NSD Entrance Exam 2025 Counselling: The NSD will invite the selected candidates to pursue a three-year diploma programme in Drama. The selected candidates need to report to the School premises in New Delhi to attend a five-day workshop which is the second stage of the NSD admission process. Those candidates who live outside Delhi will get train/bus fare facilities from NSD from their place of residence. The final decision will be based on the Expert Committee constituted by the School to assess a candidate's talent and aptitude. In the case of canvassing, disqualification is possible. Based on the evaluation of the candidates in theatre and allied arts the school has the right to shortlist several candidates for preliminary and audition. 

Q:   What is the provision for foreign candidates interested in taking admission through NSD exam?

A:

Foreign students may take admission in the course. However, because of the limited number of seats, it is not feasible to accommodate more than one or two foreign students in each session. Such students have to submit their applications through the Indian Embassy/High Commission in their respective countries, who will forward these to the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in India. The School will then consider the application recommended by the ICCR. Students have to submit their applications in the prescribed form of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

NSD Entrance Exam 2025 Selection Procedure

The student's selection is based on a two-way process. Students need to appear for a final exam workshop of five days if they get selected for the preliminary exam at the NSD School premises in Delhi. Candidates should also some of the important details related to the NSD Admission Process. 

  • NSD have the right to do the following in case a candidate fails to submit their needed documents within the given period. 
  • The list includes 12 Unreserved, 8 other backward classes, (non-creamy layer) including 1 PwD who belongs to OBC (NCL) 4 Scheduled Caste, 2 Scheduled Tribe, 3 EWS and 3 seats reserved for Foreign Nationals.
  • The candidate belongs to the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and EWS Category needs to provide the latest OBC (Non-Creamy Layer - Central Government Format) and ESW Certificate issued by the competent authorities, as per the clarification of G.O.I. 
  • The selected students will receive an email from the NSD to inform them about the commencement of the reporting in the National School of Drama including other rules and regulations related to the admission.

Yes, there is a reservation criteria for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non -creamy layer) /PwD and other categories in NSD exam. Out of 29 seats, 4 seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes (SC); 2 seats are reserved for scheduled tribes (ST); 7 seats are reserved for OBC (Non-creamy layer as notified by the Government), 3 seats are reserved for EWS; and reservation for PwD and other categories, as per government of India rules.
