Q:   Can I get into Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies MMS with 70% in class 12th?

A:

Your chances of getting into Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies (DSIMS) MMS programme with a 70% in Class 12th depend on several factors, including your overall academic record, your performance in the management entrance exam, your work experience, and your performance in the group discussion and personal interview.

While a 70% in Class 12th is not considered a top score, it is not necessarily a deal-breaker for admission to DSIMS MMS program. The institute considers a holistic approach to evaluating applicants, and your performance in other areas can compensate for a slightly lower Class 12th score.

Here are some factors that can increase your chances of getting into DSIMS MMS programme with a 70% in Class 12th:

  1. Strong entrance exam score: A good score in a management entrance exam like CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, or PJET can significantly boost your chances of admission. DSIMS places a high value on entrance exam scores as they are indicative of your aptitude for management studies.

  2. Consistent academic record: A strong academic record throughout your schooling, not just in Class 12th, demonstrates your ability to handle academic rigor and achieve consistent results. This can be a strong point in your favor.

  3. Relevant work experience: If you have any relevant work experience, especially in the management or business field, it can be a significant advantage. Work experience provides you with practical exposure to the industry and demonstrates your professional skills.

  4. Impressive performance in GD and PI: The group discussion and personal interview are crucial components of the admissions process. Your performance in these assessments will showcase your communication skills, interpersonal abilities, and overall personality fit for the program.

Good: faculty, placement, campus, students.
Placements: 90% of marketing students are placed after the third semester. The highest package is around 7.5 LPA to 10 LPA. 100% of students got placed in summer internships. Sales and marketing executive roles are offered for placement. Courses are offered in digital marketing, retail management, and marketing research.
Infrastructure: Good infrastructure: a library to study in and a computer lab to make projects and learn more. Cafeteria to eat. Good classrooms. Turf to play games. Train travel concessions are available for students. Teaching methods include projectors, case studies, and books, as well as group discussions, etc.
Faculty: Good faculty are supportive and helpful. I would like to thank Aijaz sir and Pooja ma'am for taking me on the social media team to showcase my talent. This helped me add this extracurricular activity to my resume, and due to this, I got selected for an interview.

Our college has great placements and faculty members. It has value for money.
Placements: Despite a few students who did not opt for placements, all students were placed successfully. Some of them were placed directly by the college, and some had even found jobs on other platforms like Naukri.com. The majority of the finance students were picked by banks like ICICI, HDFC, and IndusInd. There were various other companies, such as Thomson Reuters, Visible Alpha, Capgemini, BNP Paribas, Motilal Oswal, etc. Banking companies hired students for sales based roles, while a few were also picked for back-end roles. Research and analysis-based roles were also offered. The highest salary package offered in our batch was 4.5 LPA, the lowest was approximately 3 LPA, and the average was approximately 3.5 LPA. Every student was offered an unpaid internship. No one was offered a paid internship. Students who got stipends found internships by themselves.
Infrastructure: I was a day scholar. The infrastructure was well maintained. The entire campus was well guarded. It was neat and tidy. There were cleaning workers all the time. The library was well maintained. It had all the required books in abundance. There was a dedicated floor for the library, so one had no worries about sitting capacity. The library also had a discussion room where students could discuss their projects or assignments after their lectures using the study materials. The IT lab was pretty decent. It could provide basic services but could not function properly when heavy software was used on it. One could complete their assignments in the IT lab with a little bit of pain. I would recommend you to carry a personal laptop. Everything else was good. The campus had a common canteen area, which was shared by the other colleges, such as junior colleges and degree colleges. It was an outdoor canteen in the middle of 3 buildings with pretty decent food. There are many options nearby that you can certainly explore and that are budget-friendly.
Faculty: The professors are really helpful and amazing. They are very much knowledgeable and qualified. Each professor has a different and a unique teaching pattern which is helpful in understanding the concepts very much. I can definitely vouch for the quality of the professors and their knowledge. Almost all the professors are Doctorate holder in their field and hence are very much the best. The curriculum of the finance course is relevant and based on the requirements of the industry. Almost everything that you will be asked in an interview will be based on these. Practical applicability of the theory will be very much appreciated. The exams are also framed in a manner that all the concepts are covered and the students are ready for the future. The pass rate in the exams stood at almost 100 percent. Barely anyone failed the finance examination.
Other: One thing that the college can work on is their IT Lab. Equipping the IT Lab with much more advanced systems and heavy systems is a must with machine learning. The best part about the college was the fests. There are many fests and activities that will keep on happening round the corner. Make sure to participate in those fests.

