Q:   Which books should I follow for PUBDET (English)?

A:

Reference books for the PUBDET:

Study the theory portion from Resnick-Halliday-Walker/ Sears-Zemansky, if you have used them for your IIT preparation. Else, any standard textbook for Plus Two would suffice. However, familiarity with the two classics I just mentioned would help you once your course commences. For problems, H. C. Verma is more than sufficient. Regards.

What is PUBDET?

Presidency University Bachelors Degree Entrance Test or PUBDET is conducted to shortlist aspirants for admission in BA and BSc (honours) programmes offered at Presidency University, Kolkata. Students who wish to study at this university can apply for a maximum of two subjects while filling out the PUBDET application form. Since Presidency University is quite popular in the state of West Bengal, about 40 to 50 thousand students apply for PUBDET each year. The university announces the number of available seats before PUBDET counselling and seat allotment procedures. It has been observed that the number of seats is significantly less when compared to the number of applicants. This implies that the exam gets increasingly more competitive each year.
