Banaras Hindu University (BHU) offers various courses at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. At the PG level the University offers a MA programme. Admission to MA is offered on the basis of merit and students seeking admission need to appear in a Postgraduate Entrance Test (PET) conducted by the University.

Applicants can apply online and the application fee required for this programmes is Rs 600 (General/ OBC Category) or Rs 300 (SC/ST Category). Candidates selected based on merit have to undergo a counseling procedure with the relevant University department.

BHU MA Admission 2021

MA programme offered by BHU is available in multiple specialisations. Selection takes place on the basis of performance in the PET. The concerned head of the department/coordinator will issue electronic call letters to the candidates for counseling. Students need to attend the counseling procedure for admission after the announcement of the merit lists. The minimum eligibility criteria for all the MA programmes offered by the University are tabulated below:

Arabic BA (Hons)/ BA under at least 10+2+3 pattern with PG Diploma/Advanced Diploma in the concerned subject (Arabic/ Chinese/ French/ German/ Marathi/ Persian/ Russian/ Nepali/Telugu) securing a minimum of 50% aggregate both at BA and Diploma levels

Linguistics Graduation under at least 10+2+3 pattern with 50% aggregate including all subjects studied at graduation-level except those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final (degree) mark sheet. A candidate who has done a masters degree (following graduation under at least 10+2+3 pattern) in any Language-Literature, Philosophy, Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Mathematics, Computer Science securing a minimum of 50% aggregate each at graduation and postgraduate levels
History of Art BA (Hons)/ BA under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% aggregate, including all subjects studied at BA level except those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final (degree) mark sheet. History of Art/ Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology/ Ancient History, Culture & Archaeology/ Archaeology and Ancient History/ Ancient Indian History & Culture/ Ancient Indian History & Archaeology/ Drawing and Painting/ Painting should be Hons subject at the BA (Hons) level or a subject studied in all the three years at graduation level or BVA/ BFA (Visual Arts)
Indian Philosophy and Religion BA (Hons)/ BA under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% aggregate including all subjects studied at BA level except those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final (degree) mark sheet. Philosophy/ Religious Studies must be Hons subject or a subject studied in all three years at BA level or BA (Hons)/ BA in Religious Studies under at least 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent examination securing a minimum of 50% aggregate OR Graduate degree in any stream of any national/ foreign University recognized by BHU with PG diploma in Indian Philosophy & Religion of this University securing a minimum of 50% aggregate each at the graduate and diploma level
Anthropology Bachelor's degree in any stream under at least 10+2+3 pattern or it's equivalent or a higher degree in any stream from any UGC/ AICTE recognized institution in India or abroad with a minimum of 50% aggregate
Pali BA (Hons) in Pali/ Buddhist Studies under 10+2+3 pattern, or Pali/ Buddhist Studies, studied in all the three years at BA level  Candidates must have secured at least 50% aggregate both at BA (Hons)/ BA level
Mass Communication Bachelor's degree in any stream under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% aggregate including all subjects studied at graduation level except those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final (degree) mark sheet
Museology MA in History of Art/Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology/History/ Sanskrit securing a minimum of 50% aggregate in the aggregate after Graduation under at least 10+2+3 pattern
Prayojanmulak Hindi(Patrakarita) Bachelors Degree under 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% aggregate, including all subjects studied at Graduate level except those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final (degree) mark sheet. Candidate should be well versed in Hindi language, as the medium of Instruction for this Course is Hindi only)
Manuscriptology & Paleography BA (Hons)/ BA under 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% aggregate at BA level The Honours subject at BA (Hons) level should be Indian Languages/ Oriental languages/ History/ AIHC/ Philosophy/ History of Art/ Linguistics, or MA with 50% aggregate
History BA (Hons)/ BA with Ancient History as a subject is not eligible, for admission in MA in History but can apply for MA in AIHC & Arch, in the Faculty of Arts
Political Science BA (Hons)/ BA/ BSc (Hons)/ BSc under at least 10+2+3 pattern, securing a minimum of 50% aggregate including all subjects studied at BA/ BSc level except for those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final (degree) mark sheet. The subject in which admission is sought must have been studied in all three years at the undergraduate level
Sociology
Economics,
Psychology BSc (Hons)/ BSc with Psychology as Hons subject or a subject studied in all the three years at BSc level is eligible for admission in MSc in Psychology
Education Graduation degree under 10+2+3 pattern with Education (Hons) having Education as a subject in any of the three years/ or any graduate under 10+2+3 pattern along with BEd/ BEd (Special Education) securing a minimum of 50% aggregate at graduation level
Energy Economics BA (Hons) Economics/ BCom/ BSc/ BA programme with Economics or BTech.or MBA with a minimum of 50% aggregate from a recognised university/ institute
Personnel Management and Industrial Relations Bachelors degree under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% aggregate

BHU Application Process 2021

BHU application process 2021 is conducted in online mode through the official website of the University. For successful application submission, candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs 600 (General/ OBC Category)/ Rs 300 (SC/ST Category). Registered applicants selected based on merit have to undergo a counseling procedure with the relevant University department. The application process consists of the following steps:
