The eligibility criteria for the BA LLB Hons course at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow (NLU Lucknow) are as follows :
- There is no upper age limit for the undergraduate programme in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
- Candidates must have secured 45% marks or its equivalent grade in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination) if they belong to the General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories.
- Candidates must have secured 40% marks or equivalent in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination) if they belong to the SC/ST categories.
- Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April are also eligible to appear in the CLAT examination. However, they shall be required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
- The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the Course.
The admission to the BA LLB Hons course for the academic year 2024 is based on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), which was conducted on 2 Dec ’23 .
During the 2023 placements, 85% of BA LLB (Hons) and 93% of LLM students were placed. Earlier, 60% of BA LLB (Hons) and 22% of LLM students were placed during the 2022 drive. RMLNLU offers good placements annually to its BA LLB (Hons) and LLm students. According to the NIRF report, 158 BA LLB (Hons) students were placed from the total 171 graduated students of the batch 2024 with a median package of INR 7 LPA. The median package offered to the LLM batch 2023 was also INR 7 LPA.

After the CLAT 2025 Revised Result, Round 1 seat allotment has been released by RMLNU Lucknow. Aspirants would have to decide whether they want to accept, revise or withdraw from the seat allotment process before the final date for the new counselling registration round gets over. Those who want an upgrade will be required to pay a confirmation fee to secure their seat at the institution.
The CLAT 2025 admission process, which is completely online, will be concluded after 5 rounds. The process included registration, merit list result and then the seat allotment process according to candidates' preferences. Candidates have the choice to either accept, upgrade or exit from their assigned seat at any counselling rounds. For those who accept their assigned seat, they can then pay the counselling and admission fee as needed to complete their admission process.
To get the RMLNLU requires a strong score on the CLAT (Common Law Admission Test). Scoring around 70-75 in mocks can be a good starting point, being a OBC candidate, since some NLUs have reserved seats for OBC categories, which increases your chances to get the college for that reserved seat.
If you not got a seat in RMLNLU, you can significantly improve your CLAT score. Aim for consistent practice and focus on your preparation in the months leading up to the exam.

NLU Lucknow BA LLB admissions are done through the CLAT entrance examination. Aspirants, need to apply for the BA LLB course on or before the RMLNLU BA LLB application deadline. For admission to RMLNLU, candidates must pass the CLAT exam and complete the CLAT counselling process. The online application process for CLAT involves registration, payment of application fees, and document uploading. Students must pay an application fee for CLAT. RMLNLU BA LLB placement 2024 has been released. A total of 24 students from the 2024 batch were placed.
