B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2025
4.2
3Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Strong faculty, Industry- Relevant Curriculum, Vibrant Campus.
Placements: 60 percent of students were placed from my department. The highest package offered in my department was 1,200,000 LPA, and the lowest package was 300,000 LPA. The average package was above 400,000 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Tata Projects, L&T, and Vedanta.
Infrastructure: Most departments are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi to ensure seamless internet connectivity for research. Classrooms are typically equipped with multimedia facilities like projectors and smart boards. University libraries usually have a wide range of textbooks.
Faculty: Our college has dedicated faculty who are approachable and willing to assist students. The faculty are typically well-qualified, with many holding advanced degrees (Masters or Ph.D.) in their respective fields. Our college has two exams: one mid-semester and one end-semester.
Other: The batch I am referring to consists of those who joined the course in 2021 and will graduate in 2025. I chose this course because of a strong interest in mechanical engineering coupled with a desire to pursue a career in the automotive industry.

NERIST pros and cons. Hidden behind the hills of Northeast.
Placements: The placements are average. The average per annum incomes which our college gives range from 3 LPA to 9 LPA. Many known companies do come, like L&T, TATA Projects, Vedanta, OIL India Ltd. Unknown small companies also come for non-technical posts. Otherwise, you can prepare well for GATE and get better placements.
Infrastructure: Academic blocks and classroom infrastructure are average. You won't find broken tables and chairs in classrooms. However, hostels are the worst here. Every single room will either have broken windows or broken walls, and some have water leaks too. Even the electricity wiring is very bad; the way they have done the wiring in the hostel is so bad that it can't take heavy loads, and during summer, there is always the problem of electricity overloading. Drinking water supply is very bad, both in the hostel and academic blocks. The tube lights and bulbs we have to buy by ourselves.
Faculty: The teachers here are very good and have good knowledge. Unlike other institutes, our teachers are very engaging and frank with us students. They are open-minded and love to interact with us. They teach the concepts very well and try to make sure that we have understood the concept well. The exams are also quite good. The questions you get here make sure that you have understood the concept properly in the classroom.
Other: NEIRST has lots of events and other extracurricular activities. RACAF is a yearly college event which will help you showcase your talents in singing, dancing, photography, drawing, arts, and so many things. It's an event where you can make your hobbies better or explore other new hobbies. Then there is SHRISTI, a technical fest where you can apply your engineering knowledge and aptitude knowledge to solve puzzles and participate in various events like Robo Wars.

Life at NERIST, Arunachal Pradesh.
Placements: Very poor placements; 40/450 students got placed with the highest package of 8 LPA and the lowest of 2.16 LPA. There is no dedicated placement officer and very poor conditions for placement but its getting better, and some new initiatives are being taken to make placements better.
Infrastructure: As the institute is very old, the infrastructure is very old: small classrooms, a lack of technology, no smart classes, no advanced labs, old labs with sufficient technician, lack of types of equipment, etc. But in this regard, new buildings are being constructed and slowly, things are getting better.
Faculty: Some old teachers are very good and helpful but most of them are retiring and no new faculty members are being recruited. Research scholars take classes but they are not that efficient and inexperienced. The curriculum is mostly relevant, with some unusual things. Exams are conducted with the utmost seriousness.

Overall Experience Was Best of My Knowledge: Great Campus Life and Very Good Environment.
Placements: Above 75% of students got placed last year. The highest package offered to students was 18 LPA by Power Grid, while the average package was 9.9 LPA. The top recruiting companies included Vedanta, Tata Projects, Oil, and Power Grid. More than 75% of students secured internships at Tata Projects and Vedanta.
Infrastructure: My department is Electrical Engineering, and we have all possible labs, a library, and classrooms equipped with smart boards and projectors. There is 24/7 Wi-Fi availability in our department. In our hostel, we also have Wi-Fi, a common room for group interactions, various games courts, and a garage. The mess provides good quality food. On campus, there is an NHU (Nerist Health Unit) where a doctor is available 24/7.
Faculty: The teachers in our department are very helpful and qualified, with all of them holding doctorates in their subjects. The course curriculum is relevant and provides various industrial training opportunities for students. They plan trips to visit nearby industries for training. We have exams in one semester, including mid-semester and end-semester assessments. The semester exams are quite tough, requiring a minimum score of 35% to pass.
Other: I chose Electrical Engineering because of my interest in electrical things, and there are great job and placement opportunities in this field. I wish our college had better transportation services and improved practical classes, as some equipment is quite old. Our college holds many events every year, such as the cultural fest called RACAF and the sports event called Synergy, along with various other cultural events. The campus crowd is fascinating, and the connectivity among different departments and classrooms is excellent. The atmosphere of our campus is beautiful, surrounded by greenery that provides fresh air and a pleasant environment. NCC and NSS are additional extracurricular activities available on campus.

More or less, the college is great.
Placements: So far, there have been very few placements in my department. The top companies are Amul and Nestle, but they really don't want to come so far away from the main land for recruitment. So the campus selection is really low. But the TNP cell is working hard on this.
Infrastructure: The lab and the infrastructure are really good; we have all the equipment that we need for our business, whether in a farm lab or a food lab. The medical facility is also good; there is everything available for indoor and outdoor games, and the Wi-Fi is also great.
Faculty: Faculty members are also good. The teaching quality is also good; we have specialized labs and lab attendees for every subject. In the farm machinery domain, we are industry-ready, but due to the scarcity of faculty in the food domain, we have less knowledge.
Other: The campus life is really great; we have a great ambience, and the campus is really silent. A cultural festival like Sonabyss Racaff is the oldest cultural festival in Arunachal Pradesh, and a technical festival like Shristi is really good for us.

Surrounded by the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh, good placement in 2023, developing infrastructure.
Placements: In the current final batch of UG and PG, approximately 60% of students are placed, with the top recruiters being big tech companies, management firms, and consulting firms. The highest package in my department was 72 LPA in the year 2023, with the lowest being 4.5 LPA and an average package of 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are equipped with modern, advanced equipment such as smart boards, projectors, sound systems, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. The central library has nearly 100K books, top-notch interior, and 24*7 Wi-Fi and electricity. Hostel rooms are average, equipped with Wi-Fi, common rooms, recreational areas, sports facilities, etc.
Faculty: Experienced, expert faculty members provide classes. The student-teacher ratio is acceptable. The course curriculum is similar to that of top tech institutes like IIT and NIT and is relevant to the current market. Semester exams are easy to moderate, with a pass percentage of more than 90%.
