but the teaching quality is not good. The curriculum is not very beneficial for becoming industry-ready, since its focus is on the theoretical part. Semesters are neither too easy nor too difficult. The pass percentage is almost 95 percent. Only classroom theory and questions are on the exam.
Other: This course is almost the same as the computer science course. Since I was not able to take computer science at other universities, I chose this college. This course can be improved by reducing theoretical content and focusing mainly on practical things. However, it has one of the best campuses, full of trees and lakes. Some small events, like "holidays" and "udbhab", are organized here.

    Good college and friendly professors.
Placements: In my course, 10% of student are placed because there are not many companies hiring civil engineers, so placements in civil engineering are very poor. The highest package in my college is 15.2 LPA and the lowest is 3.5 LPA and average is 6.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies in my college include APL. About 30% of student got internships from my course, with companies like NPTEL.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi connection in our college and the Wi-Fi is fast. Labs are available and the classrooms are clean, with tables and benches. Projectors are also available, and there is a library. Classroom are big, accommodating 100 students easily.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, Ph.D. graduates and so smart and they have so much experience in teaching and are highly knowledgeable. The curriculum relevant. Our course includes field visit every year. The semester exam are very difficult in our college. The pass percentage in my course is 70%.
Other: It is a good course so I chose this.

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

B.E./B.Tech at Gauhati University - A Good Choice?

Based on student reviews and feedback, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Pros:

    * Infrastructure: The college has modern infrastructure, including smart classrooms, fully-equipped labs, and Wi-Fi facilities.
    * Faculty: Teachers are generally helpful, knowledgeable, and experienced, with most holding Ph.D.s from reputed institutions.
    * Course Curriculum: The curriculum is relevant, industry-focused, and prepares students for real-world challenges.
    * Placements: Most students (around 70%) get placed in reputed companies, with average packages ranging from INR3-INR6 Lacs per annum.
    * Extracurricular Activities: The college organizes various events, fests, and cultural programs, providing ample opportunities for socializing and skill-building.

    Cons:

    * Hostel Accommodation: Unfortunately, there is no dedicated hostel for B.Tech students, leading to issues with accommodation.
    * Teaching Quality: Some students reported that teachers' teaching styles could improve, and some might find it challenging to grasp certain concepts.
    * Limited Industry Exposure: While the curriculum is industry-focused, some students felt that the college doesn't offer sufficient exposure to real-world projects and challenges.

    Verdict:
While there are areas for improvement, overall, B.E./B.Tech at Gauhati University seems to be a decent choice for those interested in electronics and communication engineering. With careful planning and preparation, students can leverage the college's strengths and overcome its limitations.

Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech courses at Gauhati University?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.E./B.Tech Courses at Gauhati University

Based on student reviews, here's what emerges:

    * Limited Scope: Students mention that the college provides "very less scope" for preparing students for industries. This suggests that the placement cell might not be as effective in providing sufficient resources and guidance for students to secure jobs.
    * No Specific Information: Unfortunately, there is limited information about the placement cell's performance, such as job placements, average salary packages, or internship opportunities.

It appears that while the college offers good facilities and infrastructure, the placement cell could improve its efforts to support students' career prospects. It is essential for students to take initiative and prepare themselves independently to succeed in their chosen fields.

Q:   What is the fee structure for B.Tech at Gauhati University?

    A:

The total tuition fee of Guwahati University ranges between INR 33,000 and INR 4.55 lakh. This tuition fee, however, is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence, is indicative. Additionally, this fee is inclusive of the fee of BTech offered at Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology and other affiliated colleges of the university. Hence, the huge gap in the range. Apart from the tuition fee, students who are selected for admission, are also required to pay an application fee of INR 400 through SBI. Over and above the total course fee components, students are required to pay the fee of the applicable entrance exam through which they intend to seek admission to Gauhati University.
