The NSD 2025 Exam Pattern is generally the same for each year but is advisable to go through the NSD Exam Pattern 2025 thoroughly so that there is no scope for confusion before the NSD Exam day. Also, students who want to pursue a Diploma Course in Dramatic Arts should go through the NSD 2025 syllabus thoroughly to study at the National School of Drama (NSD). 

The three-year diploma course in Dramatic Arts will help candidates develop the necessary skills that will help them during their professional journey. The NSD 2025 Syllabus will help students develop and practise theatre skills needed in the long run while studying for a three-year diploma in Dramatic Arts. Students need to focus on theoretical and practical knowledge to achieve their goals.

National School of Drama reserves the right to shortlist number of candidates for audition/preliminary interview on the basis of its own evaluation of the candidates in theatre and allied arts.

Q:   Is there any reservation criteria for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC /PwD and other categories in NSD exam?

Yes, there is a reservation criteria for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non -creamy layer) /PwD and other categories in NSD exam. Out of 29 seats, 4 seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes (SC); 2 seats are reserved for scheduled tribes (ST); 7 seats are reserved for OBC (Non-creamy layer as notified by the Government), 3 seats are reserved for EWS; and reservation for PwD and other categories, as per government of India rules.

To take NSD Entrance Exam, candidates need to know about NSD Entrance Exam admission process. 

Candidates need to visit the official website of the exam to download the NSD Entrance Exam application form. After filling the application form, candidates are required to submit the application form along with the demand draft of INR 150 from nationalized bank drawn in favour of Director, National School of Drama, New Delhi.

Next, candidates need to submit the +2 pass certificate, graduation marks sheets & Degree, complete bio-data, address proof, testimonial copies of Certificate, four recent passport size photographs, experience certificate of theatre along with the application form.

Notably, candidates will be required to produce original documents / certificates at the time of the interview.

The NSD Entrance Exam 2025 is held offline. The exam is conducted in audition and test form and therefore candidates need to be present on the day of NSD 2025 Audition. Students are not allowed to send an audition video. Also, students who want to appear for NSD 2025 Test should know Hindi and English language from their regional language. Students should be proficient in Hindi and English. 

NSD Entrance Exam 2025 Marking Scheme

There is a set up of expert committee from the School that does the evaluation of the participating candidates' talent and skills. The expert committee decision is the final decision and if in case a student tries to influence the committee it can lead to their disqualification. The NSD select only a limited number of deserving candidates through interviews, auditions and NSD tests to assess their skills, theatre abilities and other skills related to arts

Q:   What is the provision for foreign candidates interested in taking admission through NSD exam?

A:

Foreign students may take admission in the course. However, because of the limited number of seats, it is not feasible to accommodate more than one or two foreign students in each session. Such students have to submit their applications through the Indian Embassy/High Commission in their respective countries, who will forward these to the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in India. The School will then consider the application recommended by the ICCR. Students have to submit their applications in the prescribed form of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
