LPU Offers Admissions to Students with JEE Main Score

April 15, 2020: Jalandhar-based LPU - Lovely Professional University is inviting applications for BTech programmes. Considering the ongoing pandemic situation and inability of students to visit campus for LPUNEST exam, the University has decided to offer direct admission to students on the basis of their JEE Main score of January test. The University has also announced scholarships of up to 50 per cent to students on the basis of their JEE Main score. For the admission purpose, LPU is conducting online counselling sessions between April 22-24.

Ths students have the fair opportunity to improve the scholarship amount on the basis of their board results. In case, results are not declared on time then the University will consider LPUNEST scores.

University Invites GOC-in-Chief of Western Command to Deliver Guest Lecture

March 14, 2020: School of Humanities, LPU invited Former General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Command, Lieutenant General (Rtd.) Kamal Jit Singh to deliver lecture on ‘Border Management and National Security Challenges’.  During the lecture, he shared some key stats with students about Indian borders such as India shares approximately 15,000 kms of land borders and 7,500 kms of maritime boundaries with 11 countries. There are only five such Indian states that do not have any borders. He emphasised on importance of border management for national security since a lot of illegal issues have been tracked in recent times related to illegal drugs trafficking, cross-border terrorism and anti-India political stands of immediate neighbors.

Indian Red Cross awarded to LPU Chancellor

March 7, 2020: Hon’ble Governor, Punjab and President of Punjab State Red Cross Branch, VP Singh Badnore awarded LPU - Lovely Professional University Chancellor Ashok Mittal with Indian Red Cross award. The award was given away at 50th Annual General Meeting of Punjab State Red Cross Branch. The award was presented to Mr Mittal for rendering his services to Red Cross on a consistent basis. The 'Red Cross' is an international/national movement for providing relief from misery and upholding important values of humanity. It represents the values of compassion, impartiality, neutrality, equality, voluntary service, solidarity and universality. The organization aims to facilitate mutual understanding, fellowship, collaboration and lasting peace across various nations and cultures.

LPU Hosts Largest Campus Quiz TATA Crucible 2020

March 3, 2020: TATA Group organised 16th edition of largest campus quiz TATA Crucible 2020 at LPU Campus. The SCD Government College of Ludhiana won the final, while Aurobindo College stood at second position. TATA has been organising this quiz for the past five consecutive years and has an international edition, too. Six teams, including two of LPU, made to the final round out of total participation of over 600 teams. The Tata Group works with young people via numerous projects, to  create international awareness on social entrepreneurship through internship programmes.

LPU Wins Overall Championship at ‘Khelo India University Games, 2020’

March 2, 2020: With an overall achievement of 23 medals, including nine Gold, six Silver and eight Bronze, LPU - Lovely Professional University has been declared as overall champions of sports competition ‘Khelo India University Games-2020’. Over 3,500 students from government and private universities across the country participated in the event. PM Modi inaugurated the event in February at Bhubaneswar, Odisha and concluded on March 1. There were a wide range of sports that were played during the event such as Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Kabbadi, Rugby, Swimming, Table Tennis, Weight-Lifting and Wrestling. The students of LPU participated in 11 games.

LPU Inks MoU with Uzbekistan’s University

February 27, 2020: The Silk Road International Tourism University and Lovely Professional University (LPU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during an international scientific, research and practical conference that was held in Samarkand. The collaboration will benefit students of both universities. It covers joint research ventures, university students and exchange programmes; organisation/participation in joint seminars, workshops and much more. Students will be able to experience global exposure and will also get to learn the culture and practices of the host country. The conference was witnessed by other international universities also such as Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Ukraine.

LPU Students Attend 15th Fashion Tour

February 22, 2020: LPU - Lovely Professional University students attended the 15th edition of Pride Fashion Tour organised at Aerocity in collaboration with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). This was an exposure opportunity for students where they saw a new face of the collections in the fashion industry. On this occasion, LPU students also interacted with FDCI President Sunil Sethi and famous designers. The Fashion Tour included a wonderful collection of 80 fashion designers such as Abu Jani, Rahul Mishra and Sandeep Khosla, renowned for their creations. Sara Ali Khan, popular Bollywood actress, was showstopper for the function. LPU students learnt a lot about the latest fashion trends, techniques, innovations and market.

