LPU Fashion Students Showcased their Designs at Regions Biggest Fashion Platform, Chandigarh Times Fashion Week
September 16, 2024: Lovely Professional University's School of Fashion Design, Jalandhar made waves in the Indian fashion industry. Students recently took the stage at the prestigious Eclat Eleve 2024, Chandigarh Times edition fashion week, sharing the runway with top designers from across the country. LPU’s 32 designers rocked the stage at the iconic event with 35 spellbinding collections. From avant-garde designs to timeless classics, the students' work impressed audiences with its unique vision and impeccable craftsmanship. Drawing inspiration from traditional and contemporary influences, they have created a collection that is visually captivating and tells a story of their journey and vision.
LPU students' collections explored a wide range of themes, from the influence of Indian textiles to Indian prints and motifs. One standout garment featured the use of circuits in a panel of an Indian skirt. Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU’s praised the students for their remarkable journey and emphasised the importance of such platforms in providing our students with exposure to the fashion industry. This event was a celebration of life, expressed through a stunning array of colours and designs that were both bold and sophisticated. He said each garment in the collection was a testament to the students’ meticulous attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.

04-Sep, 2024: 3 students of the Lovely Professional University (LPU) had bring pride and glory to the university by winning 1 gold and 2 silver medals at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Sumit Antil, an MBA student, engraved his name in sports history by securing the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw F64 category, while Yogesh Kathuniya (MA) shine in the men's discus throw F56 and Nishad Kumar (MA) in high jump T47, both won the silver medal.
Sumit’s remarkable feat of setting a new Paralympic record of 70.59m not only secured his victory but also established him as the first Indian man to defend his title with a gold medal, following his triumph at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and founder Chancellor of LPU, said after the great success of the Olympics, medals in the Paralympics are a proud moment for the country and university. Dr. Mittal praised the Paralympic players’ commitment to overcoming challenges and achieving greatness on the global stage, serving as inspirations to aspiring athletes nationwide.
Yogesh Kathuniya (MA) in the men's discus throw F56 event gave his best with the 42.22 m throw and Nishad Kumar (MA) with 2.04 m in high jump T47. Both players are the silver medallists of the Paralympics 2020 and 2024. LPU 24 students also participated in the Paris Olympics and won medals in the hockey and javelin throw.
LPU’s 93% Education Students Qualified National Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)
03-Sep, 2024: Jalandhar; A total of 93% of students in the School of Education at Lovely Professional University have successfully cracked the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). The qualifying number of the LPU students of graduating batch 2024 who appeared in the test is 52 students out of 56. The national qualifying percentage for July 2024 is 19.68%.
Almost all of the LPU students cracked the test in their very first attempt. With a special focus on CTET-mapped courses, thorough guidance is provided to the students at the university. Each student is then evaluated through 3000+ multiple choice questions (MCQs). In addition, courses such as analytical skills; Social Science/ Mathematics and Science; and, comprehension in languages (Hindi and English) are also dealt with. Special classes are given to students before commencement of the CTET exam.
Congratulating the successful students with illustrious results, Pro Chancellor of LPU Col. Rashmi Mittal said that education programmes at LPU are to create teachers as per 21st century needed teaching and digital creativity skills. After receiving the certificates, LPU students can further apply for all Central/State Government teaching jobs. Worth pointing out factor is that candidates cannot apply for private government teaching jobs without a TET certificate. An impressive placement was achieved by Jishnu M. Nair at a renowned school in Dubai.
The education programmes at LPU include Integrated BA-B.Ed., Integrated B.Sc.-B.Ed., Integrated B.Ed.M.Ed., and B.Ed., all are executed in a systematic manner to prepare secondary school teachers through comprehensive curricular coverage with intensive training and field engagement. Jalandhar, Lovely Professional University (LPU) announces its contribution to India's esteemed Paralympic team. A total of 14 brilliant students of LPU have secured their spots, forming a substantial 16% of the Indian contingent heading to Paris for this prestigious event. The participants will play javelin throw, canoeing and kayaking, high jump, discus throw, and shot put. LPU student Sumit Antil (MBA), a two-time world champion and Tokyo 2020 gold medalist in javelin throw will be India’s flag bearer for the opening ceremony of the Paralympics.
