Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech courses at NMU?

A:
{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.E./B.Tech Courses at NMU

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, the effectiveness of the placement cell at NMU for B.E./B.Tech courses can be summarized as follows:

* Limited Placements: According to several students, around 10-20 out of 60 students get placed every year, indicating a relatively low percentage of successful placements.
* No Guaranteed Placements: Most students agree that the college does not guarantee placements, and students need to reach out to companies individually to secure a job.
* Few Companies Visiting Campus: Some students mentioned that only a few companies visit the campus for recruitment, limiting the number of job opportunities available.
* Internship Opportunities Available: Although placements may be limited, most students reported receiving internship opportunities, either from the college or through self-effort.
* Roles Offered: Reviewers mentioned that the roles offered include positions like manager, quality officer, production officer, and more.

Overall, while the placement cell at NMU seems to face challenges in securing jobs for all students, it appears that some students manage to find employment opportunities through individual efforts or internship programs.

Very happy with the faculty, good placements in 2017, well-reserved infrastructure of the college.
Placements: Our college started in 1983, and it is a very reputed college. The placement is about 60 percent in college. The highest package was 6 LPA. Very famous companies took interviews in our college and selected students who can help their company in the future for growth. The highest placement was from the computer engineering department.
Infrastructure: I am from the mechanical department, and our college has a separate building for each department. Our department has the most number of labs in our college, like fluid mechanics lab, CAD lab, mechanics, etc. The labs are well maintained. Hostel facilities are also very nice and very affordable. The library of our college is very vast and has plenty of books.
Faculty: The teachers of the college are highly educated and well-experienced. They teach with their full effort and focus on practical knowledge instead of only learning the books. They create interest in the course. The teaching helps the students to enter the industry. Exams are knowledge and concept-based, so we have to study well for the examination. The passing percentage is 24%.
Other: There are many courses in our college, like computer engineering, mechanical, civil, E&TC, electronics, and computer, which are the most demanding courses in the industry. I chose this course because I have an interest in machines. The best thing about the course is that the course is very demanding. I don't think there is a need to improve anything because everything is going alright in the mechanical department. Events are celebrated in a very good manner. The students of the college are also very friendly. The campus of the college is very huge with a big playground. The scholarship is 50,000 in the college. The tutors motivate us to take part in extracurricular activities.

There is a good campus, placement, and good teaching. I suggest you take admission in this college.
Placements: There are above 60% of students placed in my course. The highest package in my course is above 7 lakhs, and the lowest is [missing value] lakh. I don’t know how many companies are required in my college, but there are web development, software development, etc.
Infrastructure: There is an average Wi-Fi facility in my college, and the labs are the best but old. The classrooms are neat and clean in my college, and the library is the best. It gives me the best facilities in the library. Hostel facilities are good, and they give full priority to all students. The mess and canteen tastes are good.
Faculty: All teachers are well-educated and they are all helpful to students. The teachers are knowledgeable, and their teaching quality is good. The exam difficulty level is average in all semesters, and there is a 70% pass percentage in my college. The students are industry-ready for all difficult things.
Other: I chose this course because I love computers and their systems. The best thing about my course is there are so many packages of this course.

Review of Government College of Engineering Jalgoan.
Placements: The placements in the college are not that good. Only 4 to 5 students in your batch (class of 60) get placed that too on campus and pool campus. The college tries to get more placement records but fails to do so. The students struggle a lot here to get placed in this college.
Infrastructure: The college provides all the facilities, which are Wi-Fi, a lab, a smart board, a library, and a reading hall, but the labs are not up to the mark, and every department has only one smart board while you get one projector in one classroom. Sometimes you may feel the lab equipment is not working well because it is too old. The hostels in the college are very good and are very affordable. The hostels are the best part of the college.
Faculty: The curriculum is very good every branch has a nice and relevant curriculum. The faculty here is very well experienced and holds very strong knowledge. The exams here are conducted in 2 terms, mid-semester and end-semester. The midterm consists of 30 marks and the endterm consists of 60 marks and the remaining 10 marks are for internal.
Other: The college is set up in a single building; all departments, academic blocks, offices, and labs are in the same building, which is of 2 floors.

RCPIT is one of the most disciplinary colleges.
Placements: Around 85% of students are placed every year from RCPIT. The highest salary package offered is 7 LPA. The average salary package offered is 4 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 3.5 LPA. Companies that visit RCPIT include Infosys, TCS, and many more. Around 70% of students get paid internships in the 6th semester from RCPIT.
Infrastructure: RCPIT's infrastructure is awesome. All buildings have Wi-Fi facilities. Classrooms are all air-conditioned and have bright lighting. Library of RCPIT is a sea of knowledge for every student. Hostel facilities are good, and food is of average quality.
Faculty: All the teachers are very helpful at RCPIT, and qualifications of all the teachers are of a high level. There are PD holders on staff at RCPIT, along with M.Tech degrees. RCPIT's curriculum is designed to build students' skills to a level where they are able to handle industry-level problems. Semester exams are of moderate to difficult level. The paper pattern is followed by DJ Sanghvi College of Mumbai.
Other: I like to dive into the world of technology, and that's why I chose this field. RCPIT provides all the necessary skills related to software engineering. RCPIT organises all types of events on the campus.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of these reasons: Very bad faculty members and Money-oriented.
Placements: The college provides placement facilities, but it is not known to any 1st, 2nd, or 3rd-year students, probably because the packages are very low. The college does too much show-off when it comes to placements, but it is not at that level like other Raisoni colleges in metropolitan cities.
Infrastructure: The college has an IT lab, but they will not allow you to sit there even if you are working on your own laptop. You are not even allowed to sit in your own classroom for any purpose other than lectures. Wi-Fi can only be used for 20 minutes in one day. Classrooms are closed every time, and when you sit in another classroom, that department staff will scold and insult you for sitting in their department’s classroom. The canteen sells snacks at higher prices than MRP (violation of consumer rules) and does not maintain hygiene. Many students have seen cockroaches and rats in the kitchen area. The college has various labs, but they are mostly for show-off as even core engineering students are not allowed to use them. The college is money-oriented but does not give much facilities for our fees.
Faculty: No, this college can never make any student industry-ready. If the student is, then it’s because of their own hard work. Basically, I am saying this because college teachers are not qualified. They only have basic knowledge and less experience in teaching. For example, in the first year, we had a teacher for C programming who was newly appointed at that time. Then that teacher taught us Python too. Now that same teacher is teaching us DSA in the second year. This means there’s no faculty for separate departments; they just change subjects as semesters change. College faculty members are not supportive of innovation and projects; they only want good attendance in their lectures and waste time in college for lectures. These teachers say on their own that they are learning the subject as they teach because they don’t have experience teaching it. To talk about courses, I believe they are far behind colleges in Mumbai and Pune, including subjects that are not important. Semester exams are easy as some teachers give the question papers to students. They do this because they have not taught even single chapters completely. Faculty fear about their reputation, which leads to students becoming completely blank-minded for industry jobs.
Other: Who doesn’t like college life? I chose this course as there is scope in this field in the future. Talking about events, the college always asks to gather money for every event, even for freshers. Campus crowds can only be seen at the time of exams and submissions because at other times the college does nothing, not even proper lectures are conducted. Faculty members are not supportive of extracurricular activities; they directly say that it’s not their problem. For example, if you take part in an Aavishkaar event where one guide is compulsory to be present, no guide comes from this college. Not even a single teacher attends. When asked to fill out the Mahadbt scholarship form, they waste too much time and always say to come at another time. They are just like some government officials. The college documentation staff is very bad to students and always makes students feel like cheap objects.