Law Students Bag First Prize at National Moot Court Competition

February 17, 2020: Fourth year students of BA LLB, Lovely Professional University Gursimran Singh, Hiteshi Agrawal and Mannat Sarao represented LPU at Association of Indian Universities’ (AIU) three-day National Moot Court Competition held at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law. Students bagged first position and were awarded with trophy and cash prize of Rs 30,000. Team also won the Best Memorial Award. Former Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge Rajiv Bhalla praised the triumphant LPU students. Forty-two teams from across the India participated in the competition.

University Inaugurates Centre for Space Research

February 10, 2020: LPU invited the man behind SuperSonic BrahMos Missile Dr Sudhir Mishra for an interactive session with LPU Engineering students. Dr Mishra also honoured over 554 LPU scientists and researchers for their illustrious achievements. He inaugurated “Center for Space Research with space mission control facility”, which aims at keeping students trainees engaged in satellite system design and system engineering; satellite payload and sub-system design and development; satellite assembly, integration, and testing; satellite launch and operation; payload data processing and application; HAM activities; Participating in Space Competitions; Ground station networking; and, Scientific extension activities

University Organises Indian Startup Summit 2020

February 8, 2020: LPU - Lovely Professional University organised Indian Startup Summit 2020 and invited entrepreneurs, chairmen, founders, co-founders from established start-ups across the country. The eminent leaders from companies such as TiE Global, PumpKart.com, Startup Buddy, Brand Samosa, Innowork, MentorKart, Boudhik Ventures and WittyFeed were invited to share their entrepreneurial journey and challenges faced. The summit was supported by  European Union Funding Programme (through ‘Enprendia’), Startup Punjab, Student Entrepreneurship Cell at LPU and Trozorro Startup Solutions (Pvt.) Limited. LPU had also organised, “Idea pitching competition” where many students presented their business idea before the all the prominent speakers. The winner received a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The University had already arranged resource fund of Rs 5 Lakh for innovative participants.

LPU Students Win State Handball Championship

February 6, 2020: Senior State Handball (M/W) Championship was recently held at Sri Anandpur Sahib Khalsa Academy, Lakhan Kala, Kapurthala. Teams across Punjab participated in the championship. LPU students were representing Kapurthala district. The team of dedicated students lifted the Winner's Cup and Gold Medals. The Punjab Handball Association held competitions between all Punjab State District Teams. The Ropar team lost by six goals in the semi-final and, in the final match, the Sangrur team was crushed by five goals. It is worth mentioning that before this, LPU students showed the best of their athletic skills not only at state and national levels but also worldwide.

Shortfilm “The Traveller” Receives Award at MSIFF

January 31, 2020: "The Traveller" is a story of a young couple that ends up into separation at an early age of their marriage because of not proper considerations about each other before marriage. The film conveys a message to lessen the issue of increasing divorces worldwide. Written and directed by BSc Films & TV Production programme student at LPU - Lovely Professional University Loveena Bagga, the movie was awarded at the 8th Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival (MSIFF). It has also been ranked among top six fiction film across the world by Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF). Over 200 short films across 25 countries such as USA, UK, Russia, Germany, France and Japan were nominated for this award. Dr DC Singh, Chief Advisor at MSIFF and Rambhul Singh, Festival Director, awarded the Certificate of Excellence to the director and producer of this short film. Under the guidance of key industry leaders, MSIFF is a revolutionary film project in supporting the short film industry. The editions testify that filmmakers, industry professionals from India and elsewhere participate and are very enthusiastic.

LPU Students Participate in 71st Republic Day Parade

January 27, 2020: Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports auditioned lakhs of students across all five zones of the country. Three National Cadet Corps (NCC) students of LPU - Lovely Professional University Abhishek Sharma, Aditi Sharma and Vaishali Yadav were selected to participate in 71st Republic Day Parade held in capital region. Selections were made taking into consideration the overall performance, cultural activities, desire to engage in debates on various social problems and the ability to represent their state's community. This year, Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro was invited as the chief guest of the event. Alongside there were President of India Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the best NCC Cadets of the country. On the other hand, Aditi Sharma was the participant in the PM rally.

Further to the event, President Kovind awarded participants with prestigious testimonials for their active participation and contribution.  LPU students paraded along with Indian Military, Navy, Air Force, and other Para-Military forces at the Rajpath.

