Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Can I get direct admission to Pune University?

A:
UniPune admission for a majority of PG and UG courses, such as M.Sc. M.A. M.Tech, M.Com B.A. And BBA among others, is based on the Online Entrance Exam (OEE) conducted by the University. Additionally, there are numerous courses, such as MCA MMM, Advanced Diploma, MPH E-MBA, LL. M. and M. Lib. ISC among others, where the admission process is completely based on merit in the previous qualifying exam (Class 12 for UG admission and UG degree for PG admission). Thus, students will not be able to get direct admissions to Pune University.

Q:   How can I apply for Pune University admission?

A:

Candidates seeking admission to Pune University via OEE 2025 can apply online on the official website and submit their application forms. Candidates are required to upload the following documents along with the application form:

  • Photocopy of the statement of marks of the qualifying exam passed (of applicable)
  • Photocopy of the caste certificate/ non-creamy layer certificate issued by the Government of Maharashtra in case of reserved category
  • Photocopy of the medical certificate issued by a Civil Surgeon in case of PwD category

Students are not required to submit print out of the application form or documents at the campus. However, the original documents must be submitted during admission. The application fee for General category candidates is INR 600 (INR 750 with a late fee) and the same is INR 400 for reserved category candidates (INR 550 with late fee). The fee must be paid online via debit/ credit cards or net banking.  However, those seeking admission via MAH CET or MHT CET can apply via the official website of the exams.

Q:   Is SPPU a private or government?

A:

Savitribai Phule Pune University  (also known as UNIPUNE, Pune University and SPPU), is a collegiate public state university. The University is located at Pune, was established in 1949 through Poona University Act and is one of the premier universities in India. Recognised by UGC, it is popularly known as the 'Oxford of the East'. The University is accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC. With over 40+ academic departments,  10+ faculties and 50+ research centres, the university also has about 300+ recognised research institutes and over 700 affiliated colleges offering UG, PG, diploma, PG diploma, PhD and certificate courses.

Q:   What is the admission process of SPPU?

A:

Unipune admission process has multiple steps which is inclusive of application, appearance in OEE exam (for OEE-accepting courses, such as MA, MSc and MTech, among others) followed by the release of merit list and final admission. A detailed description of all the steps is as follows-

Step 1: Candidates seeking admission to Pune University OEE can apply online on the official website and submit their application forms. There is no requirement to submit the required documents or application form offline. The following image depicts the Pune University application process:

  1. Visit the official website and click on PG Admission on the home page.
  2. Register as a new user on the CEEP portal.
  3. Fill up and submit the application form.

Step 2: Candidates, after application, must appear for the course-specific OEE or other entrance exams conducted by the university or Maharashtra state.

Step 3: After appearing for the exam, students are required to wait for the merit lists released on the official website of the university.

Step 4: After the release of the merit list, students are required to fill in the admission form and upload the necessary documents in it. After all the documents are verified by the relevant department, an admission fee challan is generated and the fee must be paid followed by that before the last date.

ISHS might not be your first choice, but it is not a bad choice either.
Placements: I am from 2017-19 batch. Placements don't happen on campus. Our faculty and seniors stay connected through social media. They send in job openings regularly. Top recruiting companies like NGOs, WHO, ICMR, MoHFW and other health research organisations visit our college for placements. Students get jobs like programme implementation, M&E, consultant, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college provides a central library and Wi-Fi facility throughout the campus. The department is well-furnished and equipped for the curriculum needs. The hostel facility is satisfactory, and rooms are available on sharing bases. Quality of food served is decent. The college has 24 hours of on-call medical assistance.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are extremely efficient. Classroom and on-field teaching have been impeccable. They are highly trained individuals with a plethora of experience in research and teaching. Public health lacks trained workers. The course curriculum is bridging the gap between the dearth and the demand in the public health field.
Other: I have chosen this course because our course main aim is to prevent the occurrence of disease with cost-effective interventions. The course curriculum can be tweaked a bit to include recent occurrences.

Q:   Is B.Com at UniPune a good choice?

    A:
    {Source: B.Com students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Pros:
    * Good faculty members who are knowledgeable, helpful, and experienced
    * Relevant and industry-ready course curriculum
    * High-quality teaching quality with good explanations
    * Good infrastructure and facilities, including Wi-Fi, labs, and libraries
    * Availability of scholarships and financial aid
    * Opportunities for internships and placements
    * Strong sense of community and campus life

    Cons:
    * Poor placement record (around 20%-40%)
    * Limited job opportunities after graduation
    * Average salary package (INR 2-4 LPA)
    * Few companies visit the campus for recruitment

Overall, while UniPune may not offer excellent placement records, it seems to excel in terms of academic reputation, faculty quality, and campus resources. However, students should carefully weigh these factors against their individual career goals and expectations.

It's essential to note that individual experiences may vary, and some students might have successful careers despite the challenges mentioned above. For those who prioritize academic excellence and are willing to explore additional opportunities outside of campus recruitment, UniPune could still be a suitable choice.

Recommendation: Consider weighing the pros and cons carefully and conducting thorough research on the university's strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, reach out to current students, faculty, or alumni to gain a deeper understanding of the programme and its outcomes.
