NIT Hamirpur: An Honest Review.
Placements: We get eligible for internships during the 5th semester and for placements during the 7th semester. Companies like Tata Power, Reliance, Jio, Larsen and Toubro, Noida Power, Exide, Schneider Electric, Honda, Maruti, JSW, etc., come to the campus. The highest package in my branch was 15 Lacs, and the average package is around 8 Lacs. In 2024, around 70% of students got placed. My plan after getting my degree is to go for a master's degree. A less number of companies give internship opportunities compared to placements. Companies like Jio, Honda, Wells Fargo, Amazon (now banned us), and some more came for internships, but they selected a very small number of students, though they got PPOs.
Infrastructure: Hostels are less according to the number of students, so rooms are congested because they have more students. Rooms have beds, chairs, tables, and almirahs. For the first three years, students live in 3/4 occupancy rooms. Bathrooms are not maintained but are cleaned regularly. Mess food is average. There was no Wi-Fi facility in my hostel, but 2-3 hostels were having it, though the quality was not good. The library was big and contained many books. Medical facilities were good, and medicines were free. There were 4-5 canteens in the whole college.
Faculty: In each semester, we had 4 exams (2 quizzes, a midsem, and an end sem). There was a 75% attendance criteria in the college. The faculty-to-student ratio was poor, but it has improved as they have recruited some more teachers in my last year. But class strength is too big to learn in the class. Some teachers are very strict about attendance, and some are lenient. Faculty members also do not care much about the students. Most of the exams were easy to medium-difficult if you just studied 1-2 days for the exam. Some of the subjects of the course were relevant.
Other: The admission to this college is on the basis of the JEE Main examination. Then the students have to register themselves on the JoSAA platform, and they will be assigned this college on the basis of their choice and merit in the exam. There is no interview or GD for the admission process. NIT Hamirpur has 2 fests, one technical and one cultural. Nimbus (tech fest) is arranged in the month of March, and Hillfair (cultural fest) is arranged in the month of November. The college has a team for cricket, football, basketball, badminton, chess, and table tennis. There are many clubs and societies, both technical and cultural, like dance clubs, music, bhangra clubs, etc.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2027
4.6
4Placements5Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
There will be good placements at this college.
Placements: Since it is a national institute of technology, it has good placements, and top recruiting companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Infosys, and many more companies will visit. The highest package will be around 50 Lacs per annum, and the lowest package will be around 4 Lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: The hostel will cost one Lacs four thousand per year, and the hostel rooms will be very clean. There will be room sharing, like 2 or 3 per room. If you want to be with any specific sharing, it will be provided. The mess food will be average, the same all other colleges, and there will be sports that we can participate in from our college side. The canteen will be good with moderate prices.
Faculty: It's a national institute of technology, so it has good faculty, and the faculty members are also PhDs. The teaching quality will also be good. The semester-end exams will be of moderate to difficult type, and the pass percentage is 40. There will be two internals for one semester.

B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2028

Good environment overall, but the hostels are of very bad quality, with several water problems.
Placements: Around 76 students are in my batch. The highest package for chemical engineering last year (2023) was 52 lakh, while the lowest is not specified. The top recruiter was HUL (Hindustan Unilever), and a total of 100% of students got placed last year, with an average package of around 10 lakh.
Infrastructure: Most of the faculty is knowledgeable and good, but some teachers are quite rude and misbehave. Certain lectures can be hard to understand because of the teachers' accents. They also frequently remind us that we are beneath them, which I feel is inappropriate when addressing freshers.
Faculty: Some teachers have very good knowledge and behavior, while others are rude and misbehave. They try to portray themselves as superior while ensuring that even the slightest mistakes are pointed out at every opportunity.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2027

Good placements in 2018 and good infrastructure and sports facilities.
Placements: As my course is electrical engineering, the student placement percentage is around 70 percent. The highest package offered in my course is 24 LPA, the lowest is 2.4 LPA, and the average is around 10 LPA. Top recruiting companies are BHEL and Havells. Top roles offered are power engineer and junior engineer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is one of the best in the state. Wi-Fi facilities are available, labs are well-equipped, classrooms are well maintained, and libraries are very good. Any book can be issued easily. Hostels are good and well maintained. The quality of food in the mess is okay; breakfast is very nice, lunch is okay, and dinner is a nightmare for students. Medical facilities like a dispensary are present and very good, and sports facilities are present.
Faculty: Some teachers are very helpful and are highly qualified from IITs and NITs; teaching quality is good, but some teachers are just there for delivering lectures. The curriculum is very old; it doesn't make students industry ready. It is very difficult to pass the semester exams, as the paper set is very tough, and students have to study very hard for the paper. The pass percentage is around 33 percent.
Other: I choose this course because I love this branch of electrical; it suits my interest best. The best thing about my course is making different things and circuits. The better curriculum should be there to make it more interesting and industry ready. Every year, Nith Hillfair is organized, and singers are invited. Every student gets a chance to showcase their talent. Scholarships are provided to students. Extracurricular activities are there, but students here only study.

Infrastructure: College campus has a total of 15-16 hostels, with separate hostels for boys and girls. Hostels are assigned based on seniority, i.e., first-year students are allocated different hostels, and the same for second, third, and fourth-year students.
Faculty: All the faculty members are highly knowledgeable and well-qualified. They hold Ph.D. degrees in engineering and technology. Curriculum is based on a semester-wise system, and students are required to pass each semester exams and secure the necessary credits.

Overall the college is good with good infrastructure.
Placements: The placement are on an average of 10 to 11 LPA, including all branch wise. At top, in terms of placement is CSE, after that is ECE, electrical, mechanical and then chemical. One more thing placement depends on you, how you improve yourself here.
Infrastructure: Campus wise the college is good but you have some restrictions in beginning of 1st year but overall it is good to take admission. There is no issue regarding mess food. It is decent as expected but the infrastructure is awesome. It is surrounded by mountains and trees.
Faculty: You will have a little bit academic pressure but the faculty is awesome. The teachers are highly knowledgeable, you won't have any issue regarding studies. There is a library too in which there are a lot of books. There is a study room also in campus, you will feel free to study.