Bollywood Film Maker Mahesh Bhatt Visits LPU

January 22, 2020: Prominent film maker Mahesh Bhatt visited LPU - Lovely Professional University and performed the famous play “The Last Salute”. The play is based on Iraqi journalist Muntadhar Al-Zaid's book The Last Salute to President Bush, which has frequently been performed during the mammoth theater stages in cities such as Mumbai and New Delhi. The play showcased the consequences of violence by Americans on Iraq. The presentation was opened by Mahesh Bhatt, a character who had written a letter in 2002 declining an invitation from America for a prayer breakfast. The play was performed by Sangeeta Gaur and about 150 artists from the Asmita Theatre in New Delhi. The gulf crisis and then US interference, which have been continuously questioned by civilized world, was one of the decisive political actions. Thousands of young people were drawn to the story, including LPU students and staff. The performance conducted by the thematic performers influenced them all by a great deal of interest in global issues as shown in the script.

LPU Students Win Medals at National Youth Games ‘Khelo India’

January 15, 2020: Students of LPU across domains participated in third edition of National Youth Games, 2020-Khelo India held in Assam. Shiva Kumar won Gold Medal in the 60-kg category of Judo; silver medals were won by Abhinav Panwar in 200m Race, Kandon Boi in 66kg Judo, Ritik in +100kg Judo and Rekha in 48kg Judo; and Bronze medal was won by Antim Yadav for 48kg Judo (M) competition. Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) is a national multidisciplinary grassroots games platform held annually during first months of the year. Other than LPU, the event was witnessed by participants, athletes, support staff and technical officials across country. The platform is established under a strong foundation to create India as a great sports nation for all sports played across the globe.

LPU Inks MoU with Americal Wesern University of Health Sciences

January 14, 2020: LPU - Lovely Professional University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with California-based Western University of Health Sciences with an aim to achieve collaborative growth in the field of education and science. The purpose of this collaboration is to boost the intellectual and cultural growth of both the institutions keeping Sustainable Education and Scholarly activities as two important focus areas. This will include students and faculty exchange programme to let them experience global exposure and learn about the culture of host country. President of Western University of Health Sciences Dr Wilson believes in teamwork amongst educational institutions. For him healthcare and education is a social endeavor. This will impart phenomenal comprehensive growth of health sciences across globe.

LPU Scientist Visits Poland for Transdisciplinary Research

January 11, 2020: School of Pharmaceutical Sciences Professor Dr Devesh Tewari was invited to Institute of Gnetics and Animal Breeding in Poland for transdisciplinary research. The visit was aimed at learning new experimental and instrumental methodologies that can benefit global society in the fields of health and pharmaceutical sciences. Dr Tewari also has experience of working with rare plant species such as Ashwagandha, Red-Sage Root, Ginseng, Punarnova and more to overcome ‘Bad-Effects of Alcohol Usage’, particularly on liver. Considering this successful visit and discovering new and interesting area of research in Polish Lab, Dr Devesh is planning to work jointly in near future also. His work has also been recognised by Ayush Ministry, Uttarakhand State-Government of India. He is primarily focusing on research about various medicinal plants and Himalayan natural products.

LPU Achieves New Placement Record, Celebrates Placement Day-2020

January 9, 2020: LPU - Lovely Professional University celebrated the placements of thousands of students in first six months of academic year 2019-20. Over 2,000 students were placed in Fortune 500 companies – an engineering student bagged highest annual package of Rs 42 lakh from Microsoft; and management students bagged highest annual package of Rs 19.75 lakh. Over 500 multinational and national companies such as Amazon, Bosch, Capgemini, Cognizant, Virtusa, Wipro and TCS actively participated in the placement season. Over 110 new companies that recruit from Tier-I B-Schools, also recruited LPU students this year. To congratulate placed students and their parents and inspire them for future, University organised a small social gathering in the campus.

University Organises Principal’s Conclave Under ‘Disha’

January 8, 2020: LPU organised a Principal’s Conclave at campus for principal and teachers. The event was organised as part of its CSR activity called, Disha. The objective of the event was to guide faculty members and principal on new education aspects. This event was witnessed by prominent scholars and educational stakeholders. Sessions on “Leadership Skills” and “Understanding Leaners” were organised to explain growth and development through experiential learning. University students bags medals at international and national-level Judo Championships

January 5, 2020: Several students from LPU - Lovely Professional University exhibited the finest Judo skills at international and national-level. Krishna Foajdar bagged gold at 2019 Commonwealth Judo Championships held at the University of Wolverhampton (England) and Shiv Kumar won gold at championship held at the University of Birmingham, in the UK. Antim Yadav bagged Gold Medal at the Junior National Judo Championships held in Lucknow; Anmol won silver medal in All India Inter-University Judo Championship held at Kanpur; Unnati Sharma won silver at the Senior National Ranking Judo Championships 2019 held in New Delhi; and, Jagtar Singh also won silver medal at National Sub-Junior and Cadets' Judo Championship held in Manipur. Another woman competitor Rekha has won Bronze medal at the Junior National Judo Championships held in Uttar Pradesh.

