PTU BTech Admission 2025: Counselling Dates, Eligibility, Registration, Choice Filling, Seat Allotment

PTU BTech counselling is a Centralized Online Counselling for making admissions to the following courses, running in the affiliated / autonomous Colleges of IKGPTU Jalandhar, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana and MRSPTU Bathinda:

1. BTech & BTech Fee Waiver (1st year)
2. BTech & BTech Fee Waiver (2nd Year) (Lateral Entry)

Apart from the BTech courses, admission is also granted to BPharmacy & BPharmacy Fee Waiver (1st year), BArchitecture 1st year, MTech (Full Time), MBA, and MCA 1st year courses. The candidates who wish to be admitted to any college/university affiliated with IKGPTU Jalandhar, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana and MRSPTU Bathinda have to register for centralised counselling. The seats are allotted to the candidates based on their marks in the 10+2 examination.

Candidates who wish to participate in the Punjab BTech admission counselling must ensure that they have the below given conditions fulfilled:

Reservation Criteria

State of Eligibility: Candidates will be allowed to participate in PTU BTech counselling either as a Punjab state candidate or as a candidate of other states. For the Punjab state candidates, 85% Quota is reserved and 15% quota is reserved for the other states.

Category: Candidates can apply for PTU BTech admission counselling under various categories as per their state of eligibility. Candidates should have a relevant certificate if any reserved category is opted for.

• There are 13 types of categories for the candidates participating under Punjab State (85% Quota) and 3 types of categories for the candidates participating under Other State (15% Quota).
• According to the selected category, further Sub-Categories will be displayed.

Academic Requirements

• All those candidates who have passed 10+2 examination from a Board recognized or established by the Central/State Government can register for PTU BTech admission 2025.
• Candidates must have studied Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics / Information Technology / Biology / Informatics Practices / Biotechnology / Technical Vocational subject / Agriculture / Engineering Graphics / Business Studies / Entrepreneurship.
• Agriculture stream (for Agriculture Engineering): Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.

OR

• Those candidates who have passed a minimum 03 years Diploma examination from Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal (SLIET), or any such examination from any other recognized State Board of Technical Education with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.

OR

• The candidates who have passed two years certificate course from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal (SLIET) shall be eligible.

Steps to apply for PTU BTech admission 2025:

• Registration: To register candidates have to visit the official website and fill in the details asked. To verify the registration process, candidates will be sent an OTP to their registered mobile number and email ID.  Enter the received OTP and “Verify OTP” button (Please check the Spam / Junk Folder of your email if the email is not received in your Inbox).
• Student Login: After submitting the registration form, click on Click here for Student Login for further process. Candidates have to enter the Reference No. and Password received through email on the registered email ID and click on Login.
• Fill in the application form: After successful login, candidates have to fill in the following details:
  • Personal details
  • Reservation and other details
  • Qualifying exam details
• Upload scanned documents: After filling out the application form and submitting the same, candidates have to upload the scanned documents as needed. Candidates have to upload the following documents:
  • Candidate’s photo

• • Candidate’s signature
  • Migration certificate
  • Gap affidavit, if needed
  • 12th marksheet
  • Other documents if any
• Pay the application fee: Once the documents are uploaded, candidates have to pay the counselling fee. After submission of fee the a confirmation page will appear.
• Proceed to choice filling: After payment of the fee candidates can proceed to choice filling.
• Print the application form: Once the choices are filled, candidates can print the online application form and keep it with them for reference.

PTU BTech Counselling Registration Fee

The counselling fee for PTU BTech 2025 counselling is as follows:

• To participate in Centralized Online Counselling every participating candidate has to pay a Counselling Fee of INR 2000/- (Non Refundable) for each course. This fee applies to all candidates irrespective of their category.
• If any candidate wants to apply for counselling for two separate courses (eg for both BArch & BTech courses), then they have to pay INR 4000 in total ( 2000/- for each course separately).
• If any candidate submits the counselling fee in the 1st round of counselling and also wishes to participate in 2nd round of counselling, then they need not pay the counselling fee again to participate in 2nd round.

PTU BTech Counselling Admission Process 2025

Those candidates of Punjab State, whose parents’ annual family income from all sources is less than 8 lacs, can opt for the Tuition Fee Waiver scheme. They have to produce the income certificate (of the current year) at the time of admission.