Other accomplished athletes such as Sandeep (MBA), Rinku (MA), Sunder Singh (BA), Sandip Sanjay (MCA) in javelin throw, Rohit (MBA), Arvind (MA) in shot put, Ram Pal (MBA), Shailesh Kumar, Nishad Kumar (MA) in high jump, Yogesh Kathuniya (MA) in discus throw, Prachi Yadav, Yash (BA), and Pooja Ojha (MA) in canoeing and kayaking. The Paris Paralympics, set to be the 17th Olympiad, are scheduled from August 28 to September 8, 2024. A total of 549 events spanning 22 sports and around 4,400 athletes from across the globe will take place.
LPU awarded with the National Employability Award 2025 for the Fifth Consecutive Year
August 20, 2024: Lovely Professional University has received the National Employability Award 2025 for the fifth consecutive year. This renowned prize, granted by SHL, recognises LPU's remarkable commitment in preparing final-year students for major career prospects with reputable global corporations throughout the world. The AMCAT test evaluates candidates on a variety of skills required for employment in various fields of engineering and management, including communication, verbal ability, logical reasoning, quantitative skills, and domain-specific knowledge, assisting recruiters in identifying the most qualified candidates with relevant competencies. AMCAT scores are accepted by several top multinational corporations, including Bosch, Tech Mahindra, Cognisant, Accenture, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Bank of America, Vodafone, and Aditya Birla Group, to mention a few.
Col. Rashmi Mittal, Pro Chancellor of LPU, expressed pride in the accomplishments of the students and attributed the University's success to the dedication of its members of faculty and specialized trainers. As a testament to this the award, students of LPU have been writing success stories of record-breaking placements year-on-year. More than 1500 students of LPU have secured packages ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 64 lakh. The average package of the top 10 percent of our placed students is Rs 12.3 lakh which is higher than the average of many top IITs. Yasir M, 2018 batch LPU student secured a package of Rs 3 crore in a top IT company in Germany. However, TC Central gave a package worth Rs. 1 crore to Pawan Kunchala of the 2022 batch.
Continuing the great story, Yashasvi Yaduvanshi and Harsh Vardhan of B.Tech Computer Science, 2023-24 batch, received a nice payout of Rs 52.08 lakh from Microsoft. Following the league, two students from the yet-to-graduate batch 2024-25, Joshita Pachar and Nazia Parveen, received a gift worth Rs 51 lakh from Microsoft. In addition, a Mechanical engineering student from the 2022-23 class received the highest CTC of Rs 54.9 lakh. MBA and architecture students, on the other hand, were offered incentives worth Rs. 29.3 lakh and Rs. 41 lakh, respectively.
LPU Students Completed the Summer School Program at the Top Ural Federal University, Russia, on Full Scholarship
August 08, 2024: Jalandhar: Five students from Lovely Professional University (LPU) concluded a two-week Summer School Programme (SSP) at the top-ranking URAL Federal University in Yekaterinburg, Russia. This opportunity was funded by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. The programme brought together students and delegates from over 40 nations.
During the programme, the LPU students immersed themselves in specialised educational domains, working on diverse projects. Aman Goyal and Digvijay Singh, students of B.Arch, collaborated on the "Projecting and Modelling of Compressing and Briquetting of Municipal Waste Recycling Systems'; Tamanna, a student of B. Design Product and Industrial Design, worked on the project ' 'Recommendation Modeling for complementary furniture products based on customer preferences'; Kristina Barooah, a student of B. Tech CSE, worked on the project 'Forecast demand modeling (time series analysis)'; and Naman Swastik Sahu's worked on the project of 'Handwritten Digit Recognition Machine Learning Algorithms: A Detailed Exploration and Analysis for Improved Digital Transcription Systems'. All five students excelled in their respective projects, earning top places.
