B.Sc. in Agriculture - Batch of 2028
Offered by College of Agriculture, Vellayani - Kerala Agricultural University
4.2
3Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Really great course. Highly recommend.
Placements: Campus placement is very low. You'll have to write a government exam or apply for interviews on your own. But jobs in the public sector and private sector are plenty, so it won't be that hard to get a job if you have decent grades, and there is still placement in companies like Cadbury, Reliance, Tata, etc. It'll be great since it's a very diverse field, and you'll get jobs from pharmaceuticals to food companies. Also, you could do UPSC; many people do that too.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure is very good, but hostel infrastructure is only okay-ish. There is Wi-Fi, labs for every department, and a huge library. Well-maintained toilets are there. The UG building for B.Sc. Agriculture is new, and it's all well-kept. Classrooms have projectors, platforms, and podiums, and each class has like 4 or 5 ACs too.
Faculty: From the 2024 batch onwards, the syllabus has changed according to the Sixth Dean Commission, and according to the course, it got easier under the new NEP. It's more of a skill-oriented course now, and you'll have a lot to do more than studying. You'll get hands-on experience in major agriculture aspects and related fields. It's a very good course, giving you peace of mind. We have theory classes for 100 minutes a day, practical for 90 minutes, and another 90 minutes for fieldwork. That's how our classes are going in Semester 1. Also, there is an all-India tour in the 3rd year. All the facilities are amazing, and they all have doctorates.
Other: Well, I chose this course by chance when I didn’t get admission to medical, but there’s no reason for having any regret. This course is also the best there is, and you'll have a lot of fun studying and spending time with your friends in the fields in the mud. It'll be like how it was in childhood again. Right now, I don’t feel anything should improve; it’s the best there is. Events are wonderful here, and seniors are great. They're very supportive, encouraging, and helpful. We have a very good cricket pitch where India vs. Australia U19 took place in 2008, and we have an indoor stadium.

M.Sc. in Forestry (Silviculture and Agroforestry) - Batch of 2024

4.4

If you are interested in the forestry course, COF Thrissur is the best option.
Placements: A total of 15 students were admitted to the five departments for Masters in Forestry. In my department, there were 3 people. Semester-wise, the fees will range between 12,000 to 15,000. Most of the students will apply for teaching or scientist professions. After the master's, you can apply for project assistant positions.
Infrastructure: In the department, you will get facilities like a fully furnished lab, Wi-Fi, classrooms, and a library. They also provide time for sports. Games like football, basketball, cricket, shuttle, chess, and volleyball are played at the inter-university level. Good quality and quantity food are available from the mess. The canteen is also neat, clean, and you get food at an affordable price. The hostel is also equipped with Wi-Fi.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified, knowledgeable, and helpful. They always guide us in our academic matters. The teaching quality is also good. The curriculum is relevant for many competitive exams. If we study, we can crack the exams. More than 90% is the pass percentage. In the Masters program, they give 50% importance to research and thesis work.
Other: Scholarships like INSPIRE, JRF, SRF, and UGC are provided to qualified students. For M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, KAU scholarships are also available. Every year, intercollegiate arts and sports events take place. Field visits are often offered. High-level profiles of jobs like IFS can be cracked.

Satisfied with faculty members, infrastructure, and facilities.
Placements: This college actually does not provide placements. But has a high scope in future due to changing climatic conditions. Everyone is supposed to go for internships in their 3rd or 4th year. This college exposes students to various conferences of the same so that students get better jobs.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is good. There is a library and also a central library on campus. There is full-time Wi-Fi connection in college. The printing and copy-taking facilities are provided in this college. Labs are spacious enough for a batch of 15 students and have necessary items in them.
Faculty: Teachers and other guest faculty members are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They are open-minded and helpful to every student. The course curriculum is very relevant and prepares us to hire at any vacancy where we can apply our subject knowledge.
Other: Our batch has 12 students at present but can hold upto 30 students. Faculty members are good. There are two new introduced courses like integrated microbiology and integrated biology in this college.

Best college for pursuing MBA!
Placements: As a current MBA student at Kerala Agricultural University, I've observed that approximately 85% of students from my batch were successfully placed in various reputed companies. The highest package offered was around INR 12 Lacs per annum, whereas the lowest package was around INR 4.5 Lacs per annum. The average package stood at approximately INR 6.5 Lacs per annum. The top recruiting companies for our course include multinational corporations such as Deloitte, TCS, Infosys, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank. About 70% of students secured internships with leading companies during their course of study. Top roles offered to MBA graduates from Kerala Agricultural University include Business Analyst, Marketing Manager, Financial, and Supply Chain Manager.
Infrastructure: As a current MBA student at Kerala Agricultural University, I can provide insights into the infrastructure and facilities available for our course and hostel. The university offers modern amenities to support academic excellence. The classrooms are equipped with audio-visual aids, facilitating interactive learning sessions. The library houses a vast collection of books, journals, and online resources, aiding research and study endeavors. The university provides Wi-Fi connectivity across the campus. Regarding hostel facilities, the university ensures a comfortable living environment for students. The hostel is well-maintained, with adequate facilities such as rooms, recreational areas, and laundry services. The quality of food served in the mess and canteen is satisfactory, offering a variety of nutritious meals to cater to diverse dietary preferences.
Faculty: The faculty members in the MBA program at Kerala Agricultural University are highly qualified and knowledgeable in their respective fields. They bring a wealth of experience from both academia and industry, which enriches the learning experience for students. They are approachable and always willing to assist students in understanding complex concepts and addressing any queries or concerns they may have. The curriculum of the MBA program is meticulously designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of various business disciplines, including marketing, finance, human resources, and strategy. The semester exams in this college are rigorous but fair. They assess students' understanding of the course material and their ability to apply it effectively in different contexts.

Really good infrastructure and facilities with very well educated and friendly faculty members.
Placements: About 70% of our students have been placed in jobs. The lowest salary offered was 30,000, and the highest was 4-5 lakhs. The top recruiting companies are located in Australia. There are many opportunities offered by our course, and it is an emerging topic in this world.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are well-equipped with smart boards, blackboards, air conditioning, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The computer lab and library are well-equipped, and the hostel rooms are large and well-equipped. The food in the mess is only average, but there is a lot of encouragement for sports and arts, which supports our co-curricular activities.
Faculty: The course curriculum is very relevant to the emerging problems in our world. The teachers are very well educated and helpful, and provide sources for the syllabus and internship opportunities. Semester exams are not that difficult, but they make sure that relevant questions are included. A 50% score is required to pass.
Other: I chose this course because I didn't score high enough on the entrance exam to get into my preferred field, which is agriculture. However, this course is a relevant and interesting topic that made me choose it. I think this course should be given more importance in our country. Every festival in our country is celebrated in a sustainable and economical way. The college is not very crowded and has a very good environment with lots of plants. It also supports extracurricular activities such as arts and sports.