Note that, Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme is applicable under IKGPTU & MRSPTU for Punjab Residents only. Also, the Tuition Fee Waiver seats are very limited (5% of intake) and issued as per guidelines of AICTE/PCI/Punjab Govt. subject to availability of seat and merit of the candidate. Make sure that, while opting for the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, select branch(es) with “TFW” during choice filling along with the normal branch(es). Also, arrange the filled choice(s) in the preference order and keep the selected TFW Branch(es) on top preference. Students admitted under the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme shall not be allowed to change the institution or course under any circumstances.

After successful payment of counselling fee candidates will be able to fill and save choices. It is advised to fill maximum choices in preference order to get the desired seat as per the merit.

Step 1: Once the payment of the application fee is done, candidates can check the next window for filling out the choices.

Step 2: In the choice filling section candidates have to fill in their preferred course, University, college, and branch.

Step 3: Candidates can fill in as many choices as they want.

Step 4: Ensure to fill in the choices as per the order of preference only. Candidates can use the Up-Down button to move the selected choices one step up or down. They can also use the swap choices option to interchange the choices. The delete option can be used to remove unwanted or wrongly selected choices.

Step 5: Once the choices are filled and the candidate is satisfied with the choices, they have to lock the choices. If the choices are not locked by the deadline, then the filled choices will be automatically locked.

Step 6: After locking the choices candidates can take print of the choices, as well as the complete application form.

Based on the details filled in the application form, the merit list will be prepared and rank will be assigned accordingly. Based on the assigned rank and preferred choices the counselling result will be prepared and accordingly provisional seat allotment letter will be issued.

Note that admission to the BTech 1st year course will be made based on the inter-se-merit of 10+2 examination result.

The rank will be assigned to the candidates based on credentials filled by the registered candidates in the application form. Also, the ranking will be as per the rules and regulations of Participating Universities and notifications issued by the Punjab Government from time to time.

Candidates can check their PTU BTech results from their respective login accounts on the date of the result declaration. The provisional seat allotment letter will be available in the login account of eligible candidates. Such Candidates will also be informed by SMS. After getting counselling seat allotment results the candidates are required to upload requisite documents on the counselling portal for provisional verification at the college level.

Note:

• The allotment of seats is purely provisional. The final confirmation will be done as per University guidelines.
• The seat allotted based on wrong credentials filled by the candidate will be cancelled at the time of reporting and the student will not have the right to claim this seat.

Candidates are not required to visit the allotted institute in person. The reporting will be done online only. For this, the Candidate will be required to upload the following scanned documents (Coloured copy) on the counselling portal from their login account, after the provisional allotment of seat:

• Sikh Religion Exam Score Card (If Qualified)
• DMCs of 10+2 / Diploma
• 10th DMC
• Residential Certificate (Domicile or another valid Address Proof)
• Reserved Category Certificate (as Applicable)
• Passport Size Photograph
• Migration Certificate of Qualifying Exam (if selected as Yes at the time of registration)
• Income Certificate (as Applicable)

PTU BTech Counselling 2025 Document Verification

Once the candidates have uploaded the scanned documents, the same will be verified. After provisional online verification of the uploaded documents, the link to upload the admission fee slip will be activated in the candidate login.

The candidate will have to submit the applicable semester fee in the College’s Bank Account (as details mentioned in the allotment letter) in the online mode and upload the admission fee slip (record of transaction of Fee payment) from their login. After verification of the admission fee slip by the allotted institute, the seat will be confirmed provisionally.

This whole process, that is the provisional verification and provisional confirmation of the allotted seat, is to be done within the prescribed period. If the candidate does not report or the allotted seat is not confirmed within the prescribed period, then the allotted seats shall be stand cancelled and the candidates shall not have any right to claim the seats, whatsoever. It is in the interest of the candidates to report at the earliest to the allotted College.

PTU BTech 2025 Counselling Withdrawal of Seat: Candidates can withdraw their confirmed seat during the reporting period of each round or within 7 days from the last date reporting of the last round of the PTU BTech 2025 counselling.

The Candidates falling under 85% Punjab quota and 15% Other States quota, irrespective of Got a Seat or Not Got a Seat in the 1st Round of Counselling or could not participate in the earlier round after depositing the counselling fee, can participate in the 2nd round of PTU BTech Centralized Online Counselling 2025.

The new candidates need to follow the complete procedure as round 1 to participate in the 2nd round of the PTU BTech 2025 counselling.

Candidates who already registered in round 1 and wish to participate in 2nd round of counselling, are required to login to their Account with their counselling roll number and password in which the popup page will open to take the consent of the concerned candidate to participate in 2nd round of counselling. By confirming the registration form the candidate will be considered in 2nd round and further activities will be done as per the counselling schedule. The rest procedure will be the same as of 1st round of counselling.
