Q:   Is M.Sc. at NMU a good choice?

A:
{Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's what we've found:

* Placements: While some students have had successful placements, others haven't been as lucky. According to one student, "Only 20% of students get jobs, and only management is playing with the future of students." However, another student mentioned that "about 50% of the students got placed" with salaries ranging from INR1.28 Lacs to INR3.6 Lacs per annum.
* Infrastructure: Some students have praised the campus infrastructure, mentioning that the hostels are "lush green and cool," with "best facilities" and a "good mess." Others have criticized the lack of basic amenities, such as a canteen on campus, clean washrooms, and inadequate library resources (e.g., limited book lending period).
* Faculty: Most students have expressed positive views about the faculty, describing them as "helpful," "well-qualified," and "knowledgeable." One student even mentioned that the professors are experienced and willing to help students resolve issues.
* Course Curriculum: Some students have suggested that the course curriculum is outdated and needs to be updated. Another student noted that the exams are relatively easy, but that doesn't necessarily translate to real-world relevance.
* Internships: Although placements may be limited, students can still pursue internships through the summer internship program.

Overall, while M.Sc. at NMU may not be perfect, it seems that certain areas, such as faculty and infrastructure, receive praise from students. However, concerns about placement rates and outdated curriculum remain. Ultimately, the decision to choose M.Sc. at NMU depends on individual priorities and expectations.

Here's a summary of key points in bullet form:

* Placements: Limited availability, with some students reporting success (50%) and others struggling
* Infrastructure: Varied opinions, with some praising the hostels and others criticizing basic amenities
* Faculty: Generally regarded as helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable
* Course Curriculum: Outdated according to some students, with suggestions for updates
* Internships: Availability through summer internship programs

Faculty: I am grateful for the teachers. Projectors are used while teaching and practicals are conducted as per schedule. Students have been given their tasks which need to complete on time to get good scores in exams. Industry-level learning is also provided, and the student can do various laboratory work in companies. Semester exams are not hard. If we study regularly then we can score good marks.

I was satisfied with placements in the previous year.

The highest salary package offered is 8 LPA by PepsiCo and the lowest salary package offered is 3 LPA by Desai Brothers Limited. Every student gets an internship at a good company, and a stipend is provided for an internship period of up to 6 months.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good, and hostels are clean. Wi-Fi is available in the library as well as in classrooms. Medical services are available and are provided at no cost to university students. There is a large playground available for students to use.
Faculty: Our teachers are knowledgeable and helpful. They are highly experienced teachers. There is a lack of focus on students. Some teachers help you get a good job. This course is relevant as the food industry is very important nowadays and good attention should be given to this course. The semester exams are average. The pass percentage varies according to subject and course.