The students attended lectures by eminent educators and industry leaders, gaining insights into cutting-edge technologies and corporations in Russia. They also completed a comprehensive Russian language course and received certifications. Dr. Ashok Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, congratulated all the students on their brilliant performances in Russia. 15 members of the LPU visited the top university in Russia
June 16, 2024: A delegation of 15 members from Lovely Professional University (LPU) recently visited the world's top-ranked University of Russia, HSE University in St. Petersburg. The delegation of 13 students, led by HOS Prof. Pavitar Prakash Singh and Dr. Jitendra Singh (HOD), had the pleasure of participating in the Student Exchange and Summer School Programme in collaboration with HSE University. The event is a collaboration between HSE and LPU. This event was funded by the host university. During the visit, the LPU delegation attended lectures, projects and live tasks organized by HSE University. Students also had an opportunity to visit the national TV channel known as NTV in St. Petersburg.
As part of their engagement with HSE University, HOS Prof. Pavitar Prakash Singh delivered a lecture on "India and International Policy," while HOD Dr Jitendra Singh provided a complete overview of the "Indian Media Scenario." Vice president of LPU Dr. Aman Mittal conveyed his belief in the significance of global exposure and transformative learning experiences for LPU students. The university also signed an MOU with the university encompassing academic exchange, joint educational and research programs, developing exchange programs for administrative and managerial staff, and other points of collaboration.
Students had the honour of visiting iconic landmarks such as the Winter Palace, Hermitage Museum, St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral, Peter and Paul's Fortress, City Centre, Nevsky Prospect, Kazan Cathedral, Field of Mars, Summer Garden, and Mariinsky Theatre. This experience helps students to understand Russian history, culture, and architecture. In the previous year, LPU welcomed a delegation of 10 students and two faculty members, Dr. Mikhail Tyurikin and Dr. Oksana, from HSE for a 10-day visit.

June 18, 2024: To make the industry members familiarised with the new techniques and methods of working with AI and ChatGPT, CII Jalandhar Zone organised a workshop at Lovely Professional University. This workshop helped the industry members get updated with the latest innovations in the technical world.
Dr Lovi Raj, LPU Pro Vice Chancellor explained everyone the benefits of AI and ChatGPT in increasing the speed of production and therefore enhancing the quality and efficiency in companies. The technology if used properly can enhance the trust and customer satisfaction. Predictive maintenance through AI can prevent machine failures, hence, leading to increased reliability. June 17, 2024: Jalandhar - LPU has achieved a top position under 200 global universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2024. LPU is at par with universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA (101-200), Iowa State University, and ahead of North Carolina State University, US (201-300), University of Northampton, UK, University of Southampton, IIT Gandhinagar (301–400), Texas State University, US (301–400), IIT Guwahati (401–600), and IIM Mumbai (601–800).
LPU placed 19th Globally and 2nd in India for Quality Education for both government and private institutions. May 6, 2024: Fifteen students hailing from Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom recently completed their involvement in the month-long 'Study India Programme (SIP)' at Lovely Professional University (LPU). This exchange initiative effectively facilitated a vibrant cultural interchange between the UK and India, offering the visiting students a distinct chance to acquaint themselves with the unique facets of India and LPU, while nurturing a deep appreciation for Indian culture.
The UK students engaged in diverse interactive sessions and educational activities orchestrated by LPU. They partook in classes covering the Hindi language, Indian culinary arts, traditional dances, handicrafts, political dynamics, sociology, and Yoga. Furthermore, workshops on block & foil printing, fabric analysis, colouration techniques, dyeing processes, and a fashion week were meticulously arranged. Additionally, the students immersed themselves in Indian festivals like Holi, Baisakhi, Eid, and Ram Navami, among others.

LPU Organized Two-day International Conference on Advancements in Aerospace Engineering
May 06, 2024: "The School of Mechanical Engineering at Lovely Professional University (LPU) recently hosted the 'International Conference on Advancements in Aerospace Engineering- ICAAE-2024', which saw two days of insightful discussions and collaborations aimed at pushing aerospace innovation to new heights. The conference welcomed distinguished guests from ISRO (Indian Space & Research Organization), including Former Director Dr S. Rangarajan, Former Group Director Dr R. Pandiyan, Project Director A.M. Nagalakshmi, Programme Director Jasvinder Singh Khoral, and Prof Dr Tejinder Kumar Jindal of PEC, Chandigarh. LPU’s Agriculture student nominated for Government of India’s First-ever National Creators Award
March 18, 2024: Sunidhi Singh, a BSc Hons Agriculture student at Lovely Professional University (LPU), received a nomination for the Government of India's inaugural National Creators Award. Among the multitude of nominees nationwide, Sunidhi was recognized as one of the top ten 'Best Micro Creators' during the national award ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The esteemed event was graced by the presence of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the nation's duty to progress alongside the dawn of a new era, presenting the 'National Creator Awards.' Nearly 200,000 creators from across the country had registered for the awards spanning 20 categories. PM Modi further highlighted the occasion as a tribute to Indian youth leading this new era, applauding their creativity, and acknowledging the significant impact creators have on society.
