Is B.E./B.Tech at Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Mumbai a good choice?

Based on student reviews and feedback, here's what we've gathered:

Pros:

* Good infrastructure: The college has a vast campus with modern laboratories, libraries, and sporting facilities.
* Well-qualified faculty: Most teachers are Ph.D. holders and are knowledgeable in their fields.
* Hands-on learning: Projects and practical training are integrated into the curriculum, helping students gain industry-relevant skills.
* Strong placement record: Companies like Amazon, LNT, Infosys, TCS, and many more visit the campus for recruitment.
* Active clubs and societies: Students can engage in various co-curricular activities, such as tech events, cultural fests, and sports tournaments.

Cons:

* Limited hostel options: While hostels are available, they're mostly reserved for local students.
* Food quality concerns: Canteen food is hit-or-miss, and some students prefer eating off-campus.
* Limited exposure to entrepreneurship: Although encouraged, entrepreneurship development programs could be more robust.
* Teaching style variations: Some teachers might be more effective communicators than others.

Overall assessment: Based on the feedback, DBIT appears to be a good choice for those seeking a strong academic foundation, practical training, and decent placement prospects. However, potential students should be aware of the limitations mentioned above.

A:

Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. Good Infrastructure and Facilities.
Placements: There are placements in my college and a lot of companies like Godrej, Capgemini, Seclore, DeltaX, Homefirst, VIP, Alpha Payments, and so on. I believe most of the students are able to bag the jobs that come, even if not at the beginning of the placement season due to not enough prep, but they are able to work on it and get the job as companies keep coming.
Infrastructure: We are provided with all the necessary infrastructure, and they are helpful to students. Computers always have internet connectivity, which consistently helps with technical projects or assignments. The faculty members are supportive of any academic or personal problems that we face and thus maintain cordial relations with students.
Faculty: As technology advances in the IT industry, the curriculum and syllabus need to be updated accordingly. The current syllabus provides the basic fundamentals, which are necessary for students to study, but it also needs to be more adaptable to current advancing technology.
Other: I personally like the extracurricular activities, as they are a breath of fresh air from the technical assignments and projects. I have also worked as an active NSS volunteer and chairperson of a technical student chapter, and it has been a wonderful experience hosting and conducting events as well as participating in them.

Absolutely satisfied by the college because of their facilities and other good infrastructure
Placements: In our college almost all the students appearing for the placements are placed in companies like L&T, Browserstack, Capgemini, Accenture etc. The highest package received this year was offered by Browserstack for 22.5 LPA and the lowest package offered was 4-5 LPA. Here, the avg package given to the students of Don Bosco Institute of Technology is 6-7 LPA. Also a rough figure of 98% students from our college are placed every year. Our college provides an expert course on computer engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical engineering and Electronics engineering. Non-btech and be courses include BMS, BAF, HS, HM, ITI.
Infrastructure: The campus is well organized in Don Bosco. Also, there a two canteens for students. All the labs, canteens, Libraries, session halls are having wifi facilities. There are cultural events celebrated in our college on a huge level. Students from DBIT compete at University level championships where they also come back with flying colours. There are separate common rooms for boys and girls in both the streams, this includes the indoor games facilities.
Faculty: The teachers are always supportive, helpful and visionary. They aim to provide more deep and practical knowledge of their respective subjects in the form of lab sessions making them capable of performing everything they learn in their theory sessions. This clearly improves their thinking ability and promote them towards problem solving skills. They provide knowledge and course for the students in campus making them industry ready till they end up with their Respective courses. Students here pass on an acceptable range.

My experience in Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
Placements: I enrolled in the computer department in 2021, which is a 4-year graduation course. My pass-out year is 2025. College offers 4 branches: computer, information technology, EXTC, and mechanical departments. College has good placement records. The average package is 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: College has decent facilities, including a good canteen, spacious library, and football grounds. College has Wi-Fi across the campus. Each department has about 7 to 8 labs. Infrastructure is not so fascinating, but still, it is well-equipped with projectors and smart TVs.
Faculty: Each department has highly qualified and well-experienced faculty members. Professors are very supportive and helpful. The course is well-supported with practical sessions, and for that, laboratories are well-equipped. Practical knowledge is focused on at Don Bosco Institute of Technology.

Healthy Competition among crowd and so helps you grow as an individual.
Placements: Placements are pretty average unless you've done something extraordinary. As of last year's placements, the 2024 pass-out batch, the highest package of 22 LPA was offered to 2 students, and the rest were below them. One of the key elements that differentiated them from others was that they were not only good at academics and technical skills, but one of them was leading the team of our technical club, and one was the founder and lead of GDSC DBIT (Google Developer Student Club).
Infrastructure: Classrooms and labs are good, and there is a huge library with a good collection of books and well-maintained sitting areas. DBIT doesn't have its own hostel as of 2024, but you can find PG accommodations nearby. Godrej, Tata Power, Sahaj, Compress, Simpolo, etc., are some of the companies that come for placements.
Faculty: Teachers and faculty members are quite qualified and helpful as well. Teaching quality is good. Lectures take place regularly. End-semester exams are conducted under Mumbai University, as this college falls under MU. Since teaching is good, you can score well if you attentively attend lectures.
Other: Computer Engineering is a quite demanding job in today's world, but remember, it is only if you develop the industry-required skills. Apart from academics, you should involve yourself in different clubs and participate actively to stand out. DBIT has a debate club (Litsoc), GDSC (Google Developer Student Club), and an ACM club, under which events like TECNACK (technical events) take place. Colosseum is one of the cultural events of DBIT.

Review of Don Bosco Institute of Technology.
Placements: 80% of students get placed in a company. 3.5 LPA is the lowest package and the highest package is 9.75 LPA. The average package is 6.5 LPA. Bluestar, Renault, Nissan, Jio, Tata, etc. are the recruiting companies. Some students can get a free internship and some get a paid internship which improves their creativity and thinking.
Infrastructure: The library as well as classrooms are well managed and cleaned every time. Wi-Fi is available only in the library and in some classrooms and seminar halls. There are two canteens: one is Cafe Bosco, and the other is an old canteen that gives good food in good quantity.
Faculty: Faculty and staff are very helpful in every difficult situation. Teachers and teaching staff have good knowledge to teach us in a good way. Teaching quality is nice. 95% of students can pass very easily. Semester exams are not difficult but some questions are coming out of the syllabus.
Other: I chose this course because I have a diploma in mechanical engineering. And I have more knowledge about cars, CNC machines and software like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc. Two fests happen at our college every year. One is Hysteria, which includes sports, cultural activities and other technical fests.

For placement and academic purposes, it was best college. But not for hostel life.
Placements: College placement is very active as compared to other colleges in Mumbai; they are very helpful for students, and they are spread across the world, so it can be easy to know about vacancies and easily known about requirements and skills. Alumni are always in contact with placement cell companies that recruit students with 6 LPA to 16 LPA packages.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is so large in Mumbai main region that all types of amenities are present, like Wi-Fi, labs, air conditioning, classrooms, labs with precise instruments, etc. The reading hall is also very large, with all the facilities, like laptops and reference books, in a peaceful environment. Hostel facilities are available for long-distance travelers, and the cafeteria area was very nice.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are coming from foreign universities as PG holders, and they are also doing jobs at reputed companies in the IT sector. So it was very helpful guidance for students to know about the requirements, skills to be developed, and how to prepare for front-of-house interviews. The course curriculum is based on projects and practical, so it meets industry requirements for exposure for students in college time.