LPU and England’s University of Derby ink MoU for collaboration of Students’ Progression activities

January 3, 2020: LPU - Lovely Professional University and University of Derby (UoD) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on January 3. The purpose of this association is to collaborate potential students’ progression activities and academic and  research-related activities. This will include staff-student exchange programme, exhibitions, collaborative projects, master classes, workshops and research endeavours. This will help students to understand cross culture and experience global exposure. UoD is one of the top 10 universities in England. It is well known for its expert teaching, industry-relevant innovation for undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes.

LPU Organises Annual Conference Share the Vision 2019

December 24, 2019: LPU - Lovely Professional University organised 18th Annual Conference-Share the Vision 2019 in the university campus. Over 4,000 faculty and staff were honoured with association awards for their loyal and faithful services since long. LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal addressed audience with a wonderful team spirit and camaraderie to lead universities in global heights of progress in their related fields. He also inspired students to make university the youngest among top 200 global universities with the formula ‘Hack the Chang’.

LPU Student Bags Silver Medal in 13th South Asian Games 2019

December 20, 2019: A Bachelor of Arts, LPU - Lovely Professional University second-year student Gurpreet SIngh won silver medal in center fire pistol individual and center fire pistol team events in 13th South Asian Games 2019 held in Kathmandu, Nepal. This year India bagged over 300 medals for 13th consecutively time in South-Asian Games. Prior to that, Gurpreet has shown his talents in numerous prestigious competitions at both the international and national levels. He is currently pursuing an LPU distance training program with a 100 per cent scholarship on the basis of the evaluation of his extraordinary abilities in sport in compliance with university policy.

LPU Becomes India’s First University to Open Espace France Centre

December 19, 2019: LPU - Lovely Professional University has become India’s first university to open ‘Espace France Centre’ at its campus for French studies and activities. Newly inaugurated centre will be the key centre in India for French activities – cultural, language, education, or diplomacy.

For inauguration of the centre at LPU, five-member French delegation was led by Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs and Country, Director of Institut Français Bertrand de Hartingh. The delegation included Director, Institut Français Chandigarh, Sylvain Chouin; Associate of the Attaché of the book and the debate of ideas of Institut Français Victoria Dobritz; Manager of Campus France Chandigarh Nidhi Chopra; and, Science and Academic Attachée / North and Eastern Region Emilia Cartier.

LPU Student honoured at Asia's largest Conference of Women Technologists held at Bengaluru

December 18, 2019: After bagging the highest job offer in the region for engineering from one of the tech giants, LPU - Lovely Professional University’s Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech) final year student Tanya Arora has been honoured at Google sponsored Asia's largest gathering of women technologists – the Grace Hopper Celebration India (GHCI). The event, the 10th season celebrations, was held at Bengaluru. Some of the prominent personalities who were present at the event included Fable CEO Padmasree Warrior; NASSCOM President Debjani Ghosh; and  Deloitte Managing Director Beena Ammanath.

LPU Organises four-day Chrysanthemum Exhibition

December 16, 2019: The School of Agriculture at LPU - Lovely Professional University organised four-day Annual Chrysanthemum Flowers Fair. Over 60 varieties of Chrysanthemum flowers such as Crasa Grande, Snow ball, Reagan White, Royal Purple in all shades and colours were exhibited at the fair. These rare variety of Chrysanthemum Flowers have been grown in-house by LPU students as a part of their academic research and project. Many students and other participants were awarded by Pro-Chancellor Rashmi Mittal for their contribution and efforts in nurturing the Chrysanthemum plants with hard work all through the year.

LPU organises PCP for Distance Education Students

December 12, 2019: LPU - Lovely Professional University organised a two-week long Personal Contact Programme (PCR) for Distance Education Students. The programme witnessed active participation from thousands of students from different locations of Punjab who interacted with expert faculty concerning their curriculum.

University organised sessions for different disciplines such as Management, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Commerce, Mathematics, English and several more based on the online registration by students. Over 150 faculty members conducted classes for over 310 courses. University arranged for the accommodation of outstation students. These sessions intended to resolve student doubts and curiosities.

