July 5, 2023: The World Designing Forum and the Agra Development Authority recently collaborated to host a fashion show, in which the Fashion Design department of the School of Architecture and Design recently took part. Our gifted students displayed their stunning outfits at the occasion, which expertly illustrated the evolution of Indian fashion. Renowned designers and public figures like Sabyasachi Satpathy, Rina Dhaka, and Nehal Chaudasama attended the presentation. The captivating collection that our aspiring designers from K R Mangalam University created, which was influenced by the rich tapestry of fashion history, was the result of their hard work, devotion, and enthusiasm.
A remarkable sort of art, fashion reflects society, culture, and the human soul. From the opulent aesthetics of ancient civilizations to the rebellious tendencies of the 20th century, it has consistently changed, fusing innovation with an appreciation for its origins. On Day 1, our young designers set off on a thrilling voyage through the history of fashion, learning about classic trends and trailblazing figures that have shaped this amazing business. They took their cues from pivotal events in history, including the exquisite elegance of the Mauryas and the boldness of the Harappans. The event's collection was a lovely combination of the past and present, paying homage to the trailblazers that made the fashion we wear today possible.
On Day 2, the students showcased an impressive assortment of India's exquisite crafts, including Gotta Patti, Madhu Bani, Sujani, and Kutch Embroidery. These crafts serve as meaningful reflections of our cultural identity and pay tribute to the talented craftspeople who have devotedly preserved these traditions. They go beyond mere artistic expression. The student designers had the honour of working with well-known artisans over a 25-day period, becoming fully immersed in each craft's essence and obtaining priceless insights into the artisans' distinct viewpoints. The students have created collections that genuinely capture the essence of these crafts by fusing their newly acquired knowledge with their artistic talents.

On April 29, a JAM (Just A Minute) session, namely ‘Chakka JAM,’ was held to assess the students' oratory talents. The participants were University students who passionately took part in the event and demonstrated their best storytelling talents on the assigned topics.
There were two rounds: an opinion round in which students were given a topic and allowed one minute to prepare before speaking on it, and a ‘what if’ round in which participants were given a hypothetical circumstance and instructed to talk on it. To avoid any language barriers, both rounds were held in two languages: Hindi and English. Sara Khan (Professor, SOET), the competition's judge, announced the results after all of the participants had completed their performances. Prakhar Shrivastava (BJMC) won the first prize.
