B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) - Batch of 2028

Absolutely dissatisfied because of facility and faculty.
Placements: HP and Dell always visit the campus. There are many internships provided by the college through partnered companies, but we have to pay for them. As of my knowledge, the highest placement in 2024 is 22 lakhs, and the highest ever is 44 lakhs in 2018.
Infrastructure: The hostel is good, but the college rooms are old, and there's no AC in classrooms. Labs are also old; the syllabus feels sometimes like an old syllabus. How are we supposed to sustain ourselves in this AI generation? Wi-Fi is available only in hostels, but not in the college. The roads are the worst.
Faculty: Some faculty are the worst; I don't know how they completed their Ph.D.s and got doctorates. Some faculty will not teach the concept, but they will teach what will come to the exam. Concepts are important, not marks; the college has to review and take care of this. Passing the semester is easy when you listen to classes properly.
Other: In this campus the rules and regulations are strict.

Strong placement opportunities with an industry-focused curriculum and vibrant campus life.
Placements: The computer science and engineering (CSE) department at Vel Tech University, Chennai, Avadi provides excellent placement and internship opportunities. On average, 80-90% of students secure placements annually. The highest salary package offered ranges between 15 LPA - 25 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is approximately 3 LPA - 4 LPA. The average salary package offered is around 5 LPA - 8 LPA. Top recruiting companies for CSE include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Capgemini, HCL, Accenture, Zoho, and Amazon. Some product-based companies and startups also recruit students for specialized roles.
Infrastructure: The CSE department at Vel Tech University, Chennai is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure. It offers Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, modern computer labs, and well-stocked libraries with vast resources for research and learning. The department also has specialized labs for AI, IoT, and machine learning. The hostel facilities are well-maintained, providing clean and spacious rooms, 24/7 security, and Wi-Fi access. The mess and canteen serve hygienic food with a variety of options, catering to different tastes. Medical facilities include an on-campus clinic and ambulance services for emergencies. For recreation, there are excellent sports facilities, including grounds for cricket, football, and indoor games.
Faculty: Faculty members in the CSE department at Vel Tech University are highly qualified, experienced, and approachable, ensuring students receive quality education. The teaching methodology includes a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical application, making learning effective. The curriculum is industry-focused. It covers modern technologies like AI, IoT, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, ensuring students are job-ready. Regular updates align the syllabus with evolving industry standards. Semester exams are moderately challenging, focusing on conceptual understanding and application. With consistent effort, students can excel, and the pass percentage typically exceeds 80-90%, reflecting the support provided by faculty and the structured learning approach.
Other: I chose the computer science and engineering (CSE) course at Vel Tech University due to its focus on emerging technologies, well-structured curriculum, and strong placement opportunities. The best aspects of the course include industry-oriented learning, hands-on lab sessions, and exposure to real-world projects. However, improvements could be made in the faculty-student ratio, and more opportunities for internships with product-based companies would enhance industry connections. The campus is vibrant, hosting various events like teach fests, cultural programs, and sports competitions. Scholarships are available for meritorious and economically weaker students. The campus crowd is diverse and collaborative, with students from different states.

Vel Teach University Review.
Placements: 40% of the students were placed in our batch. The highest package was 17 LPA, which was not provided by the college but was from an off-campus opportunity with Cisco. The college offered only packages less than 7 LPA, and the average package was only 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies like TCS and HCL came to the college, but only 2-5% of students got internships. Top roles were software trainees.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was good in the college; the classrooms and library were well-maintained, but the hostel was not as good as expected considering the amount charged. It was only average. The canteen and sports facilities were good, and the college gave equal importance to extracurricular activities, which was a good advantage for students.
Faculty: The teachers were skilled and knowledgeable, but the teaching standards followed were not good. They focused only on theoretical knowledge, giving no credit to practical knowledge. They concentrated more on completing subjects rather than checking the understanding of students.