LPU inks MoU with Shanghai Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry to facilitate students’ exposure to international markets

December 5, 2019: LPU - Lovely Professional University and Shanghai Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry (SHAFC) of China on December 5 inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at LPU campus. This collaboration aims at development of joint research projects and to avail funding; exchange of academic information, students, faculty; and, organisation/participation in joint seminars, conferences and workshops. The memorandum was signed between President Hua on behalf of SHAFC and LPU Registrar Dr Monica Gulati and Associate Director Division of International Affairs Aman Mittal.

This partnership will also facilitate exchange programme for four weeks letting students and faculties to learn about business environment and culture of host country.

LPU gets patent for ‘Smart’ Drug Delivery System

December 3, 2019: The Government of India has issued a significant patent for Smart Drug Delivery System to the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at LPU - Lovely Professional University. The patent for medications used for colon cancer was initially filed in 2010 and now extended to include other drugs approved for Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Helminthiasis, too. The technology has been explored and improved by continuous efforts of seven MPharma students and one Ph.D student of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Following this grant, renowned companies approach LPU to market this invention for the most curing use. This patent was the first in the field of LPU medicine.  

LPU Scientist to be Awarded with Dr B C Deb Memorial at ISC

November 29, 2019: LPU - Lovely Professional University Scientist Dr Sachin Kumar Singh has won Dr B C Deb Memorial award. The award will be presented at 107th Indian Science Congress (ISC) to be held at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru. He is the first person from Punjab to receive this award for his continuous practice towards development of diabetic medicine using herbal drugs to provide society with healthier, secure and cost effective medicines.

Prior to this, he has also won DST/SERB award along with a grant of Rs 24.3 lakh for effective treatment of diabetes ‘mellitus’. He has published over 100 research papers and has filed six patents . Also, he has mentored over 30 M.Pharma projects and 6 Ph.D thesis.

He says that the inspiration behind his achievement is former President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam and his parents. Adding to this, he mentions that this award is the result of his entire team efforts, especially the efforts of his students in formulating poorly soluble drugs since the last seven years. It was towards reducing their dose and to improve upon their bioavailability.

LPU Pharma Researcher Shares Patented Herbal Medicine at a Conference in the US

November 20, 2019: Researcher at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of LPU - Lovely Professional University, Rubiya Khursheed has shared her patented herbal medicine with 15 Nobel Laurette's, over 6,000 scientists and 600  pharmaceutical giants across the United States. She was attending the world's most prestigious pharmaceutical meeting, PharmSci 360, which was held in the United States at Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. Her research title was: Exploration of the role of Self-Nano emulsifying Drug Delivery System in the development of synbiotics. The medicine aims at curing the deadly disease called Diabetes. Made up of natural products such as turmeric and pro-biotics, this medicine is totally non-synthetic and without any of the side-effects.

She also wishes to pursue another important cancer-curing research. She wants all medical formulations to be developed to be cost-effective so that everyone can use them easily.

LPU Hosts Annual International Fest One-World 2019

November 16, 2019: Lovely Professional University on November 16, 2019 organised its annual international fest One-World 2019. The fest was attended by over 3,000 students from across 50 countries studying at LPU. The expo had various stalls put up by these students. The theme for this year’s event was “Innovations & Inventions-the Ideas that made the Difference”. All the students represented culture, innovation and inventions of their country. Audience and students of other countries came to know about interesting facts of different countries across the world such as China that represented the great inventions of papermaking, compass, and  printing from woodblocks, Bhutan that represented their inventions in field of mechanical and electrical such as electric bicycle, rain sorting machine and thread spinning machine and so on.

United Nations World Finale for Modelling at LPU Campus

November 10, 2019: Student Organization Cell at Lovely Professional University (LPU) coordinated a mega modelling show at university's Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium. The show titled ' United Nations World Finale 2019’ was organized by UN Pageant. The event saw active participation of models from 30 different countries. In total eight rounds, including cooking, donation of charity, individual interviews, sports and several more were organized to get into the event's finale.

The Pageant of the United Nations brings together members from a wide range of societies and cultures globally on a common platform. Delegates here strive to share common ideals and promote communication and global friendship.

LPU Inaugurates International Symposium on Product Design

November 9, 2019: Department of Product & Interior Design of Lovely Professional University School of Design inaugurated a two-day International Symposium on product design. A team consisting of design experts from both academics and industry from around the world, including the USA, Singapore, etc., were invited to guide design enthusiasts from different fields of study. Thousands of students from aeronautics, pharmacy, bio-science, physical and physiotherapy, fashion and fine arts and others, including architecture, attended the symposium to learn and understand innovative and result-oriented practices in the design field.