LPU’s Baseball Players Bringing Immense International Recognition to India
March 12, 2024: LPU's baseball team continues to shine on both national and international stages, garnering accolades and recognition for their exceptional skills. Three standout players, Akshay More, Saurabh Gaikwad, and Akshay Mogal, led the Indian team to victory at Baseball United Dubai, showcasing India's prowess in the sport on an international platform. Selected exclusively from across India for the Dubai Professional League 2023, these LPU students competed alongside players from renowned baseball nations like the USA and Japan at the prestigious Dubai International Stadium. Their success not only brought glory to LPU but also broke the century-old dominance of American teams in baseball.
Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal lauded the students' achievements and urged them to continue bringing pride to the university and the nation. The triumphant students expressed gratitude for the support of their mentors at LPU, acknowledging the opportunity to make history as pioneers of the sport in their region.
Recently, at the All India Inter University Baseball Tournament 2023-24 in Guwahati, LPU's men's baseball team secured the first runners-up position among nearly 50 participating universities nationwide. Recognized for their prowess as hitters and pitchers, LPU's players displayed remarkable performance throughout the tournament. The presence of dignitaries like S. Baljit Singh Sekhon, Joint Secretary and Vigilance Officer of the Association of Indian Universities, added prestige to the event, where LPU once again showcased their dominance in collegiate baseball, building on their previous first runners-up award in the 2022-23 season.

Feb 20, 2024: Lovely Professional University (LPU) has announced that His Excellency, Tony Abbott, former Prime Minister of Australia, will be the Chief Guest at its 11th Convocation on Sunday, February 25, 2024.
Tony Abbott (Anthony John Abbott), Australia's 28th Prime Minister, is a remarkable statesman, scholar, and leader who has proudly served his country and the world. He has a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney, as well as a Master of Arts in Politics and Philosophy from Oxford University, where he received a Rhodes Scholarship. He pursued jobs in media, business, and politics , before becoming the Prime Minister of Australia from 2013 to 2015.
The 11th Convocation of LPU will be a great celebration of academic excellence and achievement, with thousands of students from across India and overseas receiving degrees/diplomas for successfully completing their respective programmes. The University's Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis, a cutting-edge auditorium with approximately 15,000 seats, will host the Convocation. The Convocation will be held for batches of conventional and distance education students in the years 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

February 16, 2024: On the anniversary of the Pulwama attack on February 14, 2019, Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Jalandhar paid tribute to the 40 CRPF jawans who lost their lives in the tragic incident. The gathering, including top management, officials, administrators, students, staff members, and NCC cadets, solemnly honored the martyrs with a moment of silence and the lighting of candles. Their sacrifice for the nation was deeply acknowledged and respected by all present, as they remembered the brave souls who gave their lives in service to the motherland.
LPU organized Four-Week long Personal Contact Programme for its Distance Education Students
January 16, 2024: Lovely Professional University (LPU) organized a month-long Personal Contact Program (PCP) specifically tailored for its distance education students. With the involvement of nearly 300 faculty members, a comprehensive set of 800 courses was covered during the program. The instructional plans ensured that all vital topics from the syllabi of diverse courses were addressed in the classes.
Participation in the PCP was widespread, with thousands of distance education students from various locations attending the classes. The university facilitated academic counseling sessions during the program, where subject-specific experts addressed and resolved queries raised by the students.

Lovely Professional University (LPU) is pleased to announce that it has awarded a Study Grant of Rs 88 lakh to 88 of India's top students studying at premier schools across the country. The grant event, which took place at the Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium, marked the fourth and fifth editions of the 'Study Grant Award event,' which began in 2019. Deserving students attended the occasion, accompanied by their parents and close relatives. LPU has given out a total of Rs 6.8 crore in study grants to meritorious students in previous LPUNEST editions. Students enrolled in prestigious institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIMs, NLUs, IHMs, NIDs, NIFTs, AIIMs, and government universities and colleges (central/state) received grants.