"Well-Equipped Facilities, Skilled Faculty, and Career-Focused Curriculum".. .
Placements: I think upto now 40-60 percentage of students are placed in my course and also the placements in our college in this year is very large group of placement are occurring, tcs recently has the top recruitment in our college, according to the company they will get internships for students.
Infrastructure: Our department provides modern classrooms with audio-visual aids, well-equipped labs, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a well-stocked library with diverse academic resources. The hostel offers comfortable, secure accommodation with essential amenities and Wi-Fi. The mess serves hygienic, nutritious meals, and the canteen provides snacks and refreshment. Medical facilities include a health center and hospital tie-ups. Sports facilities feature grounds for cricket, football, and volleyball, along with indoor games like table tennis and chess.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and approachable, offering valuable guidance and ensuring a strong understanding of the subjects. The teaching quality is effective, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Course curriculum is well-structured and updated regularly to align with industry standards, making students industry-ready through a blend of conceptual learning, hands-on projects, and skill development. Semester exams are moderately challenging, focusing on both understanding and application of concepts. With consistent effort, students can achieve good results, and the overall pass percentage generally range from 85-95%.

Average faculty support, good placements in 2021-22, and amazing infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: In 2022-23, nearly 1,200-1,300 placements are secured with the highest salary package of 16 LPA. In 2021-22, a total of more than 2,000 offers were made with the highest salary package of 44 LPA by Amazon. Almost 80-90% of students got placed. The lowest salary package offered for UG courses is 4.5 LPA and for PG it is 5 LPA - 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Accenture, Amazon, Cognizant, Capgemini, TCS, Deloitte, Infosys, etc. Many students got internships in companies like IBM, Infosys, TCS, C-DAC, etc. Top roles offered are software developer, data analyst, technical support engineer, system engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: All lab subjects are assigned 3-4 labs. Each lab has all good tech facilities with good specifications. All labs have Wi-Fi. The library has nearly 1,00,000 books on each subject and has access to over 50,000 E-books and much more. Classrooms are well-furnished and have a fine learning environment. We have average medical facilities. Hostels are very good. Rooms are big enough. The hostel mess food is average. The college canteen food is very good. We have well-equipped gyms for each hostel. There are facilities for outdoor and indoor sports.
Faculty: Some teachers are amazing and extremely knowledgeable in their particular fields. They are very helpful and friendly but some are there just for syllabus completion purposes. The teaching quality is good. The course makes students industry-ready. The difficulty of semester exams is average. The pass percentage is more than 90%.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in learning computer science and pursuing the field. More practical knowledge should be taught by our faculty members. Events and fests are not conducted very often but almost every festival is celebrated. A major fest named Lavaza is held every year. The connectivity is very good. Campus surroundings are amazing. They provide good scholarships to students. There are many extracurricular activities. You can take part in many events, competitions, and hackathons.

Decent college with average placement.
Placements: We have multiple labs for every year, with Mac Lab having a Mac PC for developing, Computer lab with all equipment, etc. Larger equipment has different labs funded by various organizations, like ISERO, TCS, government programs, etc. We get chicken in every day dinner with separate north and south mess. There's a basketball, volleyball, and football ground. A well-furnished gym and food court are inside the hostel.
Infrastructure: Yes, we have highly qualified teachers. They are specially friendly and understanding. They help with doubts and exams. Curriculum is a bit old since following government guidelines. But they go one step further to provide current situation knowledge. Exams are moderate, with almost most getting through them.
Faculty: My goal was government jobs. The best thing is the variety of knowledge, including my specialisation. Improvement can be on the curriculum. They have a variety of clubs organizing events frequently. Once a year we have Fest Lavazza. I personally got a scholarship of 75 percent. We have sports tournaments in every event with an annual event.

Yes. Veltech High Tech was initially affiliated with the University of Madras. In 2001, the affiliation was shifted to Anna University. From 2008 onwards, it was recognized as a deemed-to-be university. However, Veltech High Tech is still affiliated with Anna University.