Our college has excellent placements, infrastructure, and faculty members.
Placements: In 2020, few companies offered placements with lower salary packages due to covid. So approximately 70% of students were placed. The highest salary package offered was 7 LPA by Deloitte, and the lower salary package offered was 3.3 LPA. The average salary package offered was 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Deloitte, etc., visited our campus. Almost 95% of students got internships. Well-known banks, the NSE, Crisil, Visible Alpha, Noumora, etc., were top organisations that visited our campus. The average salary package offered was 6 LPA. Almost 90-95% of students were placed.
Infrastructure: Our college had excellent infrastructure. Computer labs and carrom rooms were available. The library had a large number of books available, including various alumni projects, publications, and so on. We had a playground, a huge campus, a centralised air-conditioned building, a cafeteria, a hall, etc., available. The food quality was good. The girls' hostel was on campus, and the boys' hostel was close to the institute. The canteen was available. There were various food stalls outside the campus.
Faculty: Our faculty members were helpful, supportive, and knowledgeable. Most of them were Ph.D. holders and were always upgrading their knowledge. The course was relevant and the elective subjects selected by the institute were very good. External faculty members visited to teach. There were numerous seminars and events held on campus. They always tried to guide and enhance students' knowledge. The semester exams were difficult. The pass percentage was 100%.
Other: If you want to get a good job from a well-known company, MS is good. You would learn about securities, portfolios, equity research, valuation, and various software in the finance field. If we got more practical and real-world experience, that would be great for understanding the outside world. The institute was trying this through various programs. They did support extracurricular activities. Our college organised many events like common festivals, sports events, CSR activities, etc. The connectivity and surrounding area were excellent.

A must go college for best exposure and for someone who wants and get a satisfies placement.
Placements: 70-75% students were placed. The highest package was 7.5 lacs, and the lowest was 3.5. 95% of the time is spent on sales and marketing. I'm aware that many salaries were negotiated, but the JD were well worth it. However, all of the companies were well-known and had clear job descriptions.
Infrastructure: I believe the facilities provided were above average and in line with market trends. Furthermore, there were no restrictions on their use. They had a large collection of books from which to choose based on your interests. There will be no compromising on food quality. Individual preference may be important when it comes to taste.
Faculty: I never faced an issue wherein my issues of doubts were not resolved by my professor. There have been instances wherein a little dilemma were faced. But no complaints with respect to their knowledge. We also had good industry experts to update us on timely basis. Passing percentage is as per the university conduct which is same for every college. In my opinion exams are meant to be tough but not if we study and attend lectures regularly.
Other: I think the course, money, knowledge and everything else has been upto the mark as was able to get a satisfying job before the end of my course and was able to crack it because of right guidance from my prof. But we have seen our prof and coordinators going an extra mile for students who required support, also for the fact they still send mails to 20-21 students pass out back because of the sheer bad luck of covid.

Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies FAQs

Q:   How is CGPA calculated in Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies?

A:

In Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies (DSIMS), CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is calculated by considering the GPA (Grade Point Average) obtained by a student in each semester. The GPA is calculated based on the grades achieved in individual courses or subjects.

To calculate the CGPA, the GPA of each semester is first obtained by summing up the product of the grade points earned in each course and the respective course credits, and then dividing it by the total number of credits in that semester. The GPA represents the performance of the student in that specific semester.

The CGPA is then calculated by taking the mean of the GPAs obtained in each semester throughout the course duration. It is determined by dividing the sum of the GPAs earned in all the semesters by the total number of semesters.

CGPA serves as an indicator of the student's overall academic performance across all semesters. It is widely used by educational institutions to assess a student's progress and to determine academic honors, eligibility for scholarships, and other academic achievements.

It is important for students to maintain a good CGPA as it reflects their consistency and dedication towards their studies throughout the course. It is also a measure of their ability to meet the academic standards set by the institute.