Students from the 2022 batch received a study grant of Rs 30 lakh under the 4th edition, while students from the 2023 batch received a study grant of Rs 58 lakh under the 5th edition. Qualified students who took part in the LPUNEST received a study stipend of Rs 1 lakh apiece. These students are studying Engineering, Design, Hotel Management, Fashion, Law, and other subjects at IITs, NITs, IIMs, NLUs, IHMs, NIDs, IITs (IDC/DoD), NIFTs, AIIMs, and government universities and colleges (central/state). Raj Shree, a grant recipient pursuing CSE at IIT Delhi, expressed her gratitude and stated how the award has strengthened her confidence. She also admired LPU's inclusive strategy, which prioritized students from institutions other than LPU based on merit. Another pleased dad of a sixth-place NIT kid praised the initiative.
The "LPUNEST Study Grant" is an LPU initiative that recognizes and supports exceptional and meritorious students, regardless of whether they are enrolled at LPU. Through this initiative, the institution hopes to recognize and support student brilliance.

LPU organized annual Youth Festival ‘Spectra 2023’ themed on Trans-Inclusive Society
November 24, 2023: The 16th Inter School Youth Festival, dubbed "Spectra 2023," took place over three days and was organised by the Division of Arts & Culture of Lovely Professional University (LPU)'s Student Welfare Wing. This year's celebration focused on promoting a "Trans-Inclusive Society." In order to do this, almost 4,000 students took part in 40 competitions with a topic pertaining to "Dance, Music, Literary, Fine Arts, and Theatre & Social Media." It was a truly joyous occasion to witness LPU students enrolled in professional STEM and other disciplines giving outstanding performances at cultural contests.
The victors' trophy was lifted by the LPU School of Computer Science and Engineering on the final day. The School of Architecture was ranked first, while the School of Creative Arts was ranked second. The recipients received awards from LPU's Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal and Founder Chancellor Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, who is also a member of the Rajya Sabha. Dr. Mittal inspired students to keep showcasing their innate abilities and passions for the good of society, as well as to win accolades for both the university and themselves.

November 20, 2023: LPU Prepares to Host Indian Science Congress for the Second Time in 2024. The 109th Indian Science Congress (ISC) will be held at Lovely Professional University (LPU), a renowned university for academic excellence and innovation, from January 3 to 5, 2024. This will be LPU's second time hosting the famous event, the first being in 2019. The Indian Science Congress is one of the country's most prestigious scientific events, facilitating information sharing, stimulating innovation, and encouraging collaboration among scientists. LPU Student Receives Medal During 73rd Republic Day Celebrations In New Delhi
January 29, 2022: Ashish Kumar, a third-year BTech Computer Science & Engineering student at LPU - Lovely Professional University, has been named among the top three 'All India Best NCC Cadets,' demonstrating his calibre and cult. He is currently the Under Officer (UO) of the Army Wing of the NCC and was awarded the 'Bronze Medal' at the 73rd Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. Ashish spent 100 days of training in the national NCC camps to achieve this prestigious award.
Four Lovely Professional University (LPU) NCC and NSS students, including UO Ashish, took part in the 73rd National Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi in 2022. Deeksha Gaur of BBA-MBA (Integrated) 2nd year, Omkar Nath of MBA 1st year, and Saumya Singh of BTech Mechanical Engineering 3rd year were the other three students who took part in the RD parade. At major RD festivities, they all represented the country.
All of these LPU students greeted the unfurled Tricolour, President of India Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and top national guests with dignity on January 26, 2022, after being named among the country's best NCC cadets and NSS volunteers. Saumya is a volunteer with the NSS and also took part in the PM Rally.
LPU students were chosen in the toughest competition among lakhs of student-volunteer participants from throughout India's five zones by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. LPU students were chosen based on their overall performance in the parade, cultural activities, capacity to participate in debates on various social topics, and ability to represent their state's culture. They were also honoured by the President of India with honourable testimonies for their major national role and participation.
