The entrance test for Sikkim Manipal University BTech course is commonly known as the Sikkim Manipal Entrance Test (SMET) or sometimes referred to as the SMIT online test. This entrance exam is conducted for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by Sikkim Manipal University and its affiliated institutions, particularly the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT). The SMIT online test assesses candidates' knowledge and aptitude in relevant subjects, and it may include sections on mathematics, physics, chemistry, English language proficiency, and logical reasoning, depending on the specific programme for which the candidate is applying.

The last date to apply for SMIT online test will be announced soon. Candidates must not wait for the application deadline and complete the application process for SMIT online test. While filling out the application form for SMIT 2025, the candidates have to complete registration, fill in the form, upload scanned documents and fee payment.

SMIT online test is held in remore proctored mode. The online test is held in English and has multiple-choice questions (MCQ). A total of 60 questions are asked from Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English. The total marks in the test is 60, where each question carries 1 mark and there is no negative scoring. The exam is held for 1 hour 30 mins duration.

To be eligible for the entrance exam, candidates must have passed their class 12 with a minimum of 50% for the General category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC category in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, Computer Science, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, or Biology. Alternatively, candidates with a Diploma in engineering from a State Board of Technical Education with a minimum of 50% for the General category and 45% for the SC/ST/OBC category are also eligible. Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination may also apply for the entrance exam.

Sikkim Manipal admission to its BTech courses is based on valid scores of national and University based entrance exams. Candidates need to clear the entrance exam and fulfil the eligibility criteria for Sikkim Manipal University B.Tech course admissions. The national entrance exams accepted is JEE Main and the University Entrance Exam is  Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology entrance test.

During Sikkim Manipal University placements 2022, a total of 567 UG and 65 PG students were placed according to the NIRF report. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is approved by the regulatory bodies such as Medical Council of India (MCI), Nursing Council of India, Indian Association of Physiotherapy, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Distance Education Council. SMIT will announce the dates of the SMIT online entrance exam 2025. The exam is expected to be held in various phases and the Sikkim Manipal Entrance Test (SMET) or Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) online test will take place in remote proctored mode.