While addressing the audience, Dean School of Design, Atul Kumar Singla said, ” The symposium is a step towards combining industry and academia to make a small concept a product or service worth millions of dollars. ‘Design’ is in fact the strongest key to achieving a strong economy in the long run. Therefore, it is crucial that the capacity of the emergence of designers is recognized, explored and activated.”

Several other keynote speakers from institutions such as Singapore University of Design and Technology and IIT Delhi also shared their ideas to motivate the students.

LPU Hosts Three-Day Long Management Conclave

November 9, 2019: Mittal School of Business at LPU hosted a three-day long management conclave in collaboration with Australian Curtin University. The theme of the event was “Need of Business agility in Volatile times”. LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal inaugurated the event along with the delegation from Australian Curtin University.  

While making premier-keynote address, Director of MBA Programs at Curtin University (Australia), Dr. Stephen McKenna shared key insights on business agility.  Defining the word 'agility,' he added 'action' to its basic dictionary sense-' quick and direct thinking'. He emphasised that agility in business refers to distinct qualities that enable organizations to respond/act quickly to changes in the internal and external environment without losing momentum or vision. The three characteristics of this process are 'adaptability, mobility, and balance'. Dr Mckenna also stressed that "It is only the consumer who decides what a business is, who values it, and pays for it in accordance. So, we all need to be agile."

With International Conference, Workshop on Innovative Thinking, Executive Education Session on $5 trillion Economy - The Road Map, Student Case Study Competition, Doctoral Consortium, Research Methods Workshop, Business Case Study Review Workshop, and Panel Discussion, the three-day conference can be called ‘eight-in-one’ mega event. The inaugural day concluded with 3 technical sessions — 2 Capacity Building Workshops and Poster presentations. Different technical sessions were on the following topics: ‘Agile marketing for competitive advantage’, ‘creating agile workforce’, and ‘building economies for corporate proficiency’.

Union HRD Minister Inaugurates Three Events at LPU

November 6, 2019: Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal visited Lovely Professional University (LPU) on November 6. During his visit, he inaugurated the university’s top three events in diverse fields. This includes Students' Grant that assures distribution of Rs 4.1 crore to 295 meritorious students across the country; initiation of a decade of annual One World Festival at the university; and All India Inter-University Aquatics Championship (Women) 2019-20 at Olympic-size, all-weather swimming pool of university. 

LPU Hosts 2nd Edition of RAFAS; International Science Conference

November 6, 2019: LPU - Lovely Professional University school of chemical engineering and physical science hosted the second edition of RAFAS (Recent Advances in Fundamental and Applied Sciences) on November 5 and November 6, a two-day international science conference. Aishath Mohamed Didi, Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to India, inaugurated the mega-science conclave. Over 100 top researchers, scientists and experts from academia and industry around the world participated in the conference. The conference aimed at exploring the latest research and new technologies to tackle scientific issues at local and international level.

Dr Dai-Viet N Vo of Vietnam's Nguyen Tat Thanh University proposed "Syngas"-CO and H2 Mixture in the discussion about the need for alternative, renewable and sustainable energy. It is considered to be economically viable and environmentally friendly energy suppliers to substitute oil-based resources

LPU Organises All India Inter-University Aquatics Championship (Men) 2019-20

November 4, 2019: All India Inter-University Aquatic Championship (Men) was conducted by the Department of Sports at Lovely Professional University at its Shanti Devi Mittal Indoor Sports Complex. Here, at the Olympic-size swimming pool, over 600 swimmers across 140 universities from all Indian zones were competing. Some of the events included races of 50, 100, 200, 400, 4X100 meters distance, in freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and individual medley. Water polo games were also a part of this championship. Olympian & Arjuna Awardee Shakti Singh and Arjuna Awardee Dalal Singh Chauhan were honoured on the opening day of the championship.

Students from some of the prominent universities/institutes participated at the event. These included Mumbai University, Delhi University, Gujarat Technical University, Kerala University, Pune University Matama Gandhi University Kottayam, Shivaji University Kolhapur, Jain University Bangalore, Panjab University Chandigarh, MD University Rohtak, University of Calcutta, Bikaner University of Maharaja Ganga Singh and Banaras Hindu University.
